You will not find better conditioned fairways anywhere in the world. Greens are good but not unbelievable - rough is excellent. Too much sand (too fluffy) in many of the bunkers. Always a fun but brutal course to play - If you haven't done your scoring on the front nine, don't expect things to get better on the back. One of the better values in CA.

This course is the absolute best value in California. Only Spyglass and PGA West are harder, and if the wind is blowing (which it usually does in the afternoon) play for bogeys and pray! Great layout. Fast greens. Incredibly long from the back tees. Not crowded when I played it either.

Took up golf 2 years ago for retirement. Started here and love it. As bad as I am at the game,it is a great place to play. Staff and course excellent. Always well maintained. I play 5 courses around here and this is my favorite even though it so hard. It makes you think all the time and the pin placements can drive you nuts. Play it once and you'll be back. I'm glad I live here.

Great golf course! A must play! Was camping by Rancho San Marcos. Called the course day before; they said come on out. Put me with a twosome. A couple locals who play it alot. The greens had just been sanded and were running a little slow. I'd hate to see them when they're fast!!! This place is what golf is all about!

Print out e-yardage before you go. Course is a very tough design, don't play from the back unless you're single digit and can whack it a long ways. Course was in good shape, a little rough around the edges (where I sometimes end up). I didn't like the half-dirt and crusty traps, but they weren't crusty enough to keep my ball from completely embedding in the sheer vertical face of a large bunker on the back 9. Sand plays heavy. Greens were smooth and soft. Fairway lies were pristine. If it wasn't so far from me, I would play here a lot.
