8/3 from the blues 6292 70.5/131 using under par $68 2some with a 1000 am start but given the option of going right to the tee by the starter Lou--so off at 900 and done by 1--playing behind the last of mens club with occasional waiting but not bad. Coming from San Clemente we usually allow extra time in case of traffic issues and this course in particular is very accommodating sending us off early as space allows--good golfer friendly customer oriented service and friendly welcoming people through out the staff.
Fairways are green with excellent cover firm enough but with good cushion, nary a bad lie. Rough cut down to about an inch slightly longer around the greens. Tees are lush and level.
Bunkers have ample sand but were very wet on the front 9 some with standing water--back 9 bunkers had no issues were groomed and golfers here also know how to use the rakes.
Greens are smooth rolling medium fast and fairly soft--type of grass is fine bladed
and with the softness ball marks need to be carefully repaired many of which were not leaving brown spots or quarter sized bare spots--didnt affect the roll but detracted from the look. Rather benign pin placements today so most putts had less break.
There has been no aerating and it is not scheduled until October.
Even though the course winds through housing there is an "out in the wild" feeling to the lay out. Always enjoy playing here good conditions-- good people-- take advantage of the golf moose voucher and check it out.

Played 7/23 at 1pm we got out with no wait and nobody in front of us. The Marshall informed us that there was a two some in front of us that tee;d off about 15 mins prior and were walking the course. we did see them a few time but never had to wait for any shots. Course was a bit windy and it was nice because the temp was in the high 80's low 90's so the wind made it less miserable. Plus a 2 for 80 on golf moose is a great deal for here. The Pro Shop rep did let us know that you can find the same price on travelocity as golf moose but get a pitcher of beer and range balls so just a little info if needed. As noted in the previous review the greens have not been punched yet so that was a plus.

Tee- level and good coverage of grass. a few divot issues on the par three but not enough to bother you.

Fairways- These fairways were very nice and had full coverage of grass that was very green except for i believe hole 12 where it looks like they are working on turf removal to be more Eco friendly.

Greens- The greens were cut short and looked like glass. they were a bit firm at time and then a bit soft on a few like 18 which had a lot of divot issues. That is partly due to the design and even when you fix a divot there is still showing of the mark. The cool thing about this course is every 2 or 3 holes they have signs telling people how to fix their ball mark which I like because some people do not know the right way to mark a ball.

Rough- Rough is in good shape running 1-3 inches on depth depending on where you are and how far offline you get from the tee. No really issue here

Sand- This was my least favorite thing about arrowood because the sand that I was in could use a nice truck full of sand. They were firm and a little difficult to get under as I had a few flyers come out of the sand.

In all my first impression of this course was great and I would definitely play here again.

Played Arrowood for the first time on Saturday morning. My friend got a couple of the Golfmoose deals (2 for $99) to fill out our foursome. Greenskeeper has an aerated warning, but the greens haven't been punched yet. I think they are due though. The greens were cut pretty low and tight, but would hold a well-struck ball. It was hard to repair a ball mark without leaving a brown mark on the green. That said, as glassy as the greens looked, they didn't putt extremely fast. I left my first five or six putts a foot or two short because I couldn't adjust to putts that looked lightening fast but actually weren't.

I enjoyed the layout of Arrowood. A lot of the views from the tee box gave the holes a really challenging look, but once you got to your ball you would see that the course opened up more than you could initially see. The first few holes did have some spongy, wet areas in the morning, but these were soon gone as the day heated up. The fairways were pretty tight and generally in good shape, with just a couple of brown patches and ground-under-repair, and many had forgiving slopes on the edges that would feed the ball back towards the middle of the fairway. The sand was coarse, gravel-y, and pretty shallow, but it was also surprisingly consistent and well-raked.

A very nice marshal greeted us as we left the ninth green, and asked us if we were enjoying our day. He then asked us if we were ready for the more challenging back nine, especially holes #12, 16, and 18. He wasn't joking. #16 may be the toughest par 4 I've played in years, 442-yards from the blue tees, downhill but going into a pretty good 10-15 mph breeze. And there's a pond that surrounds the green. I have to say my heart was beating a little faster as I had to hit a fairway wood approach, into wind, over water.

The beverage cart came by three times, and the very friendly beverage cart woman made sure to let us know that her name was Wendy, every time she saw us, and that she would be back soon (Hi Wendy!). She was needed on a day in the high-80s, as were the several ice cold water stations on the course. The range and the practice greens were pretty nice, although I wish more of the range mats had longer rubber tees for hitting driver. I enjoyed my experience, and would like to get this course into my regular rotation.

I played on Friday, 7-22, 3:00 tee time, high in the upper 80's. The course is starting to show some wear as we get deeper into summer. Fairways, tee boxes, and greens were all in pretty good shape though, but quite a few ball marks on the green. The fairways were punched a while ago but it doesn't generally affect play. It's in about the same condition as Encinitas Ranch, which I played earlier in the week. The heat scared away some folks so POP was pretty good. With the weather this hot I like to stay near the coast, and this is about as far inland as you can go and not fry on the hottest days. Almost always a breeze here, which makes hitting over the water on 18 a tough shot. Don't be tempted, as I was, to go for it when the pin is up.

I gotta agree with D-Con about #13. They're making a waste area right where you want to land the ball. Not much chance to reach in two if you come up short of it. Once it's finished there's probably not much chance of rolling through it, and if you can fly it, well, you're probably playing from the wrong set of tees. Management should either suck it up and fix the drainage problem, or take out those bunkers on the right to give us a place to hit our shots.

7/13 using underpar $68 2some voucher on a pleasant but breezy 1-2 club morning. Arrived early and thanks to Lou the superb, friendly, efficient, golfer oriented starter we were off after a quick warm up. 5 holes before catching up with mens club but very little waiting--POP 3 3/4 hours.
Fairways have good cover mostly green nice lies nice cushion. Short rough along most fairways with longer more grabby stuff around the greens. Tees in good shape level and lush. Traps were groomed full of heavy sand very playable greenside but tough from the fairways. # 4 has a monster bunker in a great landing area--just seems to gobble up drives--big lip 180+ from the green at best can get out with a 7 iron but usually a pw or 9. Today also very wet as well--still out in 1 to about the 100 but no up and down today.
Greens looked a little crusty but rolled well and got faster as the day went on. Again soe challenging pins made more so by being on the wrong side of the hump or above the hole.
Nice day also got to visit with Brent another starter doing marshall duty--checking to keep the course moving--doing a bang up job with the POP under 4.

Played at 10:28 am on a sunny warm Sunday morning, 6/26/2016. Thanks to GKer rat-patrol for the initial invite, and we were able to scout various green fee options to get a final rate of $48 each. We were hoping that others would respond to a Meet-Play post, but Jim and I wound up playing as a twosome behind two other foursomes.

I’d played here several times in the past, and I enjoy the layout and the usually-good conditions. The course today was in the roughest shape I’ve seen it, and both Jim and I were disappointed in what we found. Greens were firm and very thin, with sand peeking out from scattered bare spots. All had a number of scattered ballmarks, none of them mine since I wasn’t able to hit many greens. They rolled well at medium-fast speed.

Fairways were tight and firm but generally gave good lies. Rough in most areas was cut short and very playable, although many green run-ups had more lush grass that grabbed the ball and made you concentrate on your chipping. I was only in one fairway bunker and sand quality was good. Tees were level but a little soft. Par-3 tees had a few divots but not too bad – all par-3s had sand bins, but no scoops!

Carts are basic – no GPS, but each hole has 100, 150, and 200 yard posts along the sides, some sprinklers are marked, and most holes have distance plates every 25 yards alongside the fairways. Most greens are fairly large without too much crazy movement, and pin locations today were all reasonable.

Driving range was on mats today – don’t know who they are saving the grass for. Starter was efficient and got us out a few minutes early, but the single who was slated to join us couldn’t be found, so we went out as a twosome backed up to two foursomes. We saw the cart girl several times. A course staff member was circulating with a water cooler. Restrooms are in pretty rough shape but serviceable. An area that has some chronic drainage problems is being converted to a large waste bunker area in the middle of #13 – right out there at the end of “good strike” range for us guys from the blue tees – Jim just trickled into it after a strong drive. It will take a big blast to get over it, and being just short leaves about 240 yards uphill to the plateau green (calling Mr. mpisarski and his 3-wood!!).

Pace of play could have been quicker at about 4.5 hr. We turned the front in just over 2 hours, and the group in front stopped for refreshment, so we moved up behind a group of 30-somethings doing a lot of drinking, standing around talking, and playing the wrong tees. These guys were losers – driving around the fairways and greens on par-3s, continually driving inside the ‘no carts’ signs, and driving on many other sensitive areas. They didn’t rake bunkers and were well over a hole behind when we finished. Only time we saw a course employee on the back nine we were told they were in position, after we had just clearly seen a completely open hole in front of them. No other course staff out to protect their golf property.

I’ll definitely go back to Arrowood, but I hope that conditions are better than today.

Had a 10:28 tee time with the one and only D-Con, they got us just after 10. I arrived early to work on my short game a bit as they have a pretty nice pitch and chip area with a sand trap. Range was off mats and the putting green was OK, a bit rough in spots but a precursor to what was to come. The greens were quite disappointing, I gave them a 4 and that may have been a bit generous. They were scruffy, bumpy, pocked with ball marks, very thin on grass in spots, even good shots released quite a bit, the ball would leave a mark but the ball would then rollout. All that made it quite difficult to make putts. The bunkers were so-so filled with a "sand" brown dirt mixture and a bit inconsistent, but playable. Tee boxes were fine, rough minimal but quite sticky in the thicker spots, fairways were good, a bit of roll out and good to play from. POP was a bit over 4.5 hrs, would have been faster if not for the drinkers who popped up in front of us on the 10th tee (I think the original group in front of us either played through these idiots, jumped a hole or simply quit out of frustration). These guys (30 somethings) actually drove across the walking bridge on 16 and drove around the green (they always parked/drove somewhere completely inappropriate), ridiculous, one marshall said they weren't falling behind but there was open holes in front of them, another marshall talked as if he was afraid to say anything? Besides that customer service was excellent as always from starter to, pro shop.
I really enjoy the layout here, but must say the greens were a big turn off today . . . I'll be back, just hope the greens improve!

6/8 the blues 6292-- underpar $68 2some on a pleasant balmy day--had 1012 tee time but Brent the magician and starter sent us off a little before 930 as a 2some about 30 min behind mens club following a 3some--hardly any waiting even though we were in the fairways a lot and didnt have to look for balls 320 POP fantastic--again another example of how golfer oriented the staff are here--GO PLAY ENJOY YOUR ROUND!! Fairways are green lush great lies and decent roll-- some unfilled divots but not for lack of staff attention just lazy duffers. Bunkers are full of heavy sand and today very well maintained recently groomed and attended to by the golfers that were there before me. Fairway bunker on 4 is a beast deep face had to lay out with a 9 iron and fairway bunker on the left on 5 is flat but half the fairway seems to slope into it-- same sand as greenside ones but did hit out from 120 to back fringe and 2 putted for a par--sweet revenge. tees lush and level. Rough is thick 1-2 inches taking length from the shots but in general very playable but tricky around the green to judge how it will come out. Greens have some mixed grasses but despite the look roll very well at medium fast speed. Todays pin placements were on the easier side with less severe breaks but did notice that the back pin placements were about as far back a legal. Big greens 2 clubs at least from front to back. Really nice condition good layout nice helpful people fun outing

5/23 using underpar $68 2some from the blues club/club 1/2 westerly wind pleasant temps. tees level good cover. greenside bunkers well filled with rather firm sand--low spots a little wet underneath but very playable. fairway traps a little fluffy for my liking as the ball tended to sit down and was hard to advance. rough is plentiful 1-2 inches slows down shots and some times thick enough to make getting good contact challenging.
fairways are being plugged and dragged--some had obvious holes but still had good lies through out the day. grass is getting green with good cushion.
greens are firm and fast with tricky reads.
pop an unusually slow 440. good friendly customer service.
