Played in SCGA Gross/net Tournament on Monday the 22nd at Pala Mesa. Course still needs time to heal. Tee boxes were not cut grass still trying to grow. Greens a bit bumpy in some spots but puttable. Fairways need time to dry, many wetspots and places that should of been marked as "GUR". I was not a happy camper.

Played here Monday and Tuesday. This course tends to be tight and has some extensive elevation changes. But it is a resort course so it is not killer tough. Overall the course is in fine condition. The greens are very receptive. They are not too fast however. They are for the most part smooth, but because they are so soft, ball marks, even repaired ones, can be a problem. The other issues are worm holes and the dirt they leave and the crows digging up the green, going after the worms. Not a huge problem but noticeable. The fairways had a few scruffy spots, but again, for the most part fine. Tee boxes were fine too. The bunkers were excellent, plenty of nice firm sand. 6 of us go down to Pala Mesa twice a year. We pay about $180 for 2 rounds of golf and one night's lodging. The rooms are nice, the restaurant is very good and the staff is terrific. And if you are so inclined there is a casino nearby. It is great buddy golf destination.

Played here for the first time in about a year. Course is not in the best of shape, or at least not in as good as conditon. Greens have tons of sand drops (I believe pushed up by worms). A few of the greens were in great shape - then a few had bare and/or diseased spots. They held well and putted ok - just not what I would expect from a resort course. Staff always friendly here. No course supervision or cart service. Had a very slow twosome cut in ahead of our foursome at the turn - waited every hole for them, while being hit into by a group of Asians. Course Really NEEDS to have a starter or marshall.

Course #1 of SD golf vacation. Place is tucked away against the hills, kind of reminds me of Simi Hills GC the way it is set up. Lots of elevation changes, especially on the back nine. Fairways definitely aren't perfect, but are far from bad-only a few bare spots/hardpan here and there. Rough was weird. It seemed like every hole there were two different kinds-either lush, thick and tall or short and a little dry. Greens had minimal divot marks, and the two bunkers I was in had very good sand, especially the 16th hole. Would definitely play here again considering the price, too bad a lot of stuff was tented since they were fumigating though :/

Just finished an annual trip to Pala Mesa with a group of 12. The stay and play package here is great and well worth the money. The condition of the course was very good. Greens were great (smooth and soft) along with the fairways. The only part of the course that needed some work were the tee boxes. Especially on the par 3's, the tee boxes had some divot damage and were uneven. Overall, the course was great and play was fantastic.

We played as a twosome on Sunday, 6/8. Got a $50 deal on Golfnow.com, which was pretty good considering we were playing on a weekend at 9 am. The course was really slow that day and we played in a little under 4 hours (there were a couple foursomes in front of us but they obviously moved quickly).

I really enjoy this course. It is by no stretch a long golf course, but it is relatively tight and puts a premium on hitting the greens in the correct place or leaving yourself with some very difficult putts. The overall condition of the course was above average, as the fairways were a little patchy and the tees weren't always the most level. But I never had a bad lie all day and the greens at Pala Mesa are IMPECCABLE right now. They run perfectly true, good speed and held beautifully. The bunkers were in fantastic shape and both the range and putting green give you a great place to practice.

I highly recommend Pala Mesa to those who want a course that won't overpower you but will definitely challenge handicappers of all levels. Another big plus is that the snack bar has beer on tap from a local microbrewery which makes for an enjoyable afternoon :)

First time playing here early Monday, Course is in good shape. Fairways are good, rough was a bit patchy and not very penalizing. Greens were fast and rolling very smooth, definitely the best part about the course. Wasn't the most interesting layout and if i'm in the Fallbrook area I would rather play golf club of california.
