If you like to ride in a cart or drive a cart this course is for you. There are miles of cart path here. Going from the 11th hole to the 12th is a trek. You travel behind the green and ride backwards toward the 12th box to play the hole. As you pass the green look at the approach you will soon face. There are no bunkers but tough nonetheless. The undulations on several of these greens need to be leveled off a bit. A great approach can leave you with an extremely difficult putt or chip due to the severe slope of the green. The conditions are so-so to great. The bunkers are great. The fairways are hard and beat up with many divots. The greens are a little better on the back 9. The ridiculous 18th green will be redone entirely. I saw a temporary green under construction about 260 yards from the black tees. This is a much tougher course in the afternoon in more windy conditions.

The greens were recently punched, but they actually rolled reasonably well. kind of "ptchy" at times, but still very playable. Fairways were thin but consistent. Overall course in decent condition given it's the dead of winter.
Staff was great and getting off first, zipped around in about 2 hours. I really enjoy this course, particularly the back side. Lots of fun holes!

Pace of play was decent, marshalls all around to help keep you in pace. Tee boxes were nice with panoramic views. Lots of elevation changes with doglegs to keep you challenged. Accuracy is key off the tee box with wind coming in through the area, lots of "environmentally sensitive" areas to eat up your golf balls (shouldn't they be not sensitive anymore if there are golf balls in there? oh well) Rough not really a factor. Bunkers in nice shape. Greens were above average, little gimmicky by having some bowl areas or spines. GPS was very nice in carts and even offered tips on each hole. Customer service was very nice from the pro shop to the range to the snack shop to the beverage cart.

Played in the 1st annual 2012 Johnny Walker Cup that my brother Otonitoni hosted. This was our 1st course. We had 8 total players and the matches were like Ryder Cup style in each 9. We played 36 holes here.

The facilities are very nice here; starting with ocean view club house to a large practice area. There is a convenient snack shop located right on the 1st tee. The course was in great shape for winter conditions. Fairways, green, and rough were in great shape. The wind is tricky here so club up or down accordingly. Also, many holes, the wind will negate the elevation change; watch your tip on your color GPS. The greens have ridiculous undulations here. Sometimes; not even fair. The front nine plays easier than back nine. The back nine plays into the canyon with many of their crossings over environmentally sensitive areas. The marshalls here earn their dollar...they patrol the course like hawks...which I am a fan of...for pace of play. Try to enjoy a drink after our round; but they were closed for a private event, unfortunate.

First of all I found out that between Christmas and the end of the year the whole time is considered weekend rates. So I paid a weekend rate yesterday for a Thursday, kind of disappointed in that. Course was crowded for a Thursday too. Took over 5 hours to play today. We teed off at 11:30 and finish as the sun was setting. As far as the course goes I agree with the last reviewers comments but I think it has gotten a little better. Some of the greens were flat out bad and #4 comes to mind. Not sure if this is a fungus problem or what but that green was absolutely terrible. I think the fairways are a little better since the prior review. You could definitely see where some of the areas were still growing in. I was actually surprised at how brown and yellow the course was. Playing Arrowwood the other week which isn't too far from here seemed much more lush and greener, just visually more appealing. So I don't think it was from a lack of rain. There were areas roped off in the fairways because I guess there is some difficulty in getting the grass to grow. I'm finding the more I play it the more the layout doesn't bother me. It definitely takes some experience in knowing the course. I just think right now there is better values out there.

Played yesterday Nov 7th, third time for me. Great course, a strategic challenge.A must play on the San Diego Area. Yesterday was cart path only and pace has been very low (over 5hrs) otherwise usually is around 4 hrs.
Great staff, beautiful clubhouse, cart equipped with gps and 5 stars practice facility.
