Played here 9/1 with fellow GK member jpeairs85 on a good GN deal with a 1:10pm tee time. I hadn't been out here since the last GK Plays here and reading the reviews, it was good to see they were still applicable. For a course where you would absolutely understand the summer taking its toll, there were green fairways, smooth greens, and a wonderful experience overall.

Tee-boxes: Okay condition, though I distinctly remember a handful of holes where the turf was chewed up. This may be because everyone plays the blues here to maximize the short yardage, however even the worst conditioned boxes still had enough area to tee it up.

Fairways: Great condition. I loved the green color, the condition of the grass resulted in great lies, and the run was more than fair on a course where most people keep the driver in the bag. A fair amount of divots but it was busy and teeing off in the afternoon always results in more divots.

Rough: Where it existed, it was thick. Of course the canyons and natural contour of the course is the real "rough" here, however I saw at least three shots that landed in the thick stuff and absolutely disappeared, so it does exist and it can be penal.

Bunkers: Varied from great to mediocre, just depended on the hole and type of bunker. A few greenside bunkers (namely hole 8) had Augusta-type sand; others (like hole 2) had coarse beach sand. No footprints thankfully, but wish there was more consistency with sand.

Greens: Great condition. They rolled quick and smooth, visually a pleasure to putt on and only a few greens had burned out spots on them that did NOT affect play. Well done Mt. Woodson!

ETC: Staff was very friendly and allowed us to tee off early (in spite of 1pm marking the start of twilight rates). Grill offered good and moderately priced food. Pace of play was just a shade over 4 hours, which was excellent. Course layout is insanely fun; don't let the short yardage fool you. Carts could stand to be upgraded next, but everything here is done well and I will surely be back soon.

Played in the Thursday night twilight shotgun. Next Thursday 8/23/18 is the last evening. Course is really in fantastic shape for summer. Fairway's are mostly in great shape. Greens can get a little bumpy in the afternoon, but are soft with good pace. My favorite twilight course in SD by far.

Played today, 7-29-18, Thank you, rudyclub for joining me. I wanted a course that plays short due to the current condition of my game, but not just a par 3 or executive course. We had a 9am tee time and check-in was fast and friendly as usual. I was really surprised at how good the course conditions were. Honestly, I was expecting summertime brown and dry, but everything was green and lush. The fairways were very cushy and easy to hit from. I was in two bunkers and both were clean and soft. The greens were in great shape- smooth and fast. They were somewhat soft, so the few ball marks we found were deep but repaired cleanly. Mt. Woodson is so much fun with all the elevation changes, bunkers hidden everywhere, beautiful scenery and of course, that bridge!! POP was 4 hours. Looking forward to next time.

Played in the Thursday night twilight event. 7/12/18 Course is in really good shape. There are a few brown/dry areas in the fairway's. Mostly along the edges, but mostly in very good shape. Greens were great. Very receptive and were running at a good speed with only some minor bumps. Big thumbs up !

Started work early and left early so I had some time to sneak in a round later in the evening. Looked at the tee sheet online and it was totally open so I had to get out and play. Interesting thing to note is that this course is pushing a "pay-per-hole" app. I didnt look into it too much but will research more later.

Tee-Time: 4:30pm
POP: 3:15 (1:15 front 9, 2:00 back 9)

Greens:
The greens were on the softer side and approach shots left very large ball marks. With the soft greens and playing so late in the day, the greens rolled really bumpy. More than average amount of unrepaired marks left behind on the green. Greens rolled much faster than I anticipated given the firmness.


Fairways:
Great coverage on the fairways especially for this time of year. Some of the edges of the fairways were yellowing but who cares...the landing zones and approach areas were firm but allowed for nice divots.

Bunkers:
The bunkers were all over the place. Fairway bunkers seemed crispy with some small pebbles. Greenside bunkers varied from fine white sand to clumpy dark sand...just really depended on which hole you were on.

Rough:
There really isnt too much rough on this course and where it existed I did not notice it on this time around as a lot of tee shots were hit with irons or hybrids. The course is fairly short and very tight so balls that miss the fairway tend to get lost in the woods. There were a few fairways that I missed here I ended up in a dirt area with clumpy grass so if that is the rough, it was in bad shape.

Overall:
I love this course. It is a fun target golf course with amazing views. Most holes are secluded from others so it feels like you are on an adventure as you traverse the hills in your cart. There is also a super long wooden bridge that snakes across a canyon which makes for a really fun journey.

Not much has change from Tim's last review. Fairways were very nice blend of dormant and lush grass every ball sat up nicely. Greens were a little slow for my liking and soft. Tee's and rough good not great. Sand was mostly bad. I know they are working on adding sand to all bunkers but I found every bunker that didn't have sand.

In all great course for a great price and well worth the drive.

Greens in great shape. The poana was blooming a little which caused an occasional wobble, but over all in really good shape. Course is in really good shape over all. Get out there !

The bermuda fairway's have grown in and greened up. Mostly complete coverage and played great. Good roll and decent cushion under ball.
Greens were great. Rolled mostly true and had good pace to them at medium fast. Held shots well.
They have been replacing sand in some traps. The new sand ones are very good. The older are hard pan.
Typical Mt. Woodson T boxes. Some good some bad.
Over all in very good shape and definitely recommend to all Woodson fans.
