Played on Friday, 1/12. I was fortunate to play with a few locals, who said the very breezy day that I would categorize as a 2-club wind as a calm day at the course.

Overall, the course design and layout is nearly a golfer's dream. Most of the fairway are wide and far, but every now and then, a hole would cause you to play strategic, target golf. The greens were super fast and having a shelf or two that made proper placement of the approach shot quite critical. Additionally, a putt or two rolled off the green from a short pitch as there was times no real fringe to speak of. Local knowledge is a must for a couple of holes where the appearances are deceiving.

We played on a day the the temp never got about 55 and was quite windy(January 12th) Really enjoyed it, excellent condition tee to green-those darn greens! Be closer then 30 feet or expect a 3 putt! I think it's a great layout. Plenty of room in the fairways, but you still have to place the ball on many holes. Tough par 5's, especially the greens. Watch the 15th hole, may be a lay-up for many players short of the trap you see, or you need to go just right of it about 260 max. Many great holes, great scenery. 17 is a round breaker if you are not careful, no room for error when it's windy. I would rank this in my top 5 along with We-Ko-Pa, Eagle Ridge, The Devil's Paintbrush, and Hunter's Pointe in Canada. It's a must play.

I finally got up to LP to play after having had to cancel many times. It's a great course. Local knowledge is easily worth 3-4 strokes per round, so expect a higher score first time around. Expect lots of elevation changes (all the par 3's play at least 1 club down hill) and some blind tee shots. The greens are really nice, perhaps the nicest I've seen on a SoCal public course. Anything left above the hole is almost an automatic 3 putt. A long (but easy) drive from LA, but highly recommended. Great conditions.

Played on 11/10 with 3 other frinds for the first time. Fairways and greens in great shape. Greens very fast - which I like- but some cups were positioned in middle of slope so either sink it or watch it roll 10-15 feet past. I hate that a good lag putt that should stop within a foot keeps rolling way past because of a ridiculous hole placement. Also for $94 you would expect GPS on carts - I play $40 courses that have GPS. Too much time wasted hunting for sprinkler heads and guessing yardages when you are off the fairway.

Played today 11/09 as a twosome for the first time. It took us about 4 hours to play. The staff was very friendly. I really like the course design. The scenery was awesome with a lot of old trees and rolling hillside surrounding the course. La Purisima was very hilly. You have holes where you are hitting up or hitting down. Course can be difficult to walk. Today the wind was really blowing which makes it more difficult to play. Being November, I was surprised the fairways and greens were in great shape. It was difficult for us to play since on most of the holes, we didn't know what direction the holes went. Some holes had severe doglegs. Course demands a lot of accuracy. If we're ever in the area again, we will be back to play again.
