Played the whites with a family member 1/12/21. Had to hold back on the driver on many holes. Greens were rolling 12+. Many putts rolled off green. Tee boxes great condition. Fairways green and firm. Good rollout on tee shots sometimes so much should have clubbed down a little. Love the range and putting green close to tee boxes. Maderas a great course in SD. Play earlier in week for cheaper rates.

Course is great shape. Always beautiful. Amenities should have reopened months ago. Take out at the very least should be available. Course conditions spectacular.

first round of 2021 at maderas. trying to get back into it after taking it easy due to some epicondylitis in right elbow. pro shop is closed, and on check in they charge a $5 covid sanitation fee. seems kind of nickel and dimey to me, for a high end club like this, just include it in your greens fees. that was the last negative though, as the course is in great condition. very nice range with included range balls and starter was friendly. front 9 was wide open, didn't run into anyone until green on 8. had to wait a bit on the back but still finished in 3.5H. fairways are deep green and firm so lots of roll out on tee shots especially if you hit certain slopes. very nice dormant rough so you get the beautiful brown/green contrast. tee boxes were all level and flat. fringes were tight and greens rolled smooth. they were firm and approaches were difficult to hold. greens are the biggest challenge here for me, always large with multiple undulations and tiers, making 2 putts and up and downs challenging. bunkers were filled with nice soft sand and actually had rakes! i haven't seen a rake in months. carts have nice gps and plush seats. always a pleasure to play here, wish it was closer to me.

Played 10/21 morning at the Troon rate of $125 a player. the Club also charged us some COVID-19 fees. Starter had us start on the back 9 to help with pace of play. Great decision as we finished a little under 4 hours. Course was in pristine condition.

Would play again for sure.

Played 10/11 with Joel, Dan and Dave. Had booked a time through Maderas website for 2:20, but proshop didn't have us listed. No problem, time was still there and rate. There was a "Poway City water tax" and "Covid fee" of about $10. Hmmm? They got us off at 1:40 and good thing. We finished about ten minutes before DARK. 4 hour 20 minute round. The range was off mats as they had just reseeded and wanted the grass to set. Short game area was not quite as nice as in the past but still outstanding. The course was as good as I've seen it from tee boxes to greens. Rakes in sand traps with beautiful sand. Greens, as usual, were on the slower side but rolled true. $90 late rate on Sunday was very fair.

Greens are still recovering from aeration. Several tee boxes are closed for what appears to be overseeding (so blue tees were either playing way up or way back). Rest of the course is in good shape.

Played 9/9, course was pretty wide open. Teed off in afternoon and finished in 3 hours 45 minutes. Greens were firm but still soft enough to have some check to them. The whole course was in great shape. Lush and green throughout the course with very few divots, very few ball marks. Rough was fair in length, not too long but still made it known that you missed the fairway. The course played very tough, probably toughest pin placements allowable for a lot of the holes. We played the Maderas tees which should be a Black/Blue combo but ended up being primarily Black tees so made for a long challenging day, but was still a great time.

Course is in great shape. Greens are firm, but still soft enough to hold well-struck shots. They have a new guy in the pro shop (and who occasionally serves as the starter) who always seems bent out of shape, but the course is so much fun and is reliably in good-to-great condition, that it's easy to overlook the one bad apple in the bunch.

Finally a first time was had by me with some friends local to SD and out of states and it was a great one I might add. The day’s climate was on a cooler side (low to mid 60s) with some light breezes but had gusted up to 12-18 mph at times but for the front nine it was 6-9 mph.

DST 12:10 was our group’s time following one ahead of us and three other groups trailing us. Our group finished at 4:38.

Not much rain fall came the nigh before from the forecast and it left the course nice and dry with its Bermuda grass covered fairways that is in very good shape, but without any roughs on the course, it played tough on some holes. There were some sand filled divots along some landing areas of the fairways on short par fours which is inevitable to place for position, but luckily none in our group got in it.

The bunkers’ sand looks good though i never had the chance to test it.

The teeing grounds from the Maderas tees were lush and level.

The greens were wonderful even though some old but fixed marks were visible. It was smooth and medium fast. Many greens were very undulated but fair.

The beverage cart came around three times- thumbs up- and all their staff from restaurant to pro shop were all helpful.

All in all the course is in tip top shape. We all want to come back again. Love this course!
