Second group off this morning and took us about 4 1/2 to play. We would have gone faster but this rough is getting pretty thick and becoming difficult to find balls. Everyone spent some time searching for theirs at some point during the round. Luckily we didn't lose any but came close. The fairways are in great shape, not compliant there. The greens a pretty slow though. They need to be rolled and cut and then I think they'll be pretty good. Only one green that I can remember was not in good shape (#18). Was in a couple of bunkers and the sand was good too. Overall the course is shaping up nicely. Not worth the non-resident rate right now but it's getting there.

Pros- Torrey Pines South from the tips is a beast of a course. The layout has history and the shots, sights, and sounds around the course feel amazing. Our tee time was perfect as we got our bags in the line early and received course knowledge from the locals waiting in the dark. The burger at the lodge was fantastic, as was the breakfast sandwich. Views are great. Layout is amazing
Cons-The conditions, were, borderline pathetic. This course had terribly burned out rough and horrible divots on every green. No pride by players here. I must have fixed 20 divots per green. The fairways were marginal and burned up in some places. I am glad that I played it to cross it off the list, but the price tag is laughable.
Overall, hard to ever justify a 2 hour drive to a course that is gonna cost 200 dollars to play in this shape. Glad it is crossed off my list, but really don't see a reason to go back and play.

Out this morning, had an 8 AM time but able to get out earlier. There was no one here. Teed off as a 3some and there wasn't even a group ahead of us. We caught some groups at about the 7th hole. There was a 2some behind us and a 3some behind them so it definitely wasn't packed. Kind of surprising since it was hard to get a time all week and I thought people would want to get their round in before the Chargers game. We finished in less than 4 hours which I think is a first I have experienced here. I think the heatwave this week certainly took its toll on the course. The rough is really down from the norm and actually pretty easy to hit out of. Greens are pretty firm and fast. There were several balls that hit in the front of the green and rolled to the back. I really liked the greens, they had great pace. You could tell some greens had some fungus on them but despite this I think they rolled pretty great. Fairways were pretty good too. There are some dry spots out there but nothing that I would say that really impacts play too much. Sand was really great, found myself in quite a few and thought these were great quality sand. For a resident I don't mind the fee but if I were a non-resident it might not be the conditions I would want to pay the $200+ for.

The rough is still tough, but the fairways, greens and bunkers are really good right now. I was previously critical of the greens conditioning, but they're really good again. And the bunkers are tournament class.

Again I was looking forward to playing Torrey South, only to be disappointed. The fairways are still great, but the greens are not up to par for a Torrey Pines course. Apparently they are treating the greens and they are soft, slow, bumpy and inconsistent. Not fun.

Many of the bunkers were wet and tough to get out of. And the rough was long, thick and sticky. Very tough to get any distance out of.

Maybe due to the greens, the pace of play was very slow, taking five hours to play.

Torrey North is your best bet right now.

Played 8/14 mid day. Great way to beat the heat. 75 degree temps all day.

Greens seem to have quite a few divots on them lately... Fairways were good as usual. Rough was hairy and sticky.

Started at 1:00 and finished around 530.

Course has seen better conditions but overall a great day out.

Played in the mens club tournament today and everything is a little better than the last review I had. Greens are a little quicker and rough is a little thicker. Fairways were great of course. Tee boxes were good (except for the 3rd a par 3 which was beat up). Pace was about 4 hours 45 minutes, not too bad.

Played day after ATG. Similar comments. However pace was a little quicker for me since I teed off earlier. Finished a little over 4 1/2 hours. I think everything is in great shape. I however would like to have seen the greens a little faster. They were pretty soft probably because the marina layer stuck around all round. Found 2 bunkers and the sand was wet but very playable, no problems with the sand if you get in there. Fairways were great. Rough is thicking up, if you're lucky the ball will sit up but the ball could just as easily nestle down and bury a little. Juniors here the next couple of days and City Am is at the end of the month so these are some of the better conditions we'll get here.

1) PLEASE use the "BROWN" colored 4 feet tall stakes which indicate where carts are ALLOWED to ENTER and EXIT the fairways...

2) Drive the motorized carts in the FAIRWAY...STAY out of the rough with the motorized carts, walk to your golf ball then back to the cart.

3) DO NOT STOP motorized CARTS in the ROUGH, proceed either to the fairway or back to the cart paths.
