Played Tues Sept 21 at 649, check in fast, restaurant open, they have good breakfast here, got out on time. Been a while since I played Butterfield, we usually play chino creek, but the course was in decent shape, tee boxes were level, fairways were green with a few brown spots, bunkers are never good and I putted out of the one I was in, greens were very soft, we had large ballmarks to repair all day long but they rolled nice. I seem to score better on chino creek, but want to play this more often because I should be able to play here. POP was 4:04 which wasn't bad, if you play here, definitely bring bug spray as the nats are terrible, had many shots where they were all over my eyes so I put sunglasses on, then they started in my ears. My friend gave me bug spray and I had no issues the last 5 holes. Bug spray in now going in my bag.

Played Friday may 28th at 630, check in fast, got out 10min early. We have been playing chino creek allot the last 3 weeks so came back for Butterfield this time, been 7 weeks since we were here. Some of the same conditions existed as last time, some tees boxes with very long grass, they were mowing them as we played, the fairways were mostly green and that is where you need to be on this course as just off the fairways the grass gets very long, like 4" and is difficult to find the ball and nearly impossible to advance it much, much further off the fairways you get this short weeds that just grabs your club, the front 9 the greens are still not recovered but the back was better, they are not bad as I didn't have any 3 putts, bunkers are still not good and never will be. This is a pretty straightforward course but for some reason I struggled here compared chino creek, I don't know why, it is shorter and rated easier but the holes on chino creek suit my eye better, maybe I just need to play here as much as I play chino creek.

5/18 GK match with John (PokerGuy0826) a great golf companion and joined by Joe and Ed also a compatible pair on a nice comfortable morning a little breeze and mostly cloudy. Used Teeoff deal time $32 with discounts. Easy 4hr POP with no pressure and no waiting as the 4some ahead was always just out of range. Smooth friendly check in--I see why Weber likes this place. Basic carts no GPS. Grass driving range with mostly newer balls and large practice green generally smoother than on course conditions. Fairways have inconsistent cover with some areas quite good and then some really thin so the shot you would like to hit vs the shot/club you are better off hitting is influenced by the lie. Rough can be deep and thick and grabby or just there as grass that is longer than the fairway. Additionally there are areas of animal damage and subsequent bare areas. Tees were shaggy at times and some times thin but payable overall. Bunkers looked firm and often wet with evidence of grooming and saw a couple with grass growing as well. I myself did not get to test them to provide a first hand report. Greens on the front were still not fully healed and showed the variation of grass from punches so they were uneven and bumpy. Greens on the back were better overall. Speed medium. Greens are usually fronted by a slight up slope with longer grass and generally soft so hard to get shots to run up and shots into the slope stopped with out advancing. Had not played here for about 2 years so was interesting to see that some trees were gone and some trees have turned into a forest. Played the white tees and basically had to hit 2 more clubs than back then.

Played yesterday, Sunday March 2. Tee'd off at 12:50, $44 with cart was a fair price for a Sunday. POP was great, didn't hardly wait on the group in front of us, at all. right at 4hrs.

Played yesterday, Sunday March 2. Tee'd off at 12:50, $44 with cart was a fair price for a Sunday. POP was great, didn't hardly wait on the group in front of us, at all. right at 4hrs.

This is a fun layout, but the conditions are a little lacking. The teeboxes were all just fine, nice and level, a little shaggy than I like them, but not a big deal.

Fairways were hit and miss. There's some clumpy different grasses growing and some bare patches, had three pretty bad lies in the fairways, not fair at all.

Sand traps were pretty awful. Still no rakes and they were fairly rocky and hard. I got out of the two greenside bunkers I was in ok, but didn't have much confidence, just tried to get it on the green, basically.

Greens held shots for the most part, a couple of them were unusually hard and didn't hold and then a few of them were unusually soft and didn't release. It was tough to be super confident, so mainly focused on hitting the center of the greens and hope for the best. They were also bumpy, but fairly fast, so definitely challenging to master.

Customer service was just fine, no complaints, no frills.

The water in the lakes is awful!! Smells so bad. Plus it seems like there's a sewage station right next to the course. All day the smell was awful, to the point where I had to cover my nose a few times to keep from gagging. They need to fix this issue.

I'm not a huge fan of the course. There's many other nicer courses in the area. Still had fun, but not sure I want to come back.

Had a threesome group with a tee time at noon on Sunday.

Course is what it is. Rough but fun to play and the best thing you can walk it if you are in decent shape. Only 65 years old and laugh at the youngsters taking a cart.

I think I know why they take a cart. That is where they put whatever they get high on.

Never seen so many shots from other fairways coming into my fairway and the course isn't that tight. Front nine was played in just under two hours with just a bit of waiting. 2 1/2 hours for the back nine.

Back nine we had two groups waiting on every tee after the 11th hole. No marshals and don't want to get shot telling the slow players four holes ahead of us who were two holes behind to keep up with the group in front of them.

Like I said before in previous reviews the China virus is good for golf because more people are playing so less courses will be closed for housing etc.
However, it is basically a golf get high party if you play after 11 or maybe sooner.

You may be thinking why not play earlier. Good question but my wife of 36 years who likes to play won't play early. Cheaper than divorce.

I am reminding myself to read this review and don't play there again on a weekend until there is herd immunity and a drop off in play.

Until the virus we could go out there around 11 on a Sunday and finish in three hours.

Played Tues April 6th at 715, course was very busy as they had some big tourney right behind us. Everything is open, tee boxes were level but the grass was long, when using a short tee for fairway tee off, the grass touched the ball. The fairways were be moved as we played them and the first 7 holes we had the guy in the fairways for our tee shots, they should go backwards, start at 9 and go to 1 so you only get the mower for 1 hole, not 8 hole in a row. Fairways were very green and nice, the rough was long and penal, really had to hunt for the ball, traps the usual bad sand in the I.E. greens were punched a while back but are still very slow and bumpy, they need 2 to 3 more weeks. It was impossible to make 4 to 6 foot putts because as you don't hit the ball as hard the ball just takes those holes and moves all over the place. Still for the price I like this no frills golf course and hope to return soon. The guy in our 4 some who schedules our outings doesn't like it here and very rarely books this place. Us other 3 have to get him to book here more often.

First out on a cold and very foggy morning, which is strange since it is usually not that cold when it's foggy? But it was 40 degrees when I teed off in the dark and had less than 100 yards visibility until well into the back nine.

Greens were good, which is typical on the El Prado courses. Fairways were a mixed bag. Some good, some thin with bare areas. The greenside bunkers were excellent, and since I could only guess where the greens were due to the fog, I was in a bunch of them. As usual, lots of "scruffy" areas, but thats El Prado, and you expect that going in.

Staff was great and accommodating. As always, just good basic no frills golf at a reasonable price.

After a long hiatus, played Butterfield the day before Thanksgiving. Had an 8:30 tee time with my regular group and the place was packed with both parking areas full. Checked in and off we went to the tee box on time. A little waiting on the group ahead of us but still finished in under 4 hours. The guys in the clubhouse are about the best. Nice to see Art Guevara here as head pro coming over from Green River. One of the great guys in the industry. As is Kevin, the GM. Both add a lot of class to the place.

The course is not in the best of shape but the layout is fun. Adequate coverage on the fairways but found many bare, hard spots. Not the best conditions. Not much rough to speak of so it was very playable. Bunkers are a mixture of sand and dirt but still payable.

The greens were very nice but not rolling fast. I have seen them much faster here but they were holding good shots.

Mr. Weber adequately summarized the course in the previous review. “Good basic golf at a fair price”. Layout is not difficult but it is fun.

Looking to get out early and finish quickly so I could get home to watch the Masters, so thought El Prado would satisfy that need. Easy check in, staff as always was efficient and friendly. Cold out, but being able to walk makes a big difference on these cold mornings.

Course was in about what I expected regarding condition. Greens decent, but slower than usual. Good coverage on the fairways. Rough was mixed bag, some decent lies, some thick/uncut. Bunkers were better than last time I played here, at least there was some sand in the two traps I found.

Good basic golf at a fair price. About all I was asking for
