The fairways looked better than the last time I played here several weeks ago & are back to excellent. The greens were back to firm and reasonably fast, running smooth except if you hit ball marks or a patch of poa annua. The tees and aprons were back up to normal Rustic immaculate standards. Most of the bunkers close to greens have newer added sand and now play VERY different than the waste bunkers, which are usually hardpan. Gives you two very different bunker challanges, and if you get into one of the pot bunkers on 2/5, 7, 10, 13 or 18, you may be fortunate to get out in one shot, and it would be really rare if you could advance it toward your hole a significant distance. Chipping or blasting out backwards or sideways may be the only viable option @ times. The more I play here the more dangers I discover, small bunkers beside certain greens (7, 10 & 18 are examples) that you may play here a dozen times and not even notice........until a pin was cut close to that side. Definitely a thinking man's/shot makers course.

Played twilight today Monday 6/9. Fairways thicker, greener and have improved since I played here last week and in great shape. Fairways on the back are perfect. Greens are in great shape and on the slow side for Rustic. Players need to start fixing more ballmarks, especially on the par 3 greens. Today there was no wind and it was humid, perfect scoring conditions. I had a great front nine of 35.

Staff is friendly and Rustic has a nice practice facility. Some traps had gravel and some hard sand in them while other bunkers had nice quality soft brownish sand. Played in 4 hr and 10 minutes walking the tips with letting 2 groups play through us. I recommend going out and playing Rustic..beautiful golf course.

Really enjoyed playing with the man, myth, legend Johhny GK and Nickesquire this afternoon. Have not played here in over 2 months. They are losing some portions of some fairways on front 9. Overall though fairways, greens and tees were in good to great shape. Fairways on the back were in great shape. Greens rolling a little slower than normal and the rough in certain spots was up from what I remember. Traps in good shape as I was in them on #3 and #4. Wind was up some today. Course is just a really cool course. This course has several holes that you can score on and several holes that can eat your lunch...good and fair mixture of golf. We did not have to wait at all during the round. New addition waste bunker to #5 looks cool.

This place is sick. Granted I am too young/poor to have played very many nice courses in my day, but this was honestly a really fun round. By far, the most unique golf course i have ever played. The greens bordered on ridiculous on a few holes (and they definitely werent friendly with pin placements), and the "waste bunkers" are absolutely treacherous. On top of all that, u have to deal with the wind that whips thru that canyon... with all this difficulty aside, i had so much fun playing this course that i didnt even mind shooting such an awful score. i actually felt i was hitting the ball well, the course just beat me up pretty bad.

all in all, rustic might be my new favorite course in LA. cant wait to play it again, and at the price, i am positive u wont regret playing a round there.

Hole #5 has been renovated with the fairway tightened by 10 yards or so and both sides now ESA. ESA stakes much closer down the right side than they were 6 months ago. What used to be the gorge you went over for your 2nd shot is being transformed into a nice waste bunker that will no longer be red staked. It was raised and leveled out and will be a nice addition when it's ready. The greens are back to quick and firm. Tees are immaculate. The fairways are not as good as usual here, almost all have one or more areas that is severaly dried out and needs water badly. Played with Spaul100 early on Sat, thanks for coming up from the O.C.!

This course is rated top 50 in country best deals for less than $50. I have played there numerous times and is one of my favorite courses to play at. When the wind is blowing it becomes 10 times harder. The greens for slower than usual. This course have about 6 or 7 holes that if you can not consistently hit your drives over 200 yards do not play the blue tees. Well worth the money a totally enjoyable round of golf.

Always fun playing this course. Everything was in great condition. Greens have always been excellent here, but today, to me, they were just okay. Some challenging pinplacements. They did roll true though. Pace was good. Couple of blow up holes ruined my round, but I did enjoy the time with friends and the great weather.
