Played yesterday, Saturday. Called at 10:20 to check how busy it was and the starter said he had an opening for 11:22, so I took it. $40 resident walking rate for a beautiful Saturday afternoon is well worth it. POP was great today, it wasn't too busy, 4.5hrs total is totally acceptable for this place, we waited just a little on about half the shots but it moved along nicely.

Teeboxes were all level, but most of them weren't mown so they were a little shaggy, but not a big deal. Fairways were in great shape, very nice perfect firmness with great coverage. Never had a bad lie all day. Found one bunker and it was nice, good sand, nice and fluffy. Rough wasn't too penal, it was only about an inch or two longer than the fairways, easy to hit from. Greens were in pretty good shape, held shots very well, but were a little bumpy. Lots of unrepaired ball marks, makes you mad after you fix 3-5 marks on every green, lazy people. Customer service was just fine, didn't see the beverage cart, but no biggie, love my Datrek bag with built in cooler that holds a 6pack ice cold for the entire round.
All and all, a great day where I live. I only play here about 3-4 times a year, cuz it's usually such a pain to get out. Hit it up if you can.

Played Friday Oct 5 as a single. Walked up to starter, was 4th on list and got out in under 20 minutes. They had a shotgun tournament so we were last group (all the singles at once)... Course conditions were nice, greens a tad on slow side from what I am use to but rolled nice. Fairways were nice, rough wasnt very penal but def took spin off the ball. Funny as I was trying to decide where to play, I read a reviewer that said "there was surprisingly a lot of sand at the top of the bunker" and it struck me as an odd comment until I missed the green right and just about lost my ball because the sand at the top is deep and light... The ultimate plug.

Got here a little before 6 to put my name on the list and got in the 3rd group out at 6:40ish. Pace wasn’t an issue as we cruised to 3:30 finish. Overall conditions are pretty impressive. Greens are in great shape. Not too many ball marks, old and new. I do remember it looked like a little fungus spot on the front of 4 and a handful of dead areas. Bu considering the amount of play this course gets I really like the overall aesthetic of the greens. They also rolled at a decent pace too.

Fairways are in good shape too. Again there are some dead spots but it’s really good to hit from. Sat up nicely on the fairway.

Rough is the same. Not penalizing but those trees do come into play.

I was in the green side bunker on 10 and plugged in the face and there was no way for me to get out. I was surprised there was that much sand especially that high up. Others looked consistent. Fairway bunkers looked a little firmer thou.

Considering most courses are undergoing maintenance this course is certainly worth a look and for $37 to walk certainly fits into anyone budget.

Got here on Friday morning about 5:45 and was about 8th in line. First tee time is 6 and i teed off at 6:30 so not that bad of a wait. Finished in about 4 hours.

There were some greens on the front that look to have a fungus on them. Greens on the back are much better and roll pretty well. Not super fast but decent. Not too many ball marks that early which is nice considering how much play it gets.

Fairways are pretty good. I was hitting a lot of wayward drives so I didn’t get to hit from here as much as I like. Maybe a few more divots than most other places. A few dead areas but not too bad.

Rough is not penalizing but these trees seem to get in the way. It’s like once you get in there it’s a _____ to get out of. I’ve also noticed some trees are gone. I was told some of the eucalyptus were blown over during some high winds we had.

Sand was really good. Was in a couple greenside and really able to take nice full swings to get that ball popping out and landing soft.

Smock was running the starter booth for a bit, hopefully he does well next week at the pga. Since he’s taken over I have thought the service is vastly improved. Before it didn’t seem like the people were grumpy or flat out didn’t care. Now everyone seems happier. Even now that the rate is $37 I still think it’s a good value. Cooler temps and a little breeze at this time of year feels nice than sweating it out at most other courses.

Called and got a 1pm time and headed down there and got there about 12 and was able to get out in 20 minutes. It seemed like a slow pace but we finished in 4 hours 15 minutes which for a Friday is great. There was a group 3 or 4 ahead that was slow but the marshal was on them and they didn’t close the gap but they did narrow it. It was also super windy today. Mostly 2 clubs most of the day.

The practice green still shows signs of punching but the greens on the course did not. Greens while they don’t look good they actually rolled really well and quicker than they looked.

Fairways were good. Good roll out and nice lies. Don’t remember and really bad spots but there were probably a couple.

Rough is down as it usually is. I never factored the rough into my club selection. However if you Get in the trees that align these fairways it’s like playing pinball. There is not even a lot of trees but somehow balls just seem to be attracted to them.

Tee boxes can be uneven at times and since this is a shorter course you do get some par 4s with divot damage.

Was in 2 bunkers and while they look crusty and hard they aren’t as bad as they look.

Customer service was great as I mentioned the starter and marshal. Cart girl came around a few times too. For $37 it’s a great value if you can time the crowd.

Played on Sunday, 2/25/18. Walked on as a single and to my surprise I got right out, 11:15am. Well done, Ken the starter is always a big help and a pleasure. POP was the usual 5 hours, always a struggle with all the play this course gets. Resident walk rate $40, can't complain. Beautiful views and a great walk.

Course is in pretty good shape overall. Teeboxes were nice, pretty level and not much divot damage. Nice and green. Fairways were really nice, never had a bad lie. Great coverage and had some roll to them. Bunkers were just fine, I found one and had no issues. Rough wasn't too long or penal. The greens putted pretty good, nice roll with no bumps. However, they seemed harder than normal and wouldn't hold shots very well, about half club of roll, I just planned on the rollout after a few holes and it worked out ok. They were extremely fast downhill and some of the cups were cut in diabolical locations, crazy big breakers and lightning speed sometimes.

All together, another great day. Sundays seem to be ok to walk out there if there's not tournament or special event.

Had to drop a coworker off at the airport yesterday and decided to try and get on. I called the starter and asked about the wait list, his response was "what wait list". I couldn't believe my ears and rushed over. I got there and a 2some just teed off and there wasn't anyone else scheduled to go for another 20 minutes. I teed off ny myself and crushed the first 7 holes in about an hour then everything came to a grinding halt from 8 on. Joined up with the 2some in front of me and we finished at 4:30 but played much slower. Pretty strong wind out there, probably 2 club difference.

Greens the best part of the course. Much faster than I thought, rolled my first couple well by. Generally good but this course gets a ton of play and so there are ball marks but honestly not as many as I anticipated.

Fairways are decent. A couple of areas are dried out but not what I consider in play. It does seem like with the maintenance they have focused the water on the greens and fairways.

Rough is well rough. Never thick to begin with and has dried out a bit and there are some dirt areas if you stray off the beaten path. However the rough on the right side of 12 is incredibly long. I'm not even sure you'd want to play it if you did find it.

Sand looks horrible but plays much better than it looks unless of course you find a footprint like I did.

On of the better value courses in the area but just be prepared for some slow rounds.

Played on Sunday, 8/27, I went by the course on Saturday and walked up to the starter and was able to get a 2:22 teetime for Sunday, lucky, I guess. They had a small shotgun in front of us that cleared out so POP was an amazing 4hrs, just great!

Course is in great shape overall. Fairways were near perfect and had some roll. Teeboxes were just fine, a little chewed up on the par 3s, but they were level as usual and always found a good place to put the peg. Greens were receptive and pretty smooth for the most part, they were a little bumpy around the cup after everyone trampled on the greens for the day, but that's to be expected late in the day, we didn't make any putts, at all, but I blame us for that. Found two traps and they were in good shape. Rough wasn't too penal, it was only a couple inches high and it was in good shape, so your ball sat on top for the most part.

Great day on a great course, always enjoy myself out there. Starters are always great, Ken was out there yesterday. Pro shop guys are great, too.

Finally played this course after wanting to for the last 25 years. The pace of play was at about 4.5 hours which was expected. The tee boxes were all level with good coverage and in great shape. The fairways were also in very good shape with most being covered with kikuyu - always popular near the coast. The fairways were cut short but the ball sat up well enough for good contact. The rough was slightly longer and thicker but one could still make a good stroke if you had to hit from it. The traps were well groomed, slightly damp with fluffy sand and very playable. The greens were very firm and not holding all shots into them - most shots would bounce and roll unless the approach shots came in from a high angle. It took us a hole or two before we started playing the roll on them. The greens were fairly quick and very large (some of the largest I've played in a while). Most all of the greens were tilted toward the fairway which made getting a shot to the back difficult. I found with the overcast skies and cool breeze that an extra club or two was needed on most holes. The staff was excellent and it was nice to see the marshal out on the course a few times. The sun finally arrived on the last hole and made for some great photos. I think the green fees are reasonable for what the course offers and would definitely recommend a round here!
