Played 1-30-16 POP was just over 4 hours. Course looks old and weathered. Fairways hard so you will get lots of roll. Greens were firm and very bumpy, speed was inconsistent. Traps had good sand as I was in many on the back nine. Fun course but needs some TLC

Played here again yesterday with a 7:24 tee time. A frost delay had us teeing it up at 8:30. Customer service here is outstanding as they let everyone know what was happening and when we could get out etc. The food in the snack area is great and the golf course pace of play and greens were very good. Now the not so good......The fairways and tee boxes were patchy and beat up with many bare areas and unrepaired divots. I really believe that players do not repair their damage to the course due to the extreme cold conditions. They just hit and head back to the cart. The sand was also left without raking and little sand. I really like this course but the lack of rain, cold frosty mornings, and lazy golfers has made it play just like a muni should....ho hum conditions. Not terrible but definitely not up to the normal standards I have seen here earlier this year!

Played here today and I have to agree with the last reviewer, conditions are not as good as last month for some reason. Don't get me wrong I still think the course is in nice shape but it isn't as green and there are more bare spots. We really enjoyed ourselves but one thing puzzled me. They punched the greens with small holes about a week ago and although they were mostly smooth I am sure I saw on their website that they were not punching the greens this time around. I understand the need to aerate the greens but it seemed they were not in need of it by their publication. We all had a great time and finished in 4 hours so all was good!

Returned to Simi Hills on Sunday, $42 walking rate playing the blue tees. Conditions weren't quite as great as they were a month ago, but still an incredible value for the experience.

Returned to Simi Hills on Sunday, $42 walking rate playing the blue tees. Conditions weren't quite as great as they were a month ago, but still an incredible value for the experience.

The fairways are certainly a bit more dried out than they were just a month ago, but totally playable. The greens are actually quite fast for still showing some signs of aeration. For the most part rolling true and holding shots well. Tee boxes are fine. Sand was a little heavier than one would wish for. The rough is a bit of everything - avoid the mulch which plays like sand!

Great layout, fun course with plenty of challenges. Always recommended. A few more water stations would be nice on the course, but the cart girl came around a lot, and that is a wonderful thing. No, seriously. Trust me on this one. Service at the front desk was terrific and POP was about 4.5 hours. Good times.

Played 10-6-15 twilight for $23 walking with Nickesquire in about 3 hours 45 minutes. Course is in overall good shape. Tees , fairways ,and rough all semi lush and in good shape. Found one fairway bunker that was pretty hard and another that was very soft. Greens were rolling pretty good with an occasional bump from afternoon play. One of the better deals around for twilight with the shape the course is in.

Walked the Blues (6432/70.4/125) twilight 10/6 for $23 with RGM2525, John & Sean in 3H, 40M. The weather was warm and fairly calm, very nice golf weather. Most of the tees were lush with few unfixed divots, nicely maintained. The fairways are mostly lush, well maintained & had good coverage overall. The rough is generally lush and deep enough to let your ball settle down just enough to be penal. Some scattered hardpan areas in the rough. The rough around the greens is mowed down and makes for nice chipping. The traps had a decent amount of sand, but they had definitely not been raked today. Medium to large grain dark brown sand that usually plays better than it looks. The greens putted medium speed, were consistent from green to green & were very receptive to holding approach shots. Overall, typical poa annua, a bit bumpy as the ball slowed near the hole later in the day. Fun layout with plenty of hills & trees that keep you honest. Medium to somewhat challenging course to walk, constantly up/down rolling hills on the front 9, the back 9 is flatter. The customer service was good, quick, efficient check in. No drink cart on a course that has removed multiple water stations should be taken into account before you tee off here. Recommended = yes, medium difficulty course in above average condition @ good prices.

Played yesterday afternoon with the LA Golf Group league. The course conditions have not really changed much in the last couple of weeks. Greens seemed a little firmer than last time. They rolled okay; not super smooth, with slightly slower speed (I would guess around 9'-0" tops). It seemed like everybody in our group read too much break, so greens were tricky. Overall, the course seemed a little drier than the last time I was here, but there was grass coverage nearly everywhere. A few localized GUR here and there, but they were recovering. Sand was like decomposed granite, coarse and dark, with thin coverage over hard pan. I continue to struggle in these bunkers. The cart girl was super cute and we saw here about three times. Beers were fairly expensive and they don't have a hard liquor license, so if you like cocktails they have "Han" brand rice wine knockoffs of your favorite libation. $45 to ride and there was a $5 key deposit, which I forgot about and left it behind. $2 for a small range bucket of 15 balls was not too bad. We were the last group of a small tourney and pace of play was somewhat slow at around 5 hours.

Having accidentally left my 56 wedge at Simi Hills last week, decided to get together a foursome with two friends and GKer Mattias. Awesome service all around - had my club ready to go for me in the pro shop and away we went on time at 9:48am from the blues on a gorgeous but insanely hot Saturday.

Not much changed since my last review - this place is STILL the best value for your golf dollar in the LA area. $42 (+$5 for a push cart) is such a steal. Fairways look fantastic - even better than last weekend. The greens that looked great but were somewhat slow last week were fast again, and straight as arrows as I somehow sunk like 4-5 putts over 20-25ft.

Tee boxes and sand traps were in excellent shape. Only minor gripe (depending on your view of the rough) is its varying forms along the course - some thick and penal, some cut not much longer than the fairways, and mulch areas that can wreak some havoc if you don't hit super clean outs.

POP was a little slow at 4:45 but had a great group so it wasn't that bad, except for the crazy hot temps. Think that was slowing everybody down a bit.

Cart girl came around at least 3 times, and maybe for such a hot day a few more water stations may have been a good call, but overall this place is just great. To each their own, but some of the ratings for this place are way low! Not sure what more people want! I think it's a true country club experience at local muni rates - get here and see for yourself.

Played here today; $23 to walk at 3:23 p.m. I think twilight starts at 2:00. POP was about 3:40, finishing around sunset after hooking up with a threesome that I caught on the 7th tee. The course is in fine shape with nice fairways (they looked good as I only got to hit from them a couple of times). Most of the rough was inconsistent: it was a mixture of grasses (bermuda, kikuyu, and fescue) with all kinds of lies from deep to tight. Tees (I played the blues) were mostly good and level except for a couple that seemed shaggy or were a little uneven or tilted. The greens were good; speedy enough that you could easily run your putt by the hole 4 feet or more. The sand gave me fits all day as it was very course and appeared to be hard packed (it wasn't). I liked the pace of play and conditions were really nice for $23. I didn't like spending $7.50 for a beer and $4.30 for a Monster. However, I will be back next weekend.
