3/21 using Under Par $32 voucher for 1130 tee time arrived 1 hr early because traffic from San Clemente can be tricky into Oceanside. Starter Henry asked if we wanted to go early and put us directly on the tee.(another example of the high golf IQ and customer service quality) POP 4 1/2 hr 2 on the front then slowed down but didnt seem that bad overall.
Fairways are getting greener and ave good cushion with good lies overall. The rough is growing rapidly and was wirery and snarly around the green.
Sand traps were of good quality. Tees were good overall.
Greens appear splotchy with a mix of grasses, quite firm and rolled better than expected due to the appearance. Todays pin placements were wicked in corners of the green often near the fringe and when in the middle were usually close to a drop off. For the most part I did ok with the speed(except on 16 had 60+ft across the green to a pin on the edge--too much speed and off the green down into the water---there is a !st time for everything I guess) but sure had trouble with the breaks on putts that were pin high or slightly above.
Good track and good people looking forward to coming back later this spring.

3/9 Played the blues 6293 using Under Par 2x$64 voucher pop 4-20 on another 70* day with hardly any breeze and no cart restrictions 2 days after the rain.
Fairways are getting green still firm but good cushion and good lies, very little dormant areas left and definitely no bare spots. A few unsanded but not bad. Some rough is growing along the fairways but for the most part is not heavy or difficult to hit from. The rough around most of the greens is thick rather narly and for me hard to read to control the distance makes for fun golf shots if you like that kind of challenge.
Bunkers were freshly groomed and well maintained and for the most part today golfers knew what the rakes were for. Texture about the same for fairway and green side bunkers.
Tees are lush level and well maintained.
The greens appear to have multiple types of grass creating a splotchy camo look which only visually detracts from their overall quality, being firm smooth and deceptively fast especially down hill. Depending on pin location the greens can have considerably more break from 20 to 30+ feet away then not as much from 6 feet in and the 3 footer for the 3 putt is pretty straight.
Customer service is top notch, the starters always try to get us out on time or sooner. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. Snack/drink cart was available 2x per 9.
fun layout with nice variety of holes and even with houses along the course there is a real out in the wild feel.

Played the blues 6292 with under par $72 for twosome in 4-- 20. High 70s with a light breeze, not bad for winter. 1000 tee time but starter Brent sent us out 30 min early, another example of the golfer oriented customer service and welcoming attitude here.
Tee boxes level with good cover. Fairways are getting a little green to them but even being some what dormant the lies were really good with nice cushion. No rough to speak of except along right side of 17 which I found of course. Divots are about 60 % filled. No real excuse as sand is provided, just lazy duffers as golfers would take better care.
Sand traps are filled with ample sand generally looked to be recently groomed. No apparent difference between fairway and green side bunkers as to sand consistency. There are multiple rakes available and are generally used with one or two exceptions.
The greens are firm medium fast with some po ana present, but roll pretty well.

really good lay out good variety fairways in good shape even with dormant grass, some rough around the greens and adjacent fairways not heavy but would affect distance
the greens were firm and fast and for me hard to read subtle breaks and placed a premium on pace
bunkers were consistent with firmly packed playable sand got lots of practice out of 7 of them
staff really get providing a great golf experience friendly and helpful

Played on 9/11, weather was breezy for which I was very thankful for. The course in is great condition now, tee boxes are fine, greens are nice and bunkers were a little inconsistent. Overall course is very nice and if your in the area, Arrowood and Camp Pendleton(Marine Memorial) just around the corner, are a hard combo to beat...BTW, senior price is 48.00 with cart

Played this course for the first time on Saturday and really enjoyed it. Fairways were in great shape and the rough can be tough. The greens rolled great but were very hard so it was tough to get at the pins in the front of the greens. The layout is great and playing the course a few times would be very helpful.

Played 7-11-15 early afternoon in a little under 4 hours as a twosome. Tee boxes were lush and not really un-level but lumpy to where you had to search for a spot that didn't feel like your foot was in a hole. Fairways were in nice shape with some minor brown areas that looked more like the mower level was to low. Rough was not that thick and easy to hit from. Sandtraps were a little from with a grainy crusty sand but overall not to bad. Greens were rolling medium speed and very bumpy, mostly from un- repaired ball marks and a lot of foot prints. Liked the layout of this course but would not pay full rack rate to play here.

Played Saturday June 6th with the wife. We played our morning round using our $87 twosome underpar deal. I really like this course. Good friendly staff. Nice practice area and a well conditioned course. Yes you do have to get used to the tight Bermuda fairways that a are a bit tricky (at least to me) when hitting shorter approach shots. Finished up the round and still had a ton of gas in the tank so we paid for a replay at $45 each and glad we did....Wife finally broke 90 on this course, so money well spent.

Played my first round since shoulder surgery at 3:00pm on Saturday as dconnally and divotnjay were duking it out in their GK Match (congrats Jay on an exceptional round!). Course is one of my favorites in Northern San Diego with a good use of elevation changes, natural areas, and contouring.

That being said I've seen the course in better condition. You can tell management has reduced the water on the grass as the entire course plays very firm from tee to green. While I don't fault the course for that (SoCal golfers better get used to firm greens with the ongoing drought), this course was never designed to play firm and fast so it detracts from the overall experience. Most greens are either elevated or heavily protected in the front which forces you to carry the ball into the green, but due to the firmness it was difficult to get the ball close.

Other than the firmness, the greens were a bit slower than norm and had some damage, but nothing too abnormal for a public tract.

The fairways look to still be recovering from a cross cutting aeration that looks a few weeks old so it left them a little thin. Nothing major, just not ideal.

I found 6 sand traps throughout the day and they were very consistent with plenty of sand. Just be aware, this course does not use a real fine, "tour grade" sand (that white fluffy stuff you see on TV) but rather a courser, heavier industrial sand (I think its called River Sand).

All in all, definitely recommend Arrowood, especially at the twilight rate.
