Teed off just before 9 and finished in a little over 4 1/2 hours although the pace really didn't seem to be that slow. Overall I thought the tee boxes needed a little mowing. The greens were a tad bumpy and I thought they were a little slow as well but that could have been my bad putting because I came up short a lot. The fairways were in great shape. The rough is a little down and not as penalizing as other times but the ball could still sit down in it. Found the sand a couple of times and had a wet lie in one and the others were that hard sand from the bunkers not being touched in a couple of days. Cart girl was around quite a bit.

Let me start by saying they have GREAT views!
I have played allot of golf courses that cost 200.00 Plus that are worth every penny!! The course is not worth what they charge nonresidents! it is not worth the resident rate!!! the driving range is the worst I have ever seen! The greens were just okay, the rough is thick and thin all over, not consistent at all! fairways were okay! Customer service was good and the cart girls were great! Would I ever go back not if it was FREE!!! I would rather play Goose Creek!!!

Wow, I finally got to play Torrey Pines GC and I was not let down! I played Journey and Torrey in the same week, I must be in heaven!

Wow, I finally got to play Torrey Pines GC and I was not let down! I played Journey and Torrey in the same week, I must be in heaven!
It's hard to beat a track with an ocean next to it, stunning location and conditions. In the past I walked the course a few times to watch PGA Tournaments, but the big galleries kept me from enjoying the GC until I finally played it. Played from the regular tees and scored fairly well for a high handicaper! I like unique tracks and I highly recommend Torrey...

Played Torrey Pines South course yesterday. I LOVE this course. I don't know why some people give this course a poor review. I do understand it's a lot of money if you aren't a resident but there are not that many courses the public can play that host a PGA tournament every year and also has hosted a US Open. The course was in great shape! The greens are perfect and hold the ball very well. The sand traps were perfect and the rough was difficult. The course in in outstanding shape right now. I just hope I can get out there again before the punch the greens the first part of march.

Played twice this past weekend and the course is in excellent conditions prior to the tournament. Man that rough was punishing. It is thick, I lost a couple of balls in there and I wasn't that far off the fairway. Fairways were great as were the greens. Sand was nice and fluffy. The course is only open until Monday so if you can get out there and looking for a nice humbling experience go ahead.

Torrey pines rough redefined rough for me. Previously, rough means, not a perfect lie on the fairway. Torrey rough means probably a 80 percent chance you'll lose your ball. It's especially difficult because you don't have tv crew, caddies, or spectators helping you find your ball. Of course, it's only like this for the farmers open in a few weeks.

Is it worth it though? Hell yes for the 61 bucks resident rate. Ocean views on almost every hole and nearly perfect greens. Even for 200 bucks, I will say it's worth it once. You can finally relate to how why you have a day job and the pros are pros.

Weird day. Teed off with sunny skies but then that marina layer came in on the 3rd hole and caused havoc. You couldn't see more than 100 yds in front of you. It did eventually burn back off but what a trip. I was a little disappointed with the greens. They were very bumpy. I also expected them to be a bit faster since the tournament is at the end of January. But I guess maybe they are letting them grow and cut them later. The rough was pretty thick. You really had to keep an eye on your ball. There were times when we had all four people in our group looking for a ball. But there are times when you get a favorable lie in the rough so it's hit or miss there. Fairways were in great shape as was the sand. Unusual wind today, almost Santa Ana'ish because it didn't seem to come in off the ocean. Made the holes play a tad different that the usual. I'm not sure the conditions warrant the non-resident rate right now.

I've played here probably 1/2 dozen times the past month. Course is in great shape. Played right after they had the qualifying for the Farmers Insurance and they had the tees back and the pins in some very difficult spots. Greens are rolling very well. Fairways are great, there are a few brown spots out there but hopefully the rain this past weekend helped. Rough is starting to grow and there were several times when I just hit the ball back into the fairway. Sand was good. Really can't think of a bad thing to say about this course right now. Didn't play this past weekend so I don't know how the rain impacted the course.
