Sunday, tee time 9:10am. Teed off a couple minutes behind schedule, no big deal. POP was right at 2hrs, perfectly acceptable out here. We waited just about every shot, but nothing horrendous.

Tee boxes were pretty beat up, but this place gets a lot of play, so that's understandable. Still found some decent spot for the tee, just took a minute to find it.

Fairways were pretty nice. No complaints.

Didn't find a bunker, but they looked just fine. They were having a kids Jr. league tournament right behind us so you could tell the grounds crew put a little extra effort in this morning, in fact they were still out there tidying up a few things last minute.

Greens were pretty darn good. They had them rolling smooth and they were very quick downhill and took the break a little more extreme than normal. I had a 4putt! They held shots perfectly.

No frills customer service, no problem. $23 to walk, resident rate is just fine. It's fun to play every once in awhile, especially if you don't want to spend most of the day devoted to a round of golf.

Always recommend, especially with new or novice golfers.

It's been about a decade since I played the small course here. We played yesterday, Sunday, at 10:48am. POP was right at 2hrs even though we waited on just about every teebox, this place gets a lot of play. Everything right now is in good to very good condition. Teeboxes as suspected are a little beat up, but they're fairly level except number 5, and all have pretty good coverage.

Fairways are in great shape, a pleasure to hit from.

Found one bunker and it was just fine, no complaints.

Greens were good to very good. Definitely quick, beware. Stay below the hole. Lots of lip outs today, too.

Customer service just fine, no complaints. $22.50 to walk, resident rate, is just fine. Definitely recommend and really should get out here more often.

Played this course all through Covid. It's a fun quick easy course Great for Beginners or someone looking for target practice.

Only gripe I have is with one young staff Member at the Check in choosing to be combative for no reason really, and use body language that does not represent Customer Service. Although, they are known to have sketchy Front Desk attendence to the community from what I have heard.

Overall, Fun fast easy casual course!!!

They had just been verticut and sanded and where rolling fast and true. fairways had been punched recently and rough was not to tough. Tee boxes where just OK. Good POP too. Had a good time just wish I had made a few Putts. Go play Now or wait a week and it will be 9/10.

Last minute went to Balboa to try and get out before twilight . . . I mean it's been cold and rainy for days I thought I had a shot, nope. Booked up, first spot 12:52. Seeing how packed it was and that many of the golfers that I was seeing go out before me, well, how do I say this kindly? They didn't look like golfers . . . sooooo no one was going out on the 9 and I haven't played it since I played it with Keith/sixpez on his quest to play everywhere large and small.
So I went out by myself, never waited, hit two balls here and there and was done in around an hour. The course was in good playable condition with some wet areas, debris from the wind piled up here and there but mostly clean. Greens were in fantastic condition rolling true and fast. Bunkers were almost perfect and fun to play from (I was in a couple and hit a few shots from another), the rest of the course was fine, but nothing spectacular, plenty playable. Great to have that option for a quick 9!

Solid conditions. Greens rolled true, albeit on the soft side. Fairways overall were solid. Some of the tees, like 4, were quite unlevel and there were bare spots in some areas overall. Still, it's a great place to bring the family to play and how can one complain with being in and out in 2 hours? Play it!

Played here yesterday (7/12) with fellow GK member molebio. Hadn't played the course in some time but was surprised to see it empty. Perhaps it was the heat, perhaps the foot golfers finally ran the locals out with their insanely dangerous presence on a golf course. Either way got around the 9 holes in about 1.5 hours and it was a delight to play today. Conditions were excellent considering the latest heat, water conservation efforts, and amount of play this track receives. On to the conditions:

Tee boxes: They were just in okay condition, however I never struggled to find good footing or ground to drive the tees into. There are really only two options and today they all seemed bunched up, so I am sure that doesn't help conditions. Moreover, there are now orange "tees" for the foot golfers to kick from so I wouldn't be surprised to see the turf chewed up.

Fairways: Excellent shape. Only found myself in one bad lie, but otherwise they were green, trimmed, and gave plenty of roll. In terms of conditions, I was pleasantly surprised.

Rough: Not as penal as its big brother next door but you still want to avoid it. The rough has never been the problem here, the eucalyptus have always been a greater danger to your game.

Sand: I wasn't in a bunker today but molebio hit out of the fairway bunker on #5 and told me it was surprisingly good sand. By the looks of it, it was closer on the scale to the white fluffy stuff as opposed to the brown dirt that you might find at say Salt Creek (sorry S.C. but it's true).

Greens: Excellent! They were green, cut tight, and ran well. There were some surprising little breaks too. They were fun to putt on, and isn't that the true test?

ETC: Customer service was fine (friendly as usual), however they didn't call us out and we could have easily waited to hear our names had we been out-of-towner's. I actually miss the old starter who had a booth right behind the first tee. Walked the course of course and it's a perfect little walk for exercise purposes. No foot golfers today which really made the difference! Parking ample as always. A nice option for those not wanting to play the big brother. Recommended!

Enjoyed a nice 9 holes here with Rat-Patrol today. It was busy, but we were able to get out earlier than our tee time and things moved along well enough. The price is a bit steep at $23 walking rate as a non-resident, but it's a solid course that's a nice complement to its big brother. As Jim noted, the course was in very nice shape. The tee boxes were good. The fairways were mostly great with only a few bare spots here and there. The rough was pretty good throughout. I don't think either of us was in a bunker, so no comments there. The greens were fantastic! The layout is much more simple and straightforward than the full course, but providing just enough challenge to keep you interested. There's a weird stretch where the 6th and 7th are very drivable par-4s (238 and 218 respectively) followed by the 198-yard par-3 8th, which I swear plays just as long—if not longer—than either of those previous holes. Basically, you have two good birdie/eagle opportunities followed by one you just hope to scratch out a par, but are still not too sad about a bogey.

There were people out and we waited on almost every shot but nothing too bad. The course was in good condition and the greens were very nice. I haven't played the 9 hole in years but now wonder why, it's a quick nice golf fix!
