Played yesterday, Sat, Oct 5. Called proshop around 9am and they said come out and put my name on the waitlist so I got there around 10am and got out about 10:30. $55 to walk. POP was just shy of 5hrs, seems like it's always busy at this course and people just don't seem to play very fast out there. No marshall, no beverage cart, but snack bar is conveniently located by four different teeboxes.

Conditions overall aren't very good.

Blue tees were about the only decent part of the course. They were level and had plenty of space to find a nice spot to tee it up.

Fairways were poor to very poor. Lots of dirt, standing water at times, chewed up areas and nothing is marked GUR, so I played it down but my suggestion would be to play these areas as GUR and don't punish yourselves.

Not much rough to speak of at this course, just dirt in the trees for the most part. I only missed two fairways, both times ended up right at the base of a tree and had to punch out.

Greens were very bumpy, looked like they punched them a few weeks ago. No sign of sand and they held shots very well, but very difficult to putt with all the bumpiness. Fairly frustrating.

Didn't find any bunkers, so can't comment on them but they looked "ok".

Customer service was all good

Tough to recommend right now due to poor fairways and greens. It's only saving grace is it's a fun layout, walkable and affordable. Got paired up with three awesome guys and we had a blast anyway. One of the guys (Brady) was a stick!! Fun to watch him play, I had him shooting even par and I tried to keep up with my 79. He also walked, so we had a lot of good conversation. Brady's teacher Bryan Gorman is a pro there and actually came out to say hello and followed us on holes 8&9, that was kinda cool.

Played yesterday, Sunday, Dec 17. Tee time 6:50am, walking, $50. Great POP at 4hours. Course is in playable shape, but definitely has some flaws. Teeboxes were just ok, they're doing quite a bit of work on them, some were newly sodded and were great, others were chewed up and not very level. Mixed bag, but not impossible to find a decent spot to tee it up.

Fairways were also a mixed bag. Some were awesome while others were awful. We were taking some relief in the fairway as there was a lot of bare spots on several holes, calling it "ground under repair" because some of the areas in the fairways were just dirt.

I found one bunker and it was nice. They're doing quite a bit of work on the bunkers and it shows. Nice sand and proper cushion.

Greens didn't look all that good, mixed grasses and a lot of ball marks. But they held shots well and downhillers were super quick. A few greens were bumpy, but overall no huge complaints. They were totally acceptable.

Customer service was good all around. No beverage cart, but you go by the snack shack a couple of times. Enjoyed the day and will continue to play Bonita about once a year. It's a fun layout, just wish it was in a little better shape.

Course as usual is in decent playable condition. The greens were great, 8/10. Held shots well and were smooth with good medium-fast pace. Definitely the highlight of the course. Teeboxes were also good, no complaints. I found one bunker and it was nice, good fluffy sand. There's not much rough to speak of, it's playable off the fairway. The fairways were a total mixed bag. Crazy as about half of the fairway is great, unbelievably nice grass and then there's big patches of dirt, no grass, mud, etc. These areas should be marked GUR, but they aren't, so I had to play it down a couple of times where it lies and was very unfair. If they would get these large patches of dirt/mud figured out, then the course would be in overall fantastic shape. It's an enjoyable layout, couple of short par 4's that I don't like, but other than that it's very fun. Service was all just fine.

A little late on the review, sorry. Played on Good Friday, 4/2. Paired up with three great guys, retired SD fireman. Very busy (as most courses are right now). I was going to put my name on the list, but I stopped to grab a couple beers at a nearby liquor store and saw a guy loading his cooler and I noticed his clubs in the back of his Jeep so I said seeya at the course, I'm putting my name on the list. He said there's only three in his group, so I just invited myself into their group, thanks for letting me join. We teed off at 2:15 and finished as the sun went down, so POP wasn't that great, 5 hrs, but we had a great time nonetheless.

Course is in playable shape all around. Nothing stood out as spectacular, but nothing was awful, either. The greens have some "disease" around the edges and fringes, but around the cups were all good and smooth and fast!! Teeboxes were all level, but had quite a bit of divot damage. Fairways were in pretty good shape, firm with some roll. Potential for some poor lies. I found one fairway bunker and it was just fine, I didn't find any greenside bunkers, so can't comment. Still no rakes, however. Paid $25 to walk, which is a great deal for twilight rate for this course. Glad they weren't charging holiday rates. Easy course to walk. Didn't see the beverage cart, but there's a snack bar you pass by several times during the round. Friendly staff, no marshal, I don't think I've ever seen a marshal here. No frills course that's fun to play. Recommend.

I was trying to figure out the last time I was here and discovered that was prior to joining GK. Yes that was long ago and I realized father time has not been kind to my memory. I couldn't remember anything about this place. The course was super busy with a lot of people hanging out by the clubhouse/patio dining area. I was a little worried that the round was going to be long and while we did wait a lot it only took 4 1/2 hours.

Course itself is pretty short but trees align most fairways. Any wayward tee shots will find the adjacent fairways unless you hit into walking/running/horse trail that is part of the Sweetwater park. Water only comes into play on 17 and 18. I walked and was surprised when I looked at my phone how much I walked, almost 6 1/2 miles and the course is only 6200 yds. It's a pretty flat walk but with the heat out there standing in the sun can be draining. The good news is with all the trees there is plenty of shade to find a spot.

The course itself is ok. It seems they have been overwatering the course. There were some damp spots out there. Given the amount of play this course gets the greens could use some TLC. Many ball marks on the greens and they certainly could be rolled as a few putts were quite bumpy. There were some greens that were really really good though.

Fairways and rough are about the same. Fairways do have some good spots, some bares spots and some GUR. The rough is not penalizing but like the fairway it's a mixed bag of what you'll get.

The one bunker I was in was good and the others looked pretty similar. Tees boxes were ok. Again with the amount of play and considering the yardage you have people hitting all sorts of clubs off these tees.

The bar and restrooms look they have been renovated relatively recently as the decor seemed to be more modern. Staff and service was great. Price and the distance is a little too much for me to consider but if the conditions were a little better and it wasn't so hot out there I'd think about it.

While this course is not an exciting layout, it never disappoints for quality of greens, great bunker sand, level tees, and service. The course is only about 6,000 yards long from the tips but every hole is lined with trees and that puts accuracy at a premium. The greens are usually smooth, fast, and rolled so the best advise is to leave your approach shots below the hole. You can score on this course with straight drives and smart approach shots. A good course to walk. Some bare spots due to salt accumulations in the fairways. Normally a 4 hour round except on busy days.

Played on Saturday, leap day. I don't recall ever playing on leap day in the past, so that's kind of cool. Went out with Nate and Jerry, good friends of mine, who will be becomming active members of this group very shortly. We teed off at 11:30 and POP was about 4.5hrs. A little waiting on quite a few teeboxes, but nothing too bad. I walked the course and at $46 it's not worth the green fee at this time. Teeboxes were just fine, not any huge issues. They were level enough and had decent coverage. Fairways were a mixed bag, fairly hard and dry for the most part, but I usually had some good lies, found a couple of divots, but they were thin enough to not cause a problem. I didn't find any bunkers, but they looked ok. Greens were pretty firm, rolled out about a half of club longer, so planned accordingly. They actually rolled pretty good. They had some dead spots around the perimeter on some of them, but didn't affect anything. They're doing a lot of construction, so there's a couple of teeboxes that were moved way up. 15 is a par 3 that's a joke now, it's like 65 yards with the back teeboxes under construction. Customer service was just fine. No beverage cart, but they have a halfway house that you pass a couple of times. Super friendly staff in the bar. I wouldn't recommend right now for the price. It's a $30 course right now. Jerry and Nate rode in a cart, so their round was $60, kind of a joke for that price.

Played Bonita today with new Gk’r GolfGoddess and her husband who live not far from the course. It was a nice choice for an inexpensive walking course. I was quite surprised upon arrival how busy the place was. There were players everywhere around the clubhouse and the restaurant/bar was packed at 10:30 am. After a quick breakfast we headed out on time for our 11:08 am tee time.

The course has several very fun, and many unremarkable holes. The more fun ones involved a carry over the wash, around a lake or a shot to a highly elevated green. The less interesting holes were just straight forward, tree-lined fairways. Three holes are playing shorter than normal due to pipeline construction.

This is one of the most potentially dangerous courses I’ve played. The routing is not clearly marked. There are so many narrow parallel fairways and cart paths crossing in front of rear tee boxes. Balls were flying everywhere and only twice did we hear “fore.”

Conditions were not great. The fairways were very thin with many bare spots. There were a lot of large areas marked GUR. The rough was very short. I was in two bunkers and the sand was surprisingly good. The greens played much better than they looked. There were a lot of patchy areas but mostly around the edges. As long as those were avoided, balls rolled quickly and smoothly. The tee boxes varied in grass condition but were all level.

Despite the very crowded course, we finished in just under 4 hours. Although better conditions would have been nice, we had a really fun time.
Lunch afterwards was pretty good too. I don’t think I would go out of my way to play here but if I’m already in the area I certainly wouldn’t mind.

Played on 12/31. It was a gloomy day and we had some rain, but not too bad. $35 to walk, not too bad. Course is in fine playable condition right now.

Fairways were thin and had some bad coverage, but the landing areas were generally good. I had one really poor lie in the middle of the fairway, but for the most part, the really bad areas were GUR.

Greens were a little firm, expect a little roll out on anything longer than a 7 iron. They putted fairly smooth. The front part of just about every green is chewed up with some sort of disease.

Rough is virtually non-existent. Wasn't a factor.

Found one trap and it was nice and fluffy. Looks like they put new sand in recently.

Teeboxes were mostly level with good coverage, never had any issue finding a good spot to tee it up.

POP was under 4hrs, teed off at 9am and done by 12:45. Good pace, we were only a threesome, so we had to wait a little bit, but not too bad, totally acceptable.

Overall, I like the layout, just needs to be in a little better shape. Good value and great customer service.
