Played yesterday, Sunday Nov 27. Called the starter at 11am and he said come on out, he should be able to get me out as a single pretty quickly. And he wasn't lying! I Got right out with another threesome, nice guys who went to high school together from Chula Vista. I did my best to promote Gker to these guys, so hopefully they will become active members soon.

$43 to walk on a Sunday is a good value. All customer service was good / great. Starter is always helpful and friendly. Proshop is no frills, but they get the job done. Beverage cart out and about, snack bar open, etc.

Course is all around in very playable good shape. Nothing deplorable, but nothing outstanding right now.

Teeboxes were fairly level with good coverage.

Fairways were thin with some bare spots, but the landing areas seemed to be all good, I personally didn't have any bad lies, but could see quite a few dead patches. They provided good cushion and good roll.

Rough wasn't penal, only an inch or so longer than the fairway, no problems.

Bunkers: I found one fairway bunker and it was good, didn't find any other bunkers, but they looked like they had fluffy sand. One guy was plugged against the face on the greenside bunker on #10, did not look fun, he had to go out sideways.

Greens: held shots very well. Still showing signs of aeration holes and they were a little bumpy, but they were fairly quick still. Couple of putts bumped/jumped off line, but no huge complaints.

POP was awesome, right at 4hrs on a beautiful sunny Fall day. Always an easy recommend, great views and a great course to walk.

Played for the first time. Had heard good things, and it lived up to the hype. Conditions were solid. Not as nice as Maderas or Torrey, but better than Balboa Park. Only weak area was the tees, which were a little spotty in terms of turf coverage and quality. The best thing about this course was the views. Lots of holes on or near the water. And with today being a holiday weekend, there were lots of boats (including yachts) and people on the water, which enhanced the view that much more. Definitely a course to put on your list when visiting San Diego.

Got out yesterday, Sunday as a walk on single. I seem to have good luck getting out on Sunday. I called the starter around 11am and he said there's a tourney going out from noon to 1:20, so he said come by around 1ish and I might have some luck. Well, he got me right out with another single so we took our sweet time and enjoyed the day.

Teeboxes were a little beat up for some reason. They had a couple of them moved way up and then most of them were moved way back. The par three's all were pretty ragged. The par4 and par5 tees were a little better, but still a little uneven and had some divot damage.

Fairways were just fine, no problems at all. Most of them in fact were in excellent shape. Good roll and perfect cushion.

Rough wasn't too penal at all. Barely noticed it. Even around the greens it was fairly short.

Greens were above average. They rolled true, but were spongy and a little slow. Held shots perfectly.

Didn't find a bunker, but they looked ok.

Customer service great on all levels. Beverage cart came by three times.

POP was under 5hrs, which was just fine. We knew it would be a little slow, which is generally the case at Nado. All and all, get out there. Fun course and great views.

Trekked down to San Diego and first time playing Coronado. No frills golf right next to Coronado bay. Tee sheet was packed but pace was a little over 4 1/2 hours. Had to wait on each shot but not too bad. Played with a 2some who drove the ball far and fun to play with.

Green conditions were great. Semi-fast to make it interesting but not too difficult as to frustrate us. The rest of the course was just so-so. Some bare spots on fairways, unfilled divots. Bunker had a thin film of sand just enough to get the club thru to splash out the ball.

Staff was hit or miss. Proshop person was there to do the job and nothing else. Took my $ and done. Starter on the other hand was super friendly. Chatted a bit. Beverage cart was around a few times but it was cloudy and chilly so didnt need anything.

They have a nice looking restaurant next to the clubhouse. Would have tried to eat there had it not for the late finish.

Overall, had a fun experience. Certainly will be back if in the area.

Coronado Golf Course is one the most well known municipal golf courses in California, if not the entire Country. Coronado Golf Course is one of the best values in all of golf whether you are a resident or not. The property itself is one of the most unique on the entire west coast; the entire course plays around the San Diego Bay and has some epic skyline views. That is why this is a go-to destination and recommendation for anyone visiting San Diego and want a true experience of what the city is like. As for the course itself, the draw is really the location. The front nine definitely needs some renovation. When the course first opened in 1957, the course played at 6,100 yards and as a par 75! The front nine had to be altered due to the construction of the Coronado Bridge taking some land from the course 10 years later. Coronado is a slicer’s paradise and can start to be monotonous layout, nearly every hole is a severe dogleg right. Very few holes play straight at Coronado and this old school course requires you to work the ball if you want any chance of success. The second hole is a rare hole dogleg left par 5 that plays right up to the San Diego Bay and directly into the wind. Playing at Coronado is golf’s version of a full beach day, meaning you need to be careful if you buy any food, every single thing I bought was stolen by birds while I was putting. ‘No-Break Coronado’ The third hole plays adjacent to the bay right under the Coronado bridge and is another good hole with great views of downtown San Diego. Coronado’s unique design features come into play as the course heads inland on the par 5 fourth hole with two separate greens, a really cool feature. The greens in general here are very undulating and it can be tricky to read the greens. ‘No break Coronado’ as its known. Coronado is one of the busiest and best municipal courses in the nation and definitely one of the walkable Trees that are abundant throughout the course making course knowledge crucial here. Cutting off corners barely helps in many situations, this is a difficult course to overpower despite its medium length. Working the ball significantly from left to right is more important than anything, Coronado has some of the most severe doglegs you will ever see. Trees are located on both sides of thÅe rough on virtually every hole. The weather, the venue and the atmosphere of Coronado is what makes this place special. As with any muni it is hit or miss and there are some very territorial locals that you have to deal with but that seems to be the case with any good municipal golf course, especially one located literally on the beach. One knock on the course is that the lake that surrounds the 8th and 9th holes is completely empty and surrounded by yellow tape. This has been the case for some time as the course is trying hard to make some much needed repairs but have been held up as development and redevelopment projects are difficult on Coronado Island. The back nine winds around the Glorietta Bay and approaches the famous Hotel Del Coronado. The Course really starts to shine on the 16th hole, the only hole in the city that plays across the San Diego bay. Holes 17 and 18 are strong finishing holes that wrap up a day at the beach nicely. Being one of the rare ocean-type courses in the city, Coronado is definitely a must play at least once, I recommend it to anyone visiting San Diego. I got a late invite from some new buddies to join them 7am this past Saturday, April 30. Beautiful morning, hardly any wind for the front nine. Check in was easy as usual and off we went right on time. POP was great!! 4hrs.!! I'm not used to playing here in the mornings, so it was great to see this POP. We saw a marshal once and beverage cart once on the back.

Everything is in pretty good shape right now. Greens are still a little bumpy from the aeration a few weeks ago, but they were faster than before. Couple more weeks and they should be back to great shape. Quite a few unrepaired ball marks.

Teeboxes were moved way up, we played the whites. They were fine, nice and level with minimal divot damage.

Found one bunker on 4 greenside and I was plugged, fried egg. and there's still footprints everywhere. Come on people, use the rakes. I was able to get the ball out because the sand is fairly new and fluffy.

Rough was fairly non-existent. Wasn't penal at all. Easy to play from.

$43 to walk on a weekend is well worth it. Always a pleasure to play Coronado, just a fun time with great views. New crew I played with was also a joy.

Walked on as a single yesterday around 11:30 and it was busy as usual, but somehow I got right out! all staff was great, starter, proshop, beverage cart 3 times. Everything in really good shape except for the greens. Very slow and bumpy from recent aeration. Hit your putt and pray type of day. Fairways were darn near perfect. Not much rough. Bunkers were fine, although people aren't raking them!!! Teeboxes were all great. Had a fun time despite the greens. $37 to walk is always worth it.

Played yesterday, Jan 24, 11:30 teetime. A friend booked online a couple of weeks ago so we paid the $18 advance teetime fee. Green fee was $42 to walk, so $60 total isn't really a good deal, but it's about the only way to get a secured tee time.

No problems with check in, staff is always nice and efficient. POP was right at 4hrs, which is awesome. Definitely seems to move faster during a weekday rather than the weekend when I usually play.

Course is in pretty darn good shape, some of the best shape I've seen it for a long time. No problems with just about every aspect of the course. Teeboxes were nice and level with very minimal divot damage. Fairways were great, never had a bad lie all day. They had good cushion with adequate rollout. Found two bunkers and they were fantastic. Great sand, fluffy with good base. Rough wasn't too penal, it was only about an inch longer than the fairways and it was on the "clumpy" side, so some areas were longer and some areas were bare/short. Greens were great. They held shots very well and rolled at a great pace. Downhillers were definitely quick!! Great time as always, highly recommend right now.

Snuck out yesterday, 12/13, for twilight 1:30pm as a single. Called over there and Mike the starter said he had an opening for a single, so I went on over. We played the front nine in 2.25hrs, but that was acceptable for this muni as it generally plays slow. I played 12 holes before darkness was really setting in and rain was imminent.

Everything is very playable right now. Nothing outstanding, but nothing deplorable. Teeboxes were all level with pretty good coverage. Normal divot damage on the par3's, but all other teeboxes had great coverage.

Fairways were good to great. Offered some good rollout and had great coverage, hardly any brown/bare spots that I could tell. I hit every fairway and never had a bad lie.

Didn't see the rough, but it looked manageable, cut down fairly short and wasn't punishing around the greens. Didn't hit any bunkers, but they looked nice and my playing partners had no problems getting out of the few they were in. One guy did have a fried egg buried lie on one of the upslopes on the greenside bunker on number 10.

Greens were good to very good! Held shots perfectly, very soft, and short irons backed up 5-10FT, which was fun. They putted smooth and good pace, fairly quick.

Customer service all great as usual. Beverage cart came around 3 times. Always recommend if you can get out here as it's nearly impossible to get a tee time.
