Played on Sunday under sunny conditions. Course is really fun and is protected by the wind. Greens were in great shape but really firm. Made a big difference coming out of the rough and hitting from the fairway. Everything in good to great shape and is worth the waits and green fees.

Decided to walk on at the last minute and put my name in at about 6:30 and teed off at 7:30 so the wait wasn't bad at all.

Decided to walk on at the last minute and put my name in at about 6:30 and teed off at 7:30 so the wait wasn't bad at all.

Greens were a little bumpy and seemed a little slower than normal to me. A few unrepaired ball marks here and there. Greens held shots well however I could not adjust to the speed. I carried chips to release and they'd check or try and get something back to the hole and it would run out. Just never got that dialed in.

Bunkers need to be raked. I was in 3 and 2 I had to move since they were in footprints. Some looked like they hadn't been touched in a few days.

Rough was non-existant. No penalty for being in there. The rough is really just navigating trees.

Fairways are ok as well. I did find a divot and I usually expect to find one when playing here given the amount of play this course gets.

Tee boxes are ok as well. Par 3 boxes are a little more beaten up and the number 9 tee box (on the right hand side) was a little unlevel.

One of the guys in our group said the greens were being punched in a couple of week but I forgot to confirm that with the course. I'd probably hold off on playing until after the maintenance but then again it's only $49 to walk so that is hard to beat.

12/26/20 Played Coronado in San Diego day after Christmas in prime conditions Sunny and warm. Coronado is one of the best courses in San Diego it still remains one of the best values anywhere. The course conditions are excellent for a municipal course that gets non-stop play. The greens were in great shape and the fairways were generally very lush. Some of the tee boxes (particularly on the par 3s) had problems (lots of divots--a bit uneven), but overall, this is a fun course with great views.

PLayed yesterday afternoon. Walked on as a single around 11:45 and was off by 12:30. POP continues to be excellent, around 4.25hrs. which is great for this place. Nothing to add to my previous reviews as far as conditions go, still the same from the last two weeks. Customer service from the starter is still fantastic!! Keep up the good work and get out there if you can, always a great day at Nado.

I was able to get out as a walk on single again on Saturday, 1/9. I showed up around 10:15am and was off by 10:50. So happy they were able to work me in. I love Dennis in the starter booth. Such a great attitude and all around good guy. Most everyone I've encountered in the starter booth is great. $43 to walk is well worth it.

Conditions were about the same as last week, although the fairways seemed a little nicer. The greens were still very difficult to read. They were playing fast and had a few bumps here and there, but they were very receptive to shots and I can't complain. I just can't putt!!

Teeboxes were level and had some divot damage, but for the most part, nothing to cry about. Sand Traps were still hit and miss. I played out of the one that I was in on number 5, but for the most part, they were still loaded with footprints. So play it GUR or whatever you'd think is fair.

Saw the beverage cart a few times and she was great. Service is always nice here. POP has been great lately. POP at 4.25hrs, which is great for this course. Usual wait for the first 5 holes and then it seems to really open up. Get on out there if you can!!!

Beautiful course however management is putting to many rounds through. That management mentality is beating the course up. Still had a great time.

It was indeed a lucky Sunday morning for me yesterday. Walked on around 9am and got out by 9:30 as a single. Joined up with three nice guys and had about as quick of a round at Coronado that I've ever had. First 5 holes were normal slow pace, but then it really opened up. Total POP was at 4hrs!! Remarkable. Covid has the restaurant and bar shut down, but snack bar is open and beverage cart out and about, no problem.

Teeboxes were just fine, no issues. All level with minimal divot damage.

Fairways were a mixed bag. Fairly good lies all day with good cushion and decent roll out, but quite a few unfilled divots, which is expected with a lot of walkers on this course and the last day of a long holiday weekend. I found two divots in the middle of fairways, oh well, no big deal, just make sure you hit down on the ball and hit it perfectly.

Sand traps were awful. Once again, a sign from the long holiday weekend with lots of traffic and no rakes. Do what you want with em, take the ball out or give yourself relief from the millions of footprints. I found two bunkers, one was unplayable and the second was playable with decent sand.

Not much rough at all, don't even worry about it. I missed two fairways and was just fine.

Greens were a little bumpy. They were fast and held shots very well, but I couldn't read them all day. 44putts to start my year, not the best way to begin 2021.

Staff was the usual great attitude. and the scenery for such a beautiful day couldn't be beat. $43 to walk on a Sunday is a great value, can't complain. Get out there if you can!!

Played Coronado GC the day after Christmas with the family. This would have been my uncle's 28 annual Day after XMAS tournament but it was canceled due to the corona. Instead we got the family together and had two groups go out around 9:30. The weather was amazing and Coronado seems to never let me down.

DETAILS: For a course that does the most rounds of golf per year in America, the course is in great shape! The greens (9/10) are always sneaky quick and in good shape. Minimal ball marks and bare spots. The tee boxes (8/10) were flat and had plenty of grass to choose from. The fairways (7/10) are in decent shape with a few unfilled divots here and there. You expect that from a course that does as much business as Coronado does. The rough (7/10) can be thick in certain areas but for the most part is very playable. The bunkers (8/10) were solid as I was in a handful of fairway and greenside beaches.

CONCLUSION: To play a course like Coronado for $60 on a holiday weekend is such a steal. I wish I could play there more often (far drive for me). You can't beat the views as well as the conditions. The golf shop always has great gear and gets some of money every time. I hit the shot of the day on 15 (par 3 toward the CYC) to about five feet and made the bird for the final KP of the round. Can't wait til the next time we're able to play that beautiful track.

Walked on yesterday. Got there at 6 and was the first one on the list. Got out a little after 7 and was in the 5th group. First tee time went off sometime between 6:30-6:45. Total pace of place was just under 4 hours so it pays to play early here.

Greens had been punched with the smaller holes. Some of the holes at the start of the round were fresher than the ones later. Greens seemed a little slower than normal but there was still quite a bit of morning dew on the greens that really slowed down the pace. The greens were also super soft. Combine these 2 and I don't think the greens were cut. The pace really impacted my chipping more than anything. I couldn't get myself to hit a chip firm enough to the hole. I kept expecting more roll out, yes I'm hard headed.

Fairways and rough are ok. There are bare areas throughout the course in both areas. Rough is pretty typical here, not penal or penalizing. Just more about navigating how to hit around/over/under trees.

I was in a couple of fairway bunkers and they were ok to hit from. I wasn't in a greenside bunker but I did notice they they hadn't been cared for in a while. No rakes but you'd think the course would rake them and I just remember most of them need some attention.

Tee boxes were a mixed bag. Some were good, some need grass, some need leveling and some need cutting.

I mean it was only $49 to walk which makes it pretty affordable and considering most courses are punching and overseeding right now. I've seen the course in better shape but its slim pickins right now. Beggars can't be choosers.
