Tee time at 9:15AM on a hot sunny Sunday, 9/2/12, with almost no wind. COURSE MANAGEMENT FAIL!!! as a Men's Club shotgun at 7:30 had too many players, but the pro shop accommodated them and the other scheduled tee times were DELAYED without notice. We were told at 9:30 that it would be another 30 minutes before we could tee off on #1. So they sent us off #9!; then we played the back nine and finished 8 holes of the front. Just like the architect didn't design it!

Greens were in good shape, some with many ballmarks, some with a few bare spots around the edges. OK lies in fairways, rough benign, sand in good shape but damp and heavy. Tees OK. Casual water in some waste areas. Pace Ok after frustrating delay and weird start.

Driving range was a total mess. Only a few mats on one side - on the other side, patrons were put onto a narrow strip of torn up "grassy" area between the cart path and a bare area for the mats. Lies were patchy and stances uneven. The larger area of the range was severely torn up with divots and rough usage - altogether, very poor facilities provided for golfers.

Saw cart girl several times. Marshalls buzzing about. Plenty of water available. I like this course, but golfers making good-faith reservations are screwed with no recourse, and some facilities were unacceptable.

Played 9-2 with a 11:30 tee time we got out about 10 minutes late. We were a 4 ball behind a 2 ball the twosome had to wait on almost every hole for the foursome of ladies ahead of them who were REALLY SLOW so that backed us up on the front nine. The back moved along at a good pace. Overall we finished in 4:30 the tee. Boxes were a mixed bag mostly level and ok but some were beat up. Fairways were good mostly lush with good roll out The greens with the exception Of the first 5 ( really beat up and slow) where good medium speed and consistent
I really like this track and will be back again

First time playing this course as it's about 50 miles from OC. Played this morning, 8/29 at 7:30 and were done in 4 hours. What a nice course in great condition. The tees, fairways and greens were in excellent condition. The layout is very wide open and not a super challenge except many of the greens are above the fairway so your irons need to be accurate. The first 3 greens had a significant amount of ball marks but after that they were much better, no explanation for why that is. It was worth the drive and I'll be back out to try it again.

Played here this morning. Signed up for a 6:37 time on GN as a single. Ended up teeing off a little after that as they shuffled some groups around to get everyone paired up equally. Minor nuisance for me, but better for overall flow of course. Starter kept things moving and organized. I was paired with a twosome and another single. Pace was nice, right at four hours.

First time playing the course (imagine that). Always heard good things from other GKers, so I was glad to finally check it out. Definitely lived up to its solid reputation. Fun layout. Not super demanding, but enough challenge to keep things interesting. Fairways pretty wide and forgiving, but there are a lot of mounds and undulations out there so plenty of uneven lies to contend with. Greens are tricky. Medium-big size with a lot of subtle breaks.

The course was in excellent shape from tee to green. Tee boxes were level and cut nice, just lightly sanded. The fairways were some of the nicest I've hit from all summer. Very lush and green, just about perfect. There were very few bare/brown spots out there (I think 10th fairway had the most bad spots I saw), but every single lie I had was downright excellent. Rough not cut too deep. I was in one bunker and the sand was heavy and damp early the morning, but played fine. The greens were excellently conditioned. They are super soft, which is great for hitting your approaches, but also meant there were way too many ball marks. Even little chips and pitches were leaving small dents and careless players didn't bother to fix those minor ones. If not for all the small bumps and dents (which are not the course's fault), the greens would have been just about perfect. Great combo of softness and speed.

I'll definitely play here again. Enjoyed this course on all levels today!

Played here on sunday 5/27, memorial day weekend. The course was pretty wide open. I gotta remember, play golf memorial day weekend if i don't go out of town. I guess it's a slow (in terms or business) weekend for golf courses since lots of people take trips.

Reviewing this course is kind of getting old. Same usual nice relaxing day at sierra. not much to complain about. good condition overall. One unusual thing that i haven't experience at this course was that the greens were pretty firm that my balls were bouncing pretty high. I don't think i've ever seen that at this course. I'm not sure if the course has a control over the firmness of the green but it was definitely the firmest i've ever seen at sierra.

Played 5-15-12 at 1pm following a tournament. Tournament seemed extremely unorganized with people yelling and scrambling before heading off to their tee's. I have not had this anywhere else and maybe it was because of the tournament but the pro shop would not let us check in more than 20 mins early. First 2 holes went by fast and smooth and as we came to the 3rd tee a group had barely tee'd off and a twosome in front of us that still had to wait to tee it up also. From then on it was very slow going for a couple holes and then picked up speed for a couple holes after the marshal told them to pick up the pace. Making the turn to 10 things grid locked and we waited 20+ mins to tee it up. It seemed like a 6+ hour round but turned out to be a touch over 5-1/2. Course is in very good condition tee to green except for no one repairing their ball marks but the guys in the pro shop behind the counter need to go. A few have been there for a long time but they couldn't possibly be any less interested in their customers and they are always a slight bit rude. However the upper management Rick and Ben are great guys and I will still recommend this course to others but be sure there are no tourney's going on that day and no fivesomes.

One of the nicest conditioned courses anywhere. Greens were fast and smooth. (Hole 15 had very small aerated holes to help get it into the same lushness as the others, but it rolled very well too.) Fairways were all like carpet. Rough was very penal in some areas, and just long enough in other areas to be of concern, -like rough should be. The tee boxes were also excellent and the three bunkers I was in were all fluffy and easy to nice out of.

Customer service was was also top-notch and the pace-of-play was right at four hours.

SL is a can't-miss spot right now.
