Got out today with Ken, Mike and Jeremy from La Golf Group. Had a wonderful time with these guys! Course was in good shape. They place more emphasis on taking care of rough over fairways. Rough was super green and lush and 3 plus inches. Very difficult to hit out of. Fairways were in good shape, but dormant. Greens were in great shape, a little bumpy, but putted fast around 10.5. Layout is very unique with fescue and plenty of water hazards and uphill and downhill holes. This is a tough course and requires some precision driving and a good short game. I had neither today, but enjoyed the pain!

the have a nice driving range with mats, 2 practice green. as in most private clubs, there is no gps in the carts so bring ur personal gps for yardage. they do have some sprinklers marked with front,center and back yardages.
tee ground in good condition. lush and green. fairways were decent, brown but playable. now, the rough is another story. You really get penalized for not hitting the fairways as the grass grabs your clubs and wont let go. :)

greens were semi fast. had a difficult time reading the breaks but enjoyed putting on them. some multitiered greens so keep an eye out for pin placement.

It was nice to see Jeremy and Cuong driving the ball and Mike putting.
Overall had fun playing and would come back.

Played out there on 8/27 with MDAMES in a 2 man scramble. Sand was in great condition. Greens were fast and in great condition. Fairways were in great condition. The course was just in great condition. Played with a guy that took maybe a half swing and drove the ball 300+ yards everytime. I drove the ball 321 and the freak drove it 345. Unfreakinbelivable!! The guy was great to play with, MDAMES was great and I had a blast.

Played Wood Ranch Golf Club yesterday with GK member TheBigDog. TheBigDog won a free twosome at Wood Ranch Golf Club from a GK Event last year and we finally redeemed it. Had a great time on a great course.

This is one tough yet fun layout. You need to be accurate off the tee and on approach with every shot. It’s a tight yet not target golf type of course. Lots of risk reward opportunities, deep rough, challenging bunkers and very undulated greens to contend with. The conditions of the course for this time of year was good and soon to be great once the fairways totally wake up from dormancy. The greens are pure poa and were running smooth, medium-fast and held shots well. The sand traps were a let down in that the sand quality was not up to par with what I would expect from a country club. Overall it was firm and old. Still groomed nice and free of debris but nothing to be impressed with. The tee boxes were excellent and the rough was lush. The rough, despite being cut only 1 to 3 inches, was still difficult to play from because it was thick and the ball tended to sit down. I can only imagine how difficult the rough is to hit out in the late spring, summer, early fall.

I heard membership prices have dropped for the course. We teed it up with a very nice guy Paul trying the course out while considering joining. He liked it! Said they are only asking $2000 initiation and $495 a month for dues. I don’t know the exact details so you would need to contact them directly but that seems like a super deal for a track of this quality.

Played this course on Tuesday, although it was a perfect 65 degrees and sunny, the course suffered a little from the very wet Sunday-Monday storms.
The fairways were fairly thin, and slushy wet on some holes. The rough was tough because of the lushness, but that is why its called "rough". The tee boxes and Greens were by far the best part of the course. The greens were running very fast, and continue to be a great challenge. The tee boxes were nearly flawless, extremely level with very few divots or marks. Overall the course is in good shape for being the end of January.

The most difficult part of the day was staying out of the rough, which was very punishing. Overall my experience at this private course was excellent! Hopefully I will be invited back to play again, as I think my score could improve after having been beaten up pretty good on my first visit. (the service at the club was also excellent, from the starters to the drink cart, to the after round drinks)

Played out at Wood Ranch today 4/11 with KVISER, MONEYSWORTH, and ROBSTRETCH. Course is in fantastic condition. Tee boxes were nice, fairways were green and rolled good, and the greens were smooth and freakin hard to read sometimes. The only real complaint I have is that the sandwich in the box lunch was just a touch jucier than sawdust. At least the cookie tasted homemade. Overall I had a great time and would recomment the course to anyone that gets a chance to play it. I shot 39 on the front 9 and then sort of didn't keep score on the back. cough...cough...can't remember why. Oh and if you play there and are hitting into the green on 18 and have a front pin placement you will want to put towards the back of the green to get to the front of the green. Super fun!

Played on Monday, April 11, 2011, as part of American Golf Foundation's Japan Fundraiser for the recent earthquake and tsunami. Joined by GKer's Robstretch, Moneysworth, and Fear. Course was in perfect condition. Visually stunning and a very challenging course if you can't hit a fairway, and these fairways had some really narrow landing areas. Rough was thick and really deep in some areas. Greens were slick, probably running at least a 12. Lush conditions throughout. Tee boxes were as flat as an iron. First time at this course for all of us and I got beat up by it. I would definitely play here again if given the chance.
