Out super early on a cold (44 degrees) in the dark at 6am. Very busy, with quite a few people preparing to tee off in those conditions. Pro shop staff was great as always.

Course conditions are pretty good right now. Greens rolled well and had decent pace. Held shots well which was nice. Most of the fairways had good coverage, with a few areas which need attention, but for the most part, very playable. I was in four green side bunkers, and the sand in the first three was great, the last (#18) was compacted and wet.

Just a fun track to play, which provides enough challenge to keep your interest, without being too penal. There are a number of holes which can cause you grief, but overall if you're careful, you can play a fairly stress free round.

Played Sat, Nov 20, 7:20am. Found a last minute single open on their website Friday afternoon so I booked it. $40 to walk, very fair for non-Oceanside resident. Played with the Baker family, dad and his two grown sons. Great guys.

Excellent POP at 4hrs!! usually POP is somewhat of a concern here, but not this past Saturday morning.

Blue teeboxes were in OK/fair shape. Pretty chewed up and not super level. Had to take a minute or so to find a good spot, but some spots were available, not a deal breaker by any means. They punched them a little while ago and it still shows.

Found one greenside bunker and it was just fine. Good amount of sand, no complaints.

Fairways were fair to good for the most part. Didn't have any bad lies, but they weren't perfect by any means. Good cushion and roll out was just fine. No huge complaints.

Not much rough to consider, it's cut down pretty short and if you miss the fairway by more than 10yds, you're in the decomposed granite/dirt.

Greens were absolutely the best part of the course. They were darn near perfect. Held shots very well. Putted very smooth and fast. About the best that I've ever seen the greens.

Check in was easy, paid online so told the pro shop I was there and off I went. Beverage cart was around 3 times, great $6 deal for 24oz can of Pacifico/Corona/Modelo!!! This is what courses should do more often, don't gouge people for beers, please. Have something on special, for crying out loud.

I generally always recommend this course. Fun layout, fair price and generally acceptable conditions. With the greens they are right now, definitely get out there.

First out at 6am with flashlights. I thought that with the course punching greens tomorrow, it might be crowded, but not the case, (But there were a few guys with glow balls who wanted to hit it so off we went in the dark )

The greens are really good and are pretty quick. Still receptive however. Most of the fairways are OK, but there were a few which really need attention. (#6 ) Bunkers were inconsistent - some good, some soaked and unmaintained. Several tee boxes could use new sod.

Staff (Sam) is always great and a joy to deal woith. Always enjoy my visits here. Fun course with enough challenge to keep your interest, but not so penal to cause great stress. The only holes I really don't care for are #15 & #16, but that's only because I no longer pocess the length to play the holes properly. Plus they are just long, straight, flat, uninteresting holes.. Otherwise I think this course has many fun and interesting holes

In short, Above average muni conditions, greens were in good shape!

Greens: Lush, medium-slower speed but smooth. Soft too, everything was biting hard.

Fairways/Rough: Typical muni, maybe above average here, fairly lush but with a few barespots here n' there.

Bunkers: Didn't hit any of them, but seemed like they were in good/okay shape.

Teeboxes: Most tee boxes were in need of some leveling and had me looking for a good level spot. Some Par 3 tee boxes had some severe divots.

POP: 4.5 hours.

My one complaint was from concessions standpoint. For a busy Friday, the halfway house / restaurant was shutdown early as we made the turn, even the pro shop didn't understand why they were closed already (I think it was 4:30pm). And the beverage cart last call was at 3pm. Not sure if they were just looking to get out early on a Friday or what.

Other than that it was a great time and look forward to playing there again.

Always a few areas which need attention, but so so much better than a month or so ago. Greens were excellent ! Ball rolled true and reasonably quick. Also accepted shots very well. Rough was OK, not great, but decent. Bunkers were good, except I do not understand why there still are no rakes available ?

Staff is ALWAYS great here. One of the reasons i frequent this course as often as I do. Congrats to the maintenance staff for the vast improvement in course conditions.

Gosh, I hate leaving a review like this as I love this course and I play here a few times a year for the past 30+yrs. But, conditions are definitely lacking right now. Only saving grace was the greens. Twilight rate for Saturday at 3pm was $25 to walk and POP was 4.75hrs, waited every tee box for at least 10mins. Then, after that, the hole itself, after we teed off, played normal time, bizarre.

Teeboxes, unlevel, chewed up. Made you analyze for at least one minute to get a good spot. Eventually, found a decent spot to tee it up, although sometimes I opted for level lie with good stance and grass, rather than the ideal tee position. Pretty frustrating, actually. Especially on this course, where tee shot position is key with all the doglegs and often times hitting less than driver.

Fairways were pretty awful. Tons of GUR, so at least they are aware. I always play the ball down, so I dealt with a lot of poor lies in the fairways. Once again, frustrating.

Sand traps were a joke!!! No rakes, crusty, hard pan underneath, footprints, you name it. Stay out of them at all costs. Probably should've played them GUR right now, but once again, I post, so I pretty much took my adjusted double bogey on the two holes I found the greenside bunker.

Rough was a mixed bag, some spots it was short with a lot of clover/weeds easy to play and some other spots it was diabolical, Torrey US Open style.

Greens were literally the only reason why I didn't quit at the turn. They held full shots amazingly well and putted very smooth. Fairly quick, too, especially down hill.

Hope they turn things around at this muni. Right now, I'd probably stay away for a little while.

They rolled true and had decent speed. Fairways, while spotty had good coverage and were quite green. There was lots of sand in the bunkers, but none were raked yet, but they showed the potential to be really good. Rough was inconsistent.

I can never say enough good things about Sam in the pro shop. He is the best ! One of the reasons I play here frequently. Always enjoy playing here. The only annoying thing is the back nine play, which I seem to encounter almost every time.

Bunkers are generally OK, with a few exceptions. Fairways are hit/miss. Since I play here on a semi regular basis, I kind of know what to expect, so rarely walk away disappointed.

Pro shop staff is great and is one of the reasons I play here as often as I do, as they are super friendly and accommodating.

I always check weather prior to playing in the early morning. Last week I drove to GC of California and despite a forecast of 51 degrees at 6am, it was 33 degrees with frost, so decided not to play. Checked Oceanside for Monday and it was supposed to be 40 + or - , but pulled into the lot and it was 35 degrees. Knowing that Oceanside rarely if ever call frost delays, decided to go for it. Now I have played many many times in temperatures at/near those temps, but I have NEVER played in conditions like this morning. They must have watered the fairways or something, because it was solid ice. I mean that you could actually slide on the fairways. Crazy !

I checked with the super and he said that the greens were OK, so no problem playing. He was correct, as the greens were nice, in fact rolled very well, except for #5, which apparently they had tried to water and it was covered in part with ice. These conditions remained like this for the entire front nine. Almost impossible to play because many areas where you could not swing without slipping. Greens side bunkers were excellent, some of the better I've played in. Tee boxes with pretty beat up.

Even with this ridiculous conditions, it was rather busy in the morning. Sam in the pro shop is great and a major reason I play here so frequently. Never a problem getting out. I enjoy this track, but today's conditions made for a rather challenging experience.
