Had a tee time for this morning for 2, me and a buddy. My buddy cancelled last night (I didn't get it until this morning). Upon arriving at the golf shop I was told that since I was a single golfer that I am not allowed to play. I thought he was referring to walk ons which I know they do not allow now but this is even true if you have a tee time. I was pretty shocked and had to leave. I checked their website and this is not mentioned as one of their COVID precautions. So just FYI make sure you have someone. I on the other hand will not return here given this piss poor customer service and lack of communication. So long AB.

Greens are just ok. Just way too many ball marks on these greens that have been no repaired correctly or not at all. However the speed of the greens was really good so if they could just get that these would be ranked much better. Also the front of the 5th green was in bad shape. Looks like they put some new grass in there and that needs some time.

Fairways and rough are about as expected from here, a mixed bag. Some decent lies in the fairway and the rough too but there are many dead areas. There were some wet spots out there and I did find a couple of times I did have the dreaded mud ball. The native area of the rough is very very dry. I was looking for a ball in there and it just crumbles as you walk on it.

Sand was actually really great. Most of the bunkers had been raked and plenty of sand in there. No issues here other than I should avoid them next time.

Tee boxes were pretty decent. I always remember #10 being a tee box that was not very level and always pretty beat up. It seemed much more level today and good coverage throughout.

Customer service here was pretty poor today. We teed off after 9 and we were a little late from our time but not a big deal. The issue was the group in front of us was a hole behind after 2 holes. Marshal caught them as we were on the 5th tee box and came up to us and told us that those guys play here 2-3 times a week and they are all over 70. I was pretty shocked that was his way of dealing with this. They did make up some ground during the middle of the round but as we walked up 17 we could see no one was on 18 which is a long par 5 into the wind. There were people driving by in carts past them saying things as other groups called it the day. The single in our group left after 16. I'd say if I were them I'd be pretty embarrassed but these guys did not give a ........ Sadly I don't see myself coming back anytime soon. The only way I do is if I get an early time which probably won't be until next spring.

Mostly green and plush with some dry spots, greens very nice (I did fix quite a few fresh ball marks and saw many more ill-repaired marks and some where no one even bothered trying) bunkers were in excellent condition and pop was under 4 hrs. Recommended!

Finally got out to play, review is a little late as we played on Friday, 8/16. Sorry about that.

Course is in darn good shape right now. Teeboxes were nice and level. Played the blues and they had excellent coverage with hardly any divot damage. Grass on the tees was excellent, cut to perfect height. Fairways were a little spotty and had some bare spots and brown spots, but they weren't in the landing areas. I never had a bad lie all day and only missed two fairways. Rough wasn't too penal in the fairways, but around the greens it was a little higher. Still, didn't have much problems and always seemed to be consistent, no big bare spots or horrible lies. Found one bunker and it was in good shape. Good softness underneath, easy to escape. Greens were in good to great shape. They held shots well and putted very smooth. One of the highlights, for sure. Teed off on time at 2;10pm. POP was an easy 4.25hrs, relaxing with waiting on a few holes, but never felt rushed or overly long wait. Paid $44 to ride, I think I saw a $41 on golfnow. Rack rate is $46 for Friday, but they give you $2 off if you make the teetime online, which I did. Check in was easy, saw the beverage cart a couple of times, plus they have the snack bar in the middle of the course that you pass a couple of times. However, it was closed by the time we passed it on the 14th tee.

I thoroughly like this layout. The par 3s are very difficult to score well, for some reason. I like the elevation changes, the water features, etc. Very peaceful, as well, no homes, which is nice. I would always recommend.

Played 6/26 in the morning. Pace was a little slow but not horrible at around 4.5 hours. Tee boxes are fine. Fairways weren’t great, with a lot of bare areas and places that are very overwatered (one really shouldn’t be dealing with mud balls constantly on tee shots in the fairway when there hasn’t been any recent rain). The rough is fairly thick and lush. Bunkers were mixed, with some sand very thin and others quite deep, and several that people hadn’t bothered raking. Greens weren’t great, being pretty slow and quite bumpy with a lot of ball mark damage - putting is tough when the ball is bouncing around so much.

A comment about the unraked bunkers and ball mark damage on the greens: we played behind a Men’s Club event and since much of the greens damage and bunker issues were clearly fresh it’s clear the source was the Men’s Club. C’mon AB Men’s Club players, take pride in your course and repair your damage!

Was 2nd off yesterday as a 3some following what seemed to be regulars in the first group. Not as fast as I expected to play being second off as the first group took their time. Still finished at 4 hours thou.

Greens have small holes punched but this didn’t effect putts in my opinion. The number of ball marks both unrepaired and repaired improperly were more of an issue. They rolled apfaster than they looked. Ran the first few putts quite a bit past the hole.

Fairways just ok. They are decent but there are just various spots throughout like different grasses/weeds/dead spots, etc.

Rough was actually surprisingly thick in a good number of areas. I actually almost lost a couple in there. There are areas that are not bad at all wouldn’t impact your shot selection so just be careful.

Sand was great. I was in a couple and they were raked nicely and ample sand. I was just in green side but fairways looked a little firmer.

I’d say it’s 50/50 right now, I’ve done seen better conditions and I’ve seen worse.

Played on Tuesday, 4/9 at 11am. Easy check in, booked a time online through the Navy website. $35 civilian rate to walk, easy course to walk for the most part. Great track and it was in very playable condition. POP was at 4hrs, never waited for much, at all. Moved right along. Starter was very friendly, came out and talked to us for a few minutes before we teed off and gave a couple of pointers on the first tee. Very nice.

Teeboxes were just fine. Nice and level without too much divot damage.

Fairways were hit and miss. A few of them had some bad spots in the middle of the fairways, but for the most part, I never had any issues, one bad lie all day.

Rough was a mixed bag, some holes very long and penal, others weren't very difficult. I found a lot of fairways, which is nice.

Found one trap and it was great. No problems.

Greens were in good shape, they held shots well. But I couldn't get a good read on them, didn't make hardly any putts, but I suck at putting, so that's the norm. They seemed to role just fine and were smooth.

Beverage cart was out a couple of times, but we used the halfway house instead, you hit it at 8 and 12.

Overall always a great time out here. Need to play it more often. Very good value.

Played earlier this week as the first off. Still a little damp after the rain but no standing water. Fairways were in need of mowing but I'd imagine as the course dried up some this week they might have been able to get the mowers out there. I think if this is done the rating would go up a few notches. There are still some patchy areas out there but that seems to be the norm and there is plenty of good areas (if it can get mowed).

Greens were good. I didn't putt really well so I'm not letting that influence my rating. I thought the front 9 greens were quicker than the back 9 greens. They rolled well, pretty smooth with not many unrepaired ball marks from what I saw.

With the rain the rough was up but still not too bad but there was a lot more grass in the native areas. For those that try to cut the corner on 11 you won't be getting any kicks off the hill side.

Sand was a little damp but still a good amount of sand in the bunkers. They just need to be attended to.

Tee box are ok. You'll find a spot to tee off from but some are a little uneven. Tee box 10 needs to be addressed thou, that one is really uneven.

For the price its good. I'll probably hold off until after the rains so they can get the proper maintenance done on the course. If you've seen this place in the past you know how brown it can get so sights of green are a welcome.
