Played a couple of times this past week. Overall course is ok and certainly good enough for my golf itch. Teed off in the morning both times and there was quite a bit of frost on the course. After it melted it seemed a little damp but I’m sure towards the afternoon you couldn’t tell.

Greens were ok. Faster in the beginning of the round. I couldn’t figure that out maybe the frost made the greens slick and the water after it melted slowed it down? Still a lot of ball marks out there.

Fairways were good. A lot of divots out there that need to be filled but it was good to hit from. A few bad areas in a couple of fairways.

Rough is not bad. A few areas the ball can settle down in but generally the rough won’t alter your shot selection.

Bunkers were nice. Probably the most sand I’ve seen in them and nice to hit from. They just need to be raked from the previous day.

Conditions will not wow you but the course has it challenging holes and pretty affordable that I’ll continue to keep it in my rotation.

Played earlier this week as first one out. Pace of play was not an issue at all finishing in about 3 hours 15 minutes. Overall course is in ok shape. Certainly has the looks of being dried out and browner but still very playable. They are getting water down on the course as there were some soft spots out there.

Greens are what was expected. A little slow in the morning as there was the morning dew slowing down putts to start but as the round went on they picked up a little pace. Still probably medium slow speed.

Fairways are ok. You'll generally get a decent lie but there are some iffy areas out there. Still the fairway on 12 has turf down but it looks like it didn't take and there are some big patches of dying turf. I don't know what it is about this section of the course but it always seems like they have a problem here.

Sand needs to be raked as there were several bunkers that still had footprints from the day before but the sand was actually pretty good to hit from. I was in greenside bunkers and not in a fairway bunker. The fairway bunkers looked a little firmer.

Staff is always great. For the price I still think it is a good value and offers some challenges. I always say these probably have the most difficult set of par 3s in San Diego.

Had a 12:45 time and since no one was out there they let me go with a group at 12:15. There was no one behind us all day. There was no one in front of us for the front 9 and we played that in about 1:45 but caught the groups in front of us on 10 and finished the round right at 3:45.

Greens are just ok. I thought they were a little worse this time than the last time I played here. Seemed slower and many more ball marks on the greens. I figured the afternoon round the greens would be much quicker but they actually seemed slower to me. On the back 9 greens there were a handful of greens where the mower that cut the greens was leaking oil so there were these oil tracks up and down the greens.

Fairways were really good. Good lies for the most part i did play off a semi brown/hardpan but the turf wasn't bad to hit from actually.

Rough was decent. I almost lost a ball because the rough was probably a little more than a ball deep but its kind of thin. My ball had rested down in a bare area but surrounded by grass so if I hadn't of almost stepped on it I probably wouldn't have found it. For the most part its pretty playable though.

I wasn't in a bunker but they looked decent.

Customer service was great considering they got me out earlier and because it was a little dry they had a couple of marshals out there making sure people had plenty of water.

All in all for the price its not bad. I think they are doing maintenance the 2nd week of October and it might be worth waiting. For the price and considering other courses are also performing maintenance I could be swayed either way right now.

Wow. Admiral Bakers North is in great condition right now. I wasn't taking the pro shop serious when they were boasting about how nice the course was. They were right. They did admit the greens were tore up with divot because of how much play they have received. Outside of the greens the course is the nicest conditons I have ever seen here. They must have added new sand to all of the bunkers because it was the perfect consistency and of the high quality crushed granite I prefer. Major upgrade in the bunkers sand as well as lip conditions than I remember. The fairways were great. The kokuya rough was angry and penalizing which added a nice element to needed difficulty here. It looks like they updated their cups and they seemed to be cut better. The greens were medium to slow speed rye which was tough to be aggressive on due to overpowering the putt. While the condition of the grass wasn't bad the greens have been absolutely pelted and the damage they have taken shows. Very difficult to make long putts as they weren't rolling well. I love the layout because the course forces you to use every one of your shots while not being a difficult course. Outside of the ball marks Admiral Baker is a hidden gem right now.

Played a couple of times this week and this review summarizes those reviews. Played as a 2some both days and one time was 2nd off and the other 4th off. After passing a slow 4some in front of us both days it was pretty smooth sailing and finished both in 3 1/2 hours.

Course seems to be overwatering all over. The course is very green and I think this time last year it was pretty dry and brown. But with the watering there were some puddles out there and with the heat you could feel the humidity coming off the ground. I'm sure there is a reason why they are doing this but I think it is a little too much water.

Because there was so much water you could see footprints on the greens. You could also see ball marks. Some of my shots made some rather large marks and I just have to think no matter how well it is repaired there is still going to be an effect on the green. You could see marks on most greens. The pace was medium speed at best but all things considering still rolled decently.

Fairways are nice. Good coverage throughout the course. There are some areas marked in white as GUR.

That rough could be sticky thou. Even some lies I thought were good my club just got caught up in the kikuyu.

Great customer service through out the course from starter, marshal, and pro shop. Marshal comes around with ice water which was much needed.

Overall I don't think the conditions would ever be mistaken for a top end course but the conditions are good enough and the price offers a good value.

Love this course but not when they just punched the greens and very sandy. No mention of maintenance when booking tee time, paying green fees, checking out cart or at starter booth. We didn't find out until we walked up to our par putts on #1. Next time I will ask before booking.

Played on a beautiful Thursday afternoon with 14Over in our GK cup 10 match. The weather was great with the wind coming into play on a few holes. The course is in above average shape now.

Played on a beautiful Thursday afternoon with 14Over in our GK cup 10 match. The weather was great with the wind coming into play on a few holes. The course is in above average shape now.

Tee boxes were great, good coverage and easy to find a place for a tee. Fairways were all pretty lush with very few brown spots. Never had a bad lie when I was in the fairway. The rough was good in most parts. Greens were hard for me today. Most played slow and a few played fast. All the greens were in good to great shape with a few mall marks here and there. The sand was nice. It was very white thin sand pretty easy to play from.

Pace of play was around 4.5 hours with waiting on most holes. It is a fairly busy course so not much you can do about that.

As I was checking in another golfer told me they would be punching the greens starting Monday (June 12). Not sure if it is true but you may want to call before heading over to play.

Was first off this morning by myself as the 2some that was scheduled to be first kindly let me jump ahead of them on the first tee. Only a brief hold up on #3 as the maintenance workers was finishing watering the green but other than that I really didn't have anyone holding me up and the 2some behind me was about a 1/2 hole behind me. Finished in 2 1/2 hours.

Greens are actually pretty good. A little slow first thing in the morning with the water on them but pretty smooth. I did see some unrepaired ball marks out there and being first off it was probably from yesterday. I'd imagine they'd get much faster was the green dries out.

Fairways have improved with the exception of hole 12. They are doing some resodding there again. It seems like they can't get the fairway down there right. More consistent grass throughout I thought. Previously you'd get some patchy areas but there are far less from what I saw. There were some wet spots in the fairways from the overnight watering.

Rough has some thickness to it. I actually had to search for my ball on one and it settled down just to the right of the fairway bunker. Its still hit or miss with some areas that are not bad to hit from.

Tee boxes are generally good. I recall the markers on hole 10 are not in a good spot as it was kind of uneven. Par 3s had some divot damage but looked to be filled in.

Overall a very enjoyable course and with these conditions certainly worth a look before they punch in a couple of weeks.

Played yesterday morning and was the 2nd group off. Pace was great, finished in 3 hours 15 minutes. A little frost out there but not on the greens. There are only a couple of spots of standing water but the only one that came into play was right around the 150 yd marker in the right rough on hole 16. Everything else was not in a "normal" area you'd expect to hit from.

Greens rolled pretty well and certainly got faster as the round progressed. I was a little disappointed in the number of ball marks (hopefully I'm using the correct terminology) on probably the front 9. There seemed to be way too many marks not being repaired. I do think the back 9 doesn't show this as much.

Fairways are nice to hit from especially since the rough is a little up right now. There were mowers out there so they may be cut here soon as the course starts drying out. Fairways still can get patchy in places but it doesn't bother me. It's more of patches of different grass not grass and dirt.

Rough like I said was up and a couple of guys in our group did lose a ball or two. For the most part its playable but it could sit down a little more than usual. Again with the mowers out there they could be cutting it down.

I was in the left bunker on 17 and it was very nice. All the bunkers that I noticed looked to have been raked and had nice sand to hit from. You can really try and splash it out, get that thud sound.

Everyone was super helpful and friendly here. The cart girl started make her rounds as we were walking up 18. For $30 I think it's a good value. I don't think the conditions will ever wow anyone but the course is plenty playable and provides a good test of golf. I always argue that this may be the toughest collection of par 3s in SoCal.
