Golf course is in good shape, fairways nice, greens nice, traps a little thin, tee boxes in good shape(couple holes unlevel). Had a great round(73) from the tips but I won't be back due to the poor service.

Very enjoyable round of golf. Teed off at 7am and played in just under 4 hours. Course in good shape, but as stated by other players the sand traps need so attention. There were quite a few bare spots in rough around greens which was a bit disappointing to see as well. But it is for sure a good test of golf with a premium on short iron accuracy.

Played twilight today 7/3/08. Have not played here in a while. Fairways were in decent to good shape. Traps were thin(which is OK for fairway traps) but I feel that the greenside bunkers needed a little more sand. Greens were fast in trying to hold chips and putted average to fast and were in good shape. I think the key to this course is where they put the pins, alot of pins today tucked in the extreme front or back led to a difficult putting day for our group. I am not sure if they can lengthen or expand a par 4 here but I think only having 3 par 5's here hurts this course overall....not too many birdie holes here at Sterling.
I enjoy the challenge of this course from the tips. Our group played in 4 hours and 40 minutes today during twilight with alot of people ahead of us. Marshall was doing his job patrolling the course. Pro-shop staff were nice inside. This course I feel has a tougher front nine with #3 being a long par 3 from the tips and #6 having a tough landing area on the drive and #9's green not being very deep from front to back. Back 9 has alot of very neat holes like #12 and #14 to name a few. Give Sterling a try.

I recomend this course to everyone, but you must play it a tleast two or three times before you really enjoy it at its best

Played Sterling Hills at 6:30 am on Monday June 30, 2008. Fairways and greens in very good condition, though there were many ball marks on greens. Sand was wet, and muddy in some traps. Tee box placements could have been more level. Overall, this is a very nice course. short length is deceiving, as most fairways are sloped and shot placement important. I will definitely keep coming back!

Played Sterling for the first time yesterday- $25-2:06 tee time via their website. Finished around 7:00. Pace was pretty good until the last five holes or so when a group of four guys playing for each other's mortgages or something held everone up.
I was impressed by this course. For a public course it was in really good condition and the fairways made Camarillo Springs look like a slum IMHO. (I heard the Cam Springs owners bought Sterling Hills a few months back...I hope they don't F it up.) The sand was a little wet probably due to all the watering cuz of the heat but no big deal. Plus, the greens were a little marked up but I've definitely seen worse.
Love the high tech GPS and the friendly staff as well. I'll be back and will probably opt for SH of Cam Springs in the future.

I enjoyed playing this course. Tees, fairways, rough were in excellent condition for a public course. Greens were a little bit better than average.

Course is not real difficult, but not easy either. Many holes have challenging shot decisions that reward good shots and penalize bad ones.

I look forward to playing Sterling Hills again.
