Played Rancho Bernardo Inn on Feb 3, 2021 and was very pleased. The course in in immaculate shape and condition. Some challenging holes. A lot of houses surround the course making challenging for a inexperienced golfer. For the rate of $61 which is very fair and for the condition of the course well worth it. Pace of play was perfect as we did not wait on any tee box. Would love to play here again. After paying $125 and black Gold in Yorba Linda I wasted my money, RBI is a much better course.

Found the right course after mistakenly stumbling into Rancho Bernard CC next door. Not the greatest range or practice area. Nice tee boxes. Fairways decent and firm. Great greens. Loved the variety of holes. Houses on course but set back. Overall nice experience and would play again.

we played here yesterday with 32 players. Got this in just before everything closed down AGAIN. Opinions on the course were all about the same when i talked with my group. Greens were excellent, the layout was a ton of fun, tee boxes were good. It was cart path only due to some overseeding going on in the fairways. The fairways were also quick wet due to to overseeding so we played lift, clean, and place. Bunkers were okay and service was awesome. We hope to play again when conditions are at their peak. CPO, made for long rounds and tough scoring. recommended

Played 7/27...course is in great shape. Was able to get out an hour early and didn't really spend any time waiting except on number 10. Another resort course, so expectations should be high here. Looked like they were doing some heavy maintenance on a few holes, but didn't really affect the playability of the course at all.

Greens - 9/10. Greens were in great shape. Rolled quick but were still soft and receptive. Little unforgiving on the speed side...would say they were probably a 13 on the stimp.

Tees - 7/10...few places had to work to find a flat lie or tee off a little farther back. Other than that they were in great shape. Didn't come across any boxes that had too many divots or were damaged in any way.

Fairways...8/10. Few places were a little thin but mostly playable no matter where you were.

Rough...6/10. This is one place that they need to spend a little time and work on. Rough was thin in many areas and needs water. Had to move the ball to little patches here and there else you were hitting off dirt patches.

Bunkers...was lucky enough not to find any bunkers myself, but watched the guys I was playing with hit. Looked like there was soft, fluffy sand that played well.

Overall I would highly recommend this course. If you go on a weekend, be prepared to wait as the PoP here is very bad during high traffic times. If you go during the week though, you can get around in about 4 hours.

Played Saturday at 11. Course in covid mode but check in was easy and no waiting. Teed off on time and played without waiting all day. Lots walking but they also had carts. Course was in great shape, rough lush and hard to advance the ball at times. Fairways great with a few patches marked as gur clearly. Bunkers were great even without the rakes, greens were soft and a little bumpy but were rolling fast. Great customer service and I think the staff is as happy as the golfers that they are open.
Fun track and has some fun holes. Get out and enjoy the sun

Played Sunday the 18th and the course was OK. We teed off early so pace was great and finished in 4 hours with a couple of slow partners in my group.
Tee boxes are not very level and a few had bad damage, expected a little better with the rate you pay out here.
Fairways were decent but a lot of different grasses on the course and some great lies but also some not so great lies.
Rough was penal and thick and not easy to play from but exactly what it should be.
Greens were in good shape but had some different grasses that led to some less than smooth putts. The greens are challenging with the slopes.
Sand was a mix of good to not good but overall have very little complaints with there never being not enough sand or too much, just wish they were a little more consistent.
Good time but not worth the rack rate. Better places to play for the cash.

Played today with an Underpar special with free replay. First time playing here especially being an 1.5 hour drive from OC. Unfortunately we only played one round as the course was booked solid, however good 4 hour POP. The course greens were in very nice conditions, however they plan on aerating the greens next week. For a resort course I expected better conditions, maybe i am spoiled visiting the resort courses in Palm Springs. Some of the tee boxes were bare and uneven. The fairways were nice and some were overseeded. I just don't care playing on Kikuyu grass as the ball does not roll and your clubs seem to grab the turf more. Some holes were challenging, especially the 18th hole. The staff is great and friendly. Worth visiting in the future.

Played in the SCGA Senior 4-ball Net Championship at RBI on Monday/Tuesday, 10/2-3/2017, teeing off at 8:30am both days. You’d think that the (I hate that darn) kikuyu warmup I had a San Juan Creek last week would have helped prepare me, but when the course staff throws in overwatered conditions, scattered and frequent soggy areas, and very soft greens in the kikuyu universe it just gets even more fun. The weather was mild, with alternating sun and some cloudiness – the 2nd day was very windy on the back nine. The course looked good from afar, but was overwatered everywhere, resulting in big ball marks and gouged-out fur pelts on green approaches. Almost every shot resulted in a mudball. Other than that, the course was in pretty good shape. Greens had good coverage and rolled well at medium+ speed, especially downhill toward the main drainage running down the shallow canyon where the course is situated. Going away from the centerline putts were slower. With the wet conditions all the greens showed spike and shoe marks all day. Most greens had evident old and newer ballmark damage. Lies in fairways were good, but rollout was reduced in the wet kikuyu; in the rough the playability varied depending on grass depth and whether the ball sat down in the cushy grass. Sand was adequately deep and playable, although damp from irrigation. Tees varied from wide and flat to narrow and slopy and domed. Par-3 tees, and shorter par-4 tees, were pretty damaged, and players were failing to use the sand refills provided. Pace was around 5 hr each day – the SCGA used tee times on holes #1 and #10, compared to previous years when the start was a shotgun. There is a small range on mats a shuttle ride away. The putting green is small and pretty flat, and watered like the course, so it was showing a lot of shoe/spike marks immediately. Carts have a good GPS. Generally enough water available, but on the 2nd day water jugs were not out on #7 and #13 tees. There are hazards in play on almost every hole, and offline shots can easily find trouble. Many holes have very narrow aspects off the tee to get into good position. My team held up pretty good for 27 holes, picking each other up when the other had a bad hole, and avoiding blowups, but it all came unraveled on the back nine Tuesday, and we couldn’t seem to stop the bleeding. To add insult to injury, a sprinkler came on as we were teeing off on #16, so we had to time our shots and hit quickly to avoid being soaked! The 1-hcp 7th hole has a swale in front of the green that funnels drainage from a large area across just in the front of the green – as a result, this area is slightly below the green level and is always wet and soft. On a 450-yd par-4 with a small green, it’s impossible to bounce the ball onto the green, as shots just die in the thick wet swale in front. This needs to be addressed by a drainage change or some other solution to make this hole more playable. This is a fairly nice course in a resort venue, but like many SoCal courses it’s really overpriced for the conditioning and facilities presented.

Took advantage of their August special and played today @ 11:52am as a 2some joined by another single. Played behind another 3some and finished just under 4 hours. As a first timer here, we were somewhat confused in trying to located golf shop but got good help from everyone we encountered. Good service by cart attendant to the starter.
We enjoyed the course. It definitely has the resort feel with fairly good playing conditions. Tees were good. Fairways were mostly green and had good coverage but rough were rather spotty. Was in 2 fairway bunkers and they both had white fluffy sand which was a surprise. Greens looked good and held the lines very well but unless we were above the hole, it rolled much slower than it looked. Could have been due to the chemicals applied early in morning not really drying off due to overcast weather conditions. Whatever the reason, had problem all day leaving chips and putts short of the hole.
Liked the course overall and would like to play it again. Recommended.
