Wood Ranch Golf Club is such a fun track requiring shot making on every hole while at the same time never forcing you to leave your driver in the bag. The back nine is a true masterpiece highlighted by dramatic water features and gorgeous views. Holes 10, 13, 16 and 18 are unforgettable.

Wood Ranch Golf Club is also an outstanding private course to have an event at. Monday, 2/23 was my 12th outing here since 2021. With an outstanding golf course, exceptional playing conditions, great service and perfect staging area featuring a large driving range, two large practice putting greens, clubhouse and golf cart stagging all conveniently close together, it makes hosting any size event very easy.

Teed it up with fellow GKers, rgm2525, GDR23 and mark_6m on beautiful February day. Greens were smooth, firm and fast. They were an absolute pleasure to play. The fairways were still a little moist from heavy rains last week providing full coverage. The fairways are bermunda turf which goes dormant this time year, light green, tight lies and provided good roll out on drives. The rough was very lush, cut down to 2 to 4 inches defining the fairways very well. Bunkers were all in good condition, firm with fine texture beige colored sand. Tee boxes were all lush, level and cut tight.

Try not to ever miss an opportunity to play this private club. It was once hosted LPGA and Senior Tour events. It will test every aspect of your game. They have a unique membership offering that also includes close-by Sunset Hills CC I recommend anyone living in North LA or Ventura County to check-out.

1/2 hours. Long Day. Tee boxes were in great shape, lush full coverage and level. Fairways were very nice with tight lies, decent roll out and good padding. Rough along fairways was in good shape, playing about 1 1/2 inches longer and lush. Rough around greens was a little longer and very lush. Was in a couple of greens side bunkers that had a good layer of nice sand, being a little thicker on the back nine. Greens were in great shape, rolling fast and smooth, playing semi-firm and just a treat to putt on. Always love playing here. What a great course.

Another great greens keeper event today! Lucky to get added late…

First time playing here, and all I knew going in was it is a pure golf club. No extra country club amenities. That should have been my warning sign it was going to be a fun but challenging course. Every tee shot comes with risk and reward, and unfortunately for me not having any local knowledge meant even good drives usually meant tough approaches. Not a lot of flat lies to be found. Greens all fast and pure minus the 8th, which it looked like they were having challenges with (patcy). Greens also all protected by bunkers with a lot of them having big lips and steep slopes. Fairways all green, with either the grass growing in for the season or another issue having each fairway full of random spots of thicker grass (impacted a few of my lies, but nothing major). Bunker sand harder on fairway bunkers but nice and soft around the greens. Tee boxes were nearly perfect—level and fully grasses minus the divots from today. Also nice they kept the snack bar open for us a little longer to be able to restock and get some food when passing by clubhouse on our shotgun start.

Got there early to make sure I could get a bay on the range with no rush—-nice range with mats and a grass area in front to tee up drives without worrying about the person next to you. Two putting greens made sure there was never any crowding to warm up putting.

Rode the blues this morning in group 1b with buddies Ron, John and Mark under perfect weather conditions 75 degrees and hardly any wind. 127 player Golfmoose/Vivid event had POP at 5 hours 20 minutes but it didn't seem to bad. Greens were terrific pure glass, quick maybe a 12 on the stimp. Firm on approaches but still receptive. Giving the greens a 10/10 rating. Fairways nicely padded with tighter lies and very green. Lots of rain last couple weeks and staff do a great job. Rated 8/10 I thought the rough was in very good shape. Long, lush and thick. Beautiful greenside rough in the 9/10 range. Tees were level and in good shape. Rated 8/10 Was in 4 greenside bunkers that varied from thinner sand on the front that was adequate and beautiful thicker sand on the back. Rated 7/10 This is the best back nine in Ventura County. Terrific golf course that is both fun and very challenging at the same time. Highly recommended!

On Monday, August 11th, I ran our 10th event at Wood Ranch GC with the help of GKers rgm2525 and mark_6m at Wood Ranch Golf Club. WRGC holds particular significance for our group, as it was the first Private Course to welcome our group in 2021. The club consistently exceeds expectations, offering exceptional playing conditions, well-maintained event facilities, and outstanding service.

From an organizer’s perspective, Wood Ranch Golf Club is an exemplary venue, featuring a spacious driving range, two practice putting greens, a snack bar, clubhouse, ample parking, and conveniently located 1st and 10th tees. These amenities facilitate efficient group management and enable large shotgun start events with ease. The service is professional and fantastic. Century Golf Management has been doing a super job improving the experience with every visit. The layout remains engaging and challenging, with numerous memorable holes and scenic elevated tee boxes. Notably, Wood Ranch GC enjoys one of the highest rates of return event participation among our players.

Having played at Wood Ranch Golf Club over ten times, I continue to find the course challenging and enjoyable. The renowned Ventura County Hole #13 Island Par 3 is well-suited for Closest To The Pin competitions providing an extra thrill. Thank you so much to everyone for attending this and previous events. Special thanks to GKer Deepsea14 for making the trip down from NorCal. Always a super time hanging out and teeing it up with Peter.

Played in the GK / Moose event 8/11 my first visit to the Simi Valley and the private Ted Robinson ('85) design.
Joining well versed veterans of the track from the blue tees with ideal weather.
Easy check-in at the Vivid tent and just missed making the the putting contest attempts for bonus swag.
Had a chance to walk through the modern clean clubhouse with a view over the driving range and GC from elevated 2nd story. Nice.
Course was challenging in good to great shape as Mark's review notes.
Handling the mini heat wave well. Tight lies in the short grass.
A couple pins were in positions that were not the best kept on the areas of the slick smooth surfaces. Back 9 a little more elevation change than front. One uphill par 3 on each side.
Bunkers in great shape consistent. Thick rough off the fringes.
Private CC upkeep was noticeable.

Fun day. First 18 holes since May. Lack of driver distance I knew it was going to be a short game challenge. Wasn't sharp enough to consistently score. Enjoyed the fast fair putting surfaces.

Wood Ranch solid once again!


Played WRGC on a beautiful Monday at the GM Event with Johnny, Ron, and Peter. It was an amazing time with wind speeds around 5 - 15 mph. Pace of play was around 5 hours. I note the following conditions:


Tee Boxes: Level and green, no damage. Condition excellent.


Fairways: Green, lush, and defined from rough. Condition excellent.


Greens: Green, medium-fast in speed, with softness. Speed about a 10.5 in speed but tricky with tough pin placements. Condition was good.


Sand: very well maintained, and heavy. Condition excellent.


Rough: very well maintained and defined, about 3 – 5 inches. Condition excellent.


Water Hazards: Very scenic on Holes 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, 13, and 18. Condition excellent.


Waste Areas: Waste areas were maintained with manicured nature that offered little to no recovery potential. Condition excellent.


Loved the Wood Ranch experience once again! This is a top level golf course that is always a treat to play. One of the best courses in Ventura County and all of SoCal! Looking forward to the next opportunity to play here! A+ for this great course!

Joined the GK/GM/Vivid Golf event and played with Matt and Rich. Fun day.


As we arrived at the parking lot, staff member came up to take our bags in.
Check in was super easy with Gary helping us get started. And off to practice area. Driving range had plenty of stalls. Hitting off mats with shiny range balls (looks pretty new :) 2 practice putting green was sanded but rolled really nice and fast.

Shotgun started on time and we finished just under 5 hours.

Tee boxes, fairways all good. lush and easy to hit off. got into a few bunkers and plenty of sand to splash out of. no complaints here.
Greens were similar to practice greens- fast and firm and quite enjoyable and unforgiving (in a good way)

Love this course. Design and conditions are top notch. Staff was super helpful. Enjoyed our day out at WR. Thanks to our playing partners for the tips provided in playing WR, to the GK gang and WR staff for making this happen. Until next time!

It’s always special having our events at Wood Ranch GC beyond what a fantastic golfing experience it is because it was the first course to welcome our group to play in 2021.

Once again, Wood Ranch Golf Club demonstrated Monday why our players love taking on this track with exceptional playing conditions, event facilities and great service. From an organizer’s standpoint, it’s one of my favorite staging areas providing a large driving range, two practice putting greens, snack bar, clubhouse, parking lot and both the 1st and 10th tees near each other. It’s easy to keep track of your group as well as launch large shotgun events. The layout is always a challenge with many exciting holes and scenic elevated tee boxes. Wood Ranch Golf Club has one of our highest return event participation rates. As far as membership, having now played Wood Ranch Golf Club over 10 times, I could never get bored of this layout. It’s a blast to play with challenges throughout. Hole #13, the "Island Hole" and an incredible Par 3 perfect for a Closest To The Pin.
