Played here 1-18-12 and as usual this course is in great shape. We played immediately following a tournament so there were some ball marks on the greens but we fixed them as we played through, but as usual the course and the greens were in great shape. It is always a pleasure to play here. We don't play here alot simply because it is less expensive to play some of the other courses around, but if you want to know you're going to have good conditions this is the place to book. It's been that way for 10 years.

Played Sat 1-21-2012 in the pouring rain. It rained from 7:00 a.m until noon. Non stop. This course drains really well. Only one hole had standing water on the fairway. The greens were still medium/fast. very nice staff. The layout is very fair. The views are great. worth the green fees.

Played at Pala Mesa this morning. This was actually the first time I've played this course. Somehow, it's been able to elude me all these years. I had a 7:03 tee time as a single (GolfNow), but got there early and there was hardly anybody there. Ended up being the first off the tee and played by myself. Round only took 2 hours, so that was a pleasant surprise (though I did have to wait for the greenskeeper to move a few holes on the front).

Overall, I enjoyed this course. Fun, challenging layout. Though not too lengthy, it was tough for me as many tee shots were not ideal for a big fade player like myself. The greens were in exceptional condition—absolutely perfect. Sand was nice and fluffy. From tee to green, though, it was pretty beat up. Fairways were pretty patchy color-wise, but played fine. Fairways are very narrow, so I didn't hit too many today anyway. Rough was pretty patchy, ugly and inconsistent.

Fun little course with some unique and memorable holes.

Played here on Thursday for the first time in over a year. Course was in good condition especially the greens. They were smooth and "holding" most shots. The speed was not the normal lighting fast that I remembered which made the round much more enjoyable. A lot of the trees of the fairways have been removed which really opened up the course. Local knowledge is a must!

Pros = course is in good shape. Greens are feww of ball marks and aeration signs. Although they are on the slow side currently. Rough is decent. Scenery in nice change from most San Diego courses as there are lost of trees.
CONS CONS CONS... many tee boxes offer less than optimal positioning ie...they are uneven not level. Some of them are really bad but not most. Course was really moist for some reason. Personal gripe... As a single I was paired with another single which is to be expected and we played behind a threesome of older ladies (they were not hacks) of course we waited a bunch but that was only due to us being 2...HOWEVER at the turn, they dropped a husband and wife in between us. WTHeck? We waited on the 10th tee for 20 minutes. I don't understand why they would do something like that? If the course is too booked to send someone out on 1st tee, don't send them at all. Our round pushed almost 6 hours and only sped up because the couple infront of us decided to turn around.

Played Pala Mesa last week. I've always really like this course. The layout is fun and there are some really good golf holes that will challenge anyone. The course conditions were very good and the green rolled nicely. I've seen the greens roll much faster but they were in good condition. This is a course that is definately worth a visit. If you are from out of town they also offer a nice "stay and play" package. Hope this helps you out!

course was in decent shape but relatively bland. there was no 'exciting' hole. did not see a bev cart during our play. some holes were relatively close to roads and highway.

Played early afternoon on December 27th, course was very busy and played slow. From the first tee all the way through the round, we waited before just about every shot. We finished 9 holes in just under 3 hours and called it a day. The course was still wet from the rain the previous week and there were a few areas under maintenance.
