Played twilight Monday 10/27. The greens here are in great shape and are quicker than they were last week. They are rolling true. The rough has been grown up around some of the greens and fringes and is high and thick in some spots. Makes hitting the green more of a priority. The tees are always level here which I appreciate and is not always the case on some other courses nearby. They are sanding the back nine tees. The fairways are in good shape. They have some portions of some fairways marked GIR and will need to water some of these spots. The staff here are great inside the pro-shop and we saw the cart girl a couple times. No wind today out on the course and our foursome had a nice day of golf. We played the course in 4 hours 5 minutes. This course is one of the best deals around in VC for the challenge, conditions and money.

The greens are almost back to 100% after fall aeration. The Cuomer Service is almost always a + here. Fairways and tees are lush and pretty. When the tumble weeds, flowers and catcus get 4-5' tall, they provide additional visual obstacles on tee shots on holes 2,5,7,11,14 and 16, where forced carries of 50-200 yards from the tips are required. The ESA areas are almost back to where they were before the fires from 1-2 years ago. the best recent change they have made was making some of the waste bunkers more of a regular sand trap with nicer sand (where rocks won't tear up your clubs) and you can actually spin the ball.

Played this afternoon twilight(10/20). Course is in good shape. Have not played here in some time. They punched their greens on 9/22 and they are almost back to perfect shape. I would give them another week or so. They rolled very true today...just a tad slow. Fairways are in great shape. Tee boxes are always level here and are in good shape. Rough not too penalizing. Some awesome and tough pins out there today(back left on #11 and #15). Pace of play was great today at Rustic. Great workout (7000 yds) from the back tees. The staff is very friendly in the pro-shop...one of the many reasons Rustic is one of my favorites.

Another day in paradise. We play this course every Saturday and it deserves great reviews all the time. Tee boxes and different of slope & ratings are a bonus at this course. You really have a different course from each tee. Fairways are lush and very wide so that golfers of any caliber can let it fly and hit most approach shots from good lies. The rough is not very thick so most players can have shots for a chance of a GIR. Large undulating greens have really slowed way down recently so putting is not as tough as "the old days". The peace and quiet of the canyon makes this a great way to spend 4.5 hours walking(highly suggested) a well conceived links style track. For price, value, challenge, conditons, and weather, Rustic Canyon really does deserve the top 100 ranking. The staff works hard to accomodate and you can always get a correct rules answer from Pro Buddy K.

I last played this on 9/4, but have played it 5 other times over the past 7 weeks. The course is fantastic, you have to play the blues however as there are three tee shots that are so much better from them, 6, 11, 14, and 16 possibly also.

On all my plays I have started before 7:10AM on a weekday and all rounds come in at a bit less than 4 hours. Yesterday, after the 6th hole there was never a wait and never anyone closer than a hole behind us for the rest of the round.

Always love to play this course when I visit California. One of my favorite places in golf. 5th time to play the course and this was not the most lush conditions I've seen here. Several areas seemed stressed but that doesn't take away from the great layout. The back nine here is as good as it gets. Pace of play left a little to be desired. I think we finished just over 5 hours at 11am on a Saturday. Will surely tee off early next time. The real back-up starts on hole six, a brutal par 3, which had 3 groups waiting on the tee. I don't remember seeing a marshall at all. Just a tough course for weaker players that contributes to slow play. I can't see having much fun out there if you can't carry the ball at least 200 yards. I can't wait to get back out there when conditions are at their peak again.

Played 8/24. 3rd group out in the fog. Although you couldn't see for the first 4 holes it was a good experience. I love this course and will continue to drive the 40+ miles to do so.

Stepped on the 1st tee at about 9:45am and went for a ride that was interesting and challenging for the next 5 1/2 hrs. This course was my first experience with links golf. As much as there is nothing to a links course when viewing it from afar, up close it is a different story. Rustic Canyon provided an adequate challenge from the blue tees especially when the winds started blowing in your face on several tee shots.

The course is in great shape from tee to fairways. The greens are huge(not including the false greens) and have undulations that will challenge you on any putt longer than 15 feet. The challenge today also included bumpy greens and some brown spots, however, they held very well on approach shots.

I certainly will come back to play a course such as this b/cuz its just something different from what I play normally. $60 is a great value playing a course in such good condition. Its well worth the drive into Ventura County.
