Walked the Blues (6432/70.4/125) twilight for $23. Got matched up with 3 collegiate golfers who all had alot of game, thanks Lexie, Julie & Amanda for a nice round! POP was good, 4 hours in hot, still conditions. Medium to somewhat challenging course to walk, constantly up/down rolling hills on the front 9, the back 9 is flatter. Most of the tees were lush with few unfixed divots, very nicely maintained. The fairways are mostly lush, well maintained & had good coverage overall. The rough is generally lush and deep enough to let your ball settle down just enough to be penal. Some scattered hardpan areas in the rough. The rough around the greens is mowed down and makes for nice chipping. The traps had a decent amount of sand and they were very well maintained. Medium to large grain dark brown sand that plays better than it looks. The greens putted nice overall. Medium fast, consistent from green to green & were very receptive to holding approach shots. Overall, typical poa annua, a bit bumpy as the ball slowed near the hole later in the day. An oddity is that almost all the normal portable water stations on the course were not out today? Fun layout, medium on the challenge scale, but there are plenty of hills & trees that keep you honest. Twilight rates are very good, 1st time I played here in 5 months. The course is still in good to very good condition overall. Definitely nicer condition that many other local courses. It won't be 5 months before I am back.

If there's a better deal for a great course in SoCal than Simi Hills, I haven't seen it. Had a 7:08 tee time on Saturday (you can only book 7 days in advance after 8am if not a Simi Valley resident - 8 days ahead for them), paid $42 greens fee and a $25 cart fee for two (that part is a little steep, but $42 is amazing on a Saturday morning for this track). My second time at Simi Hills and I had been itching to get back since I played the first time in a torrential spring downpour. I knew I could do better on a nice sunny day, and did so, beating my previous score by 12 strokes (playing from the blue tees again). Front 9 is a little more pedestrian and straight forward than the back, but both are in excellent condition and provide all sorts of challenges, either with placement, elevations or best angles to tricky greens. There are numerous, well placed bunkers guarding many of the greens, and enough water to make you really pay attention to your landing areas. The layout is really just good fun and quite a challenge. Conditions are pretty excellent, especially at that price. Greens are in perfect condition, but they do not run as fast as they look, however roll true and hold shots perfectly. There are dry spots in the fairways, but most are circled and treated as GUR, so you can move your ball. But again, it's minimally distracting - most of the fairways are remarkably lush. Rough can be very heavy and penalizing, but it's consistent. Tee boxes in great shape. Sand was generally very good, but a little heavy due to early morning dew, but that went away by the back 9. So for the price, you can't do better in LA in my opinion. Carts even have a very nice GPS system. Cart girl came around 2-3x so that was great, and we never really had to wait on any holes as the pace moved along nicely, finishing in just over 4 hours. There is plenty of OB trouble to get into so don't get too squirrelly out there - you will be punished. But overall, this place is just amazing. Plan on making the early trip up there more often until the secret's out and they realize they could charge at least $50-60 on weekends and not lose any guests! Shhhhhhh ...

Played here for the first time Saturday 9/05. It will not be my last time! This is a really nice track and it is in great shape tee to green. I booked a single time @8:12 and I wound up with three other singles. We were all walking too which was great. Tee boxes were level, fairways were green despite the current drought and the greens rolled true! $42 to walk on a Saturday was a great deal for this course. Nice practice facilities also. Stay away if you play slow, the marshall was out and keeping things moving!

This is the first time I have played here since 2002. When I lived in LA, I used to play here quite often and always enjoyed this course. While there were some changes, the courses remains basically the same, I am totally impressed with the overall condition of the course! In fact I thought the greens were some of the better greens I have played on this year. (That includes a lot of private courses) Kudos to the maintenance staff at Simi Hills - you are doing a great job! I was paired with the first group off, so able to complete the round in just under 4 hours. I had requested to get out first alone, but I was advised it is not their policy to allow singles to play alone ???? (Which in part explains why it's been 13 years since I last played here. I had a wonderful time, enjoyed the course and the company. and for $20 this is a real bargin ! Sure wish we had courses like this at those rates in Orange County !!!

Played here on 6/22/15 with 3 others. They are just doing so many right things here. Course is in excellent shape and is a joy to play. I noticed during my approach shot on 18 a maintenance worker edging the back bunker with a sharp shovel. It turns a shabby look into a sharp look and the players recognize their efforts. Keep up the good work Simi Hills!!Get out and give it a try.

I would recommend to anyone to play it and won't be disappointed. Still haven't figured out whynthey removed the water coolers.

Playing in the Simi city championship today and tomorrow, course is in great shape - maybe the Los angeles city courses can get a clue on how to maintain a course and run a tournament from Simi. The condition rivals many private courses.

Played on 5/16 with a friend of mine. Had an 8:44 tee time and got off pretty close to the tee time, maybe a few minutes late, but not bad. Got paired up with two nice singles. Course was in good to great shape.
The tee boxes were all fairly level except on or two holes, and lush.
The fairways were nice a lush, with only a few bad lies. Rough was thin in some places and extremely long in others, but it's supposed to make your shot difficult so whatever.
Was only in one bunker, but it had some nice fluffy sand, and played true.
The greens were excellent, with hardly any ball marks to be found and putted smooth and true. Some were a little faster than others, but they were all in good shape and looked like they had been rolled recently. The carts now have GPS and when compared to Iphone Apps and a SkyCaddie they were within a yard or two. POP was about was a little over 4 hours, but didn't seem like we had to wait on many holes and after getting a dog at the turn and letting the group in front clear we didn't have to wait on a shot. Great time and will be back.

I haven't played here in quite some time but thought I should give it a try. Reviews on GK have been mixed so I thought I would check it out for myself. Went out with 3 others at 7:24 on 5/11/2015 and finished in 4 hours. We all found the course to be in very nice shape overall from tee to green and only experienced bad, thin, and bare lies when we missed the fairways and greens. Those lies didn't bother us at all since you are suppose to hit fairways and greens RIGHT? We all left saying we will be returning soon. Pace, price, conditions, feel, look, and enjoyment are all there. A great place to walk as well!
