Played here on Labor Day (9/03) with the wife. We drove down to Carlsbad for the weekend and since we've never golfed here we thought we'd give it a try. Weather was about 82 degrees, but you do get a little coastal breeze. The course was packed, and our 9:18a tee time was about 10 minutes late. The course is in pretty good shape, not the kind of shape that you would expect if you paid the $110 rack rate they were asking, but was worth what we paid. The tee boxes were good, not too chewed up. The fairways were mostly tight and green, with a few brown and bare spots here and there. The sand traps were pretty loose, not too compacted or dirty. The rough was pretty thick and on a couple shots I could feel the grass twist my clubface. The greens were in very good shape, the roll was quick in the morning but not unfair. They did firm up quite a bit around noon. The undulations on some of the holes were ridiculous, so 3 putts can come quickly if you're not on the same level as the flagstick. Even from the blues tees the course plays long. A lot of forced carries and blind tee shots make it a challenge. When in doubt on this course...go with one more clublength. The back 9 is definitely tougher than the front 9, and overall the course isn't for the weak of heart. As mentioned in previous reviews, there is a lot of cart path to travel, a lot of airplanes flying overhead, and transmission towers throughout the course. That being said, if you can find a good deal online, this course is worth it. Definitely worth the green fees if you're a SD or Carlsbad resident, or if your a member.

PS...I heard that they will be aerating the course soon, so check with proshop to find out details.

Played the 26th. First time I've ever played this course. #1 - It seems overpriced. Greens, fairways, bunkers, and rough were all in in good condition - but not great.
The layout is average at best - a bunch of forced carries. Greens were not very flat and had lots of undulations.

Lots of planes taking off overhead and plenty of wind in this area because its exposed.

I like playing new courses and it was worth the 70 bucks to play it just once. But I won't be coming back at that rate... there are better values to be had in the area.

Fairways are in good shape, bunkers seem like they were good(wasnt in one) and the teeboxes were nice and level. The greens in my opinion needed some help. Practice greens were perfect, but the greens on the course had alot of healed unfix divots and unrepaired divots. Fixed probably 2-3 divots per hole. The greens here are probably the most undulating greens i played on. If your not on the right level, a 3 putt is given. Course gets alot of noise from airplanes flying by, and the electric towers are a eye sore, but overall the course is solid.

I wanted to immediately wash the taste of Lake San Marcos out of my mouth, so I figured I'd hit one of the nicer courses and take advantage of a super twilight rate. I called around and The Crossings seemed to be the most open and $45 seemed decent compared to their normal rates that have kept me from ever playing here.

I teed off right at 5pm and finished with barely any light left. I ended up joining with two other singles and we were stuck behind a fivesome on the back nine that really slowed us down. As long as we finished, though, I was happy.

This is a very enjoyable course that's in nice condition. The front nine is very hilly with lots of big undulations in the fairways, but for the most part pretty forgiving off the tee on most holes. Then the back gets very dramatic as it winds through the canyon with a lot of environmentally sensitive areas throughout, major changes in elevation, tighter fairways with lots of slope and some of the craziest green complexes you'll find anywhere. Very fun and very challenging! There are some major power lines and towers running throughout both sides of the course, which definitely takes away from some of the aesthetic appeal. Plus, you get the planes flying out from Palomar Airport next door and you can hear the screams from LegoLand on a few holes, so it's not as peaceful out there as it could be.

The course was in nice shape. Fairways were in really good shape for the most part, but a few were a little burned out. The greens were very nice. The rough was cut down very tight and seemed to be a hodge podge of grasses all growing in, so pretty spotty. Bunkers were very soft, heavy sand. All in all, it was in nice shape and definitely worth the super twilight fee. I don't think I would break the bank to pay here at full rack rate, but with the right deals it's a fun course to check out.

Played 6/20. The course is in very good shape right now. The biggest problem they have is their greens. Many (if not all) of the greens are splashed with patches of foreign grass. Additionally, many marks have not been repaired (c'mon people), and consequently, it rolled a bit bumpy. It's very difficult to get a good read on a putt since a smooth putt may still roll bumpy and turn on many of the inconsistent patches. Tee boxes, fairways and rough is in perfect condition. If you haven't played this course before, warm up prior to your round and score on the front because the back 9 is about three times as difficult as the front. Cart girl comes around often, and the marshalls are as helpful as they can be. This is a beautiful course and is playing very well right now. For the price, it's one of the best courses you can play in the summer as there are wonderful summer breezes.

This course is very exciting and beautiful, but yet challenging. Each hole is very different from the others. You have to constantly strategizing each drive, each shot, etc. until you get the ball into cup. Accuracy and distance are essential for most of your shots. There are lots of elevation changes. This course is not for casual or recreational golfers. The most of fairways are rather brown and somewhat dry. Greens are always tricky. Lot of the traps are pretty large and deep, but with good sand. Overhead power lines are a common sight over many of the holes. Friendly and helpful staff.
