Played here fri. 12-27. I booked the tee time on the course website and paid $99.00 They will book singles so I went for it.
I decided to give this track a chance due to all of the comments I have been seeing and I was off on a Fri. so the cost was a little better. Overall I was impressed with the customer service. I had a 9:20 tee time but they had a 1:20 frost delay so things were backed up. They did get me out about 9:50 hooking me up with a threesome of nice guys. None of us had played here before so this was a bit of an adventure! Some course knowledge would be VERY helpful.
The condition of the course was everything I expected and was in excellent shape from tee box to green. My only complaint would be the bunkers,some were nice and plenty of sand but one I was in was really thin with hardpan only about 1/2" under the sand.
Now to the course design. I have never been a big fan of "tricked out" courses with blind tee shots and severely sloping landing areas and this place had plenty of that. I have to say some of the views (#6 tee box comes to mind) were amazing. But 200 yard carries just to hit the fairways are not my style.
The greens were firm and very fast with lots of hidden breaks. If you were above the hole it was almost always a three putt.I have to mention the 18th green. This green is just stupid, it looks more like a half pipe than a green. We all commented that we could have brought a skateboard for this one.
I did enjoy the day and I am glad I played here but I don't think I will go back. Just not my cup of tea, especially for the price they charge

Played Pechanga on 7-Apr Sat @ 0830-The course is in spectacular condition and worth every penny of the $129 Greens Fee!

I arrived about 60 min before tee time and wanted to hit balls to warm up. My friend is a big player at the casino, so he got our foursome comped. I told this to the golf shop guy (John) who would let me warm up unless I played a full greens fee. The discussion took me right back to Jack Nicholson in "Five Easy Pieces" ordering toast. Well I did, and had to get my full fee reimbursed 45 min later. With that lone exception the service was great.

The rains came down hard throughout the day, but the course condition was so good, it did not matter. The greens were immaculate and rolling to a solid 10.

The food in the 19th hole was outstanding. I had a seafood cobb(with shrimp, crab, and salmon) and my friends had the (huge) prime rib sandwich. I recommend either.

Played last Saturday after Thanksgiving and Journey was awesome. The overseeding came in great. I don't get to play Journey very often, but it is truly worth the wait. The greens are still bentgrass which is rare, putts rolled great but watch for some grain due to the bent. Can't wait to comeback.

The course conditions are fantastic, layout is so good, scenery is awesome, but what they have done is made the course more player friendly. it does not beat you up. It rewards you for good shots and does not punish you for those shots we all have that are not so good. The staff is incredible, pro shop to die for, beverage cart girl - right there, great day...

Thanks to GKers sixpez, rat-patrol and (now-westie) lotrgolfer48 for trekking down to Temecula on a sunny hot day for some serious brain damage. The tee sheet was crowded (apparently with a lot of Underpar users, as well as others) but the starter was very efficient and groups were getting out on time (ours was 7:50AM). Overall conditions were very good. The reviews by sixpez and rat-patrol earlier capture a lot of my thoughts. This course is really impossible to walk, with long hikes and elevation changes to tees at #6, 8, 17, etc. The replay round could be booked only after we finished the first round, and with the crowded tee sheet we were fortunate to get a 1:20PM time, a break of about 1 hour after we finished the first round. The afternoon round was much different from the morning mainly in that the wind was a factor on every shot. The prevailing wind from the southwest seems to wrap around the hills south of the course in such a way that most of the holes seem to play into the wind(!), especially the par 5s. And the greens themselves were noticeably rougher in the afternoon, with a lot of spike marks and damage around all of the cup positions, as well as firmer, as the heat and wind firmed up the entire course. Some comments on individual holes: Hole 7 – there’s nowhere to go on the left side of a very sloping green on this hole – only 1 in 8 of us hit the green (in the 2 rounds), and that shot backed off the front of the green; it was very difficult to putt from anywhere on that green!! Hole 13 – is this becoming a par 4? I hope not. The pro shop told me that the hole is being redesigned – homes on the reservation to the left were being bombarded with errant drives, so the back tees have been closed temporarily, and everyone is playing from forward tees until the course architect can be brought in. It’s currently playing as a brutal par 4 – playing down toward the big oak, short of the creek, leaves a second of nearly 200 yards into the wind with a lake left of the green! Unless you can fly your drive 260 down the right side and clear the creek. Hole 14 - stands out on the back as a brute of a par 4, mainly due to the uphill second shot from a sloping fairway to a plateau green with a deep bunker in the right front. There’s also the long downhill drive to get to a landing area that at least allows you to see the green. Hole 17 – nowhere to go but the green, or it’s off into the canyons. Oh, and there's that crosswind! A couple plusses and minuses: Plenty of bottled water was available at the starter shack, snack bar at the turn, and from roving staff – much appreciated in the heat!! Nice bathrooms. Seats in the carts were the most comfortable I’ve ever seen. GPS was good but not stellar, and not easy to use. Service and food and cost in the snack bar were lacking. The turkey sandwich lacked a key ingredient – turkey. The cookies were good, but $3.50??!! Service was casual and slow. Overall recommended, but better if you can get a reasonable green fee deal.

Just to add my 2 cents, the white tees (first 18) were challenging but fair for a 9 handicap short hitter such as myself (probable average 225-230 on my decently struck drives), the Blacks (second 18) were a bit too much. Of course at that point I was burnt (literally) out, the wind was up and the greens had hardened up quite a bit. So chose your tees wisely . . . or pay the price! I agree mostly with sixpez as to conditions, he's the expert here and plays more courses (different courses) in a month than I do in a year . . . so he knows of which he speaks! Looking at the website it seems they may have lowered their rates a bit (just for the summertime?) which is a good thing . . . as a cheap-O I have a hard time paying any more than $65-$70 and would only pay that for this course. Personally given the choice I'd probably pay the $76 (city rate) and play Torrey South more often than not (I prefer old school tracks) . . . shorter drive cooler conditions, better views and WALKABLE! :) Overall a nice challenging course with many unique features, if that's what you're into. Kind of a 'boutique' type course. I'd put it in a category with Mt Woodson and The Crossings (design/layout wise), with Pechanga at the top of that list.

Both rounds about 4.5 hours with a little under an hour in between, so the deal worked out well. Hard to beat two rounds here for that price.

Today, the course seemed to have a Jekyll & Hyde feel. In the morning round, it looked and played very nice with softer conditions and beautiful greens. In the afternoon, the wind picked up and the course firmed up a lot. The greens were hard to hold and they looked really beat up with a lot of ball marks and a lot of spike marks, making them very bumpy and seemingly slower. I seemed to notice more thin/bare/brown areas throughout the fairways and rough in the afternoon, too. I don't know if we were just tired, but the course seemed to lose its luster the second time through. I was in a few bunkers. A couple were great and a couple were quite thin, so the sand levels were inconsistent.

This is a fun course that definitely makes you work, but it can get frustrating at times. Miss any green on any side and you will have an awkward chip to deal with. Some very tricky pin placements on greens with severe slopes and undulations. I probably wasn't as impressed with it this time as I was last year in terms of conditions and layout, but I still enjoyed it plenty.

Course was in incredible shape. Lots of wet areas on the fairways and rough however. Hard balance during the summer heat. Greens rolled amazing! POP was slow in part due to one group, seemed like they were locals and held the whole course up. Over 5 hour round on a Tuesday. Not my ideal pace. I would like to play again though. Quite a treat.

The club house was absolutely beautiful. Top notch amenities including a nice locker room. Great restaurant with a nice outside patio area. The course was in top shape. Tee boxes were flat but did have some significant damages on the par3s. We didn't have trouble finding grass to hit off of though. Fairways were nice and lush. The rough was cut nicely. The greens were hard and rolled true at a speed of 11 (per the pro shop). The bunkers could use more sand, but they were still very playable. It didn't feel very busy, We had a 3some that teed off about 20 minutes before us and we saw them getting off the greens a few times when we were on the tee box. The group behind us kept pace and was about 1/2 a hole behind. Finished a relaxing round in just over 4 hours.
