Nice city public course right behind Boulder Creek Course. As the day before we played in a 6 person scramble. The course played a little long because fairways were wet and we got almost zero roll. Tee boxes were excellent and fairways had plenty of coverage, sand traps looked good also but we did not have to play out of any of them. Not up to the scale of their neighbor Boulder Creek but as good as most well played public courses in California. You know how scrambles go that A player better be a real A player, ours got his first C I guess, but we did make it through without a 6 person bogey.

Played on Friday, 3/22, with a 10ish tee time. Joined a high school buddy and 2 of his friends for the round. 1st tee was running a few minutes late, but once we teed off, we never saw the 2some in front, no one behind, and finished in about 3:40.

Course amenities are basic, plain carts with just divot filler (coolers are available if you buy a 6 pack), no drink cart, on course snack shack was closed, but bar/grill was open (and you can hit it twice as you make your way around).

Course was in pretty good condition. Mostly level tee boxes with minimum amount of damage, nice length fairways with coverage from tee to green, rough was about 1-2 inches. Bunkers had some medium/heavy sand with some small pebbles. The greens are incredible. Smooth as glass and pretty fast for the undulations they have and steep slopes.

Like Boulder City is a different type of town (no gambling!), their municipal course is a different type of course in the Vegas area. Originally built in 1936, the fairways are tree-lined, with a couple of water hazards. There are some houses, but they are well hidden and out of play. Prices for locals and out of towners are incredible for Vegas golf.

Upon arrival, we d%mn near had to ask for a cart and put our bags on. There was a tournament behind us, so maybe that is why they were scarce. NO COOLERS, GPS, or USB chargers on the carts. If you want a cooler, you have to buy a six pack of something and then you can "borrow" one.

The food in the club house was only ok, but I've had better.

The check in was awesome. The Pro was totally nice and because we ordered food and the (pregnant) cook was running behind, he kindly moved our tee time back 10 minutes without causing a fuss. That was cool.

We played the course in 3:45 as a foursome.

The Tee Boxes, fairways and greens were in really decent shape, which is nice for this time of year and definitely gets my vote for a replay.

Nothing else really stood out. Other than something I'm going to start including in my posts is that THEY OFFER A JUNIOR RATE. This is big especially when I have a son that golfs and a daughter that is about to start. That stuff adds up.

Overall, it was a good course if you're just looking for "No Frills" municipal court golf.

Played on Friday, 10/6, at 7:45a with John_T, a buddy from work and his brother. I booked it through their website and was shown $40, but paid $36 at check in. The course feels and looks very "old school," and fits in with the quaint feel of Boulder City. It has a full size grass driving range and decent size putting green.

Course had just completed some "spot re-seeding" a few weeks earlier. Tee boxes appeared to be Bermuda starting to go dormant, short and dry, but flat and relatively divot free. Fairways were in good shape, with some bare areas at the start of the fairway, but the normal landing areas were well covered. Rough varied in length and could swallow up a ball in some places. Bunkers were in great shape with almost fluffy brown sand. Greens were awesome. Soft with a medium to fast pace. They can't have them too fast since they're is some severe slopes on some greens.

I loved the course. The first 5 holes are back and forth and tree lined. They feel narrow off the tee but are wider than they appear. Starting at 6, you skirt through residential areas that are mostly out of play with plenty of big trees to protect them. There's a handful of water hazards. Course is straight forward and flat. You can get in trouble if you're not straight off the tee. The challenge is around and on the greens. Most greens slope severely back to front, at least one with a 6 foot drop. They are also protected with bunkers that have a high face towards the green.

No drink cart, but you pass the main snack bar at 5 and pretty close to at 10th tee. There is also a snack shack at 13th and 15th tees. My only complaint is carts do not come equipped with a cooler, but they give you one if you purchase $10 in beverages.

I will go back. While it's not a destination course if you're visiting, it's a nice change from desert courses if you're local.

Sixpez and I rounded out our three-day Vegas golf trip here Friday, 1/15. We checked in around 2:00 and the starter said he couldn't promise we'd finish 18, but we could for sure get in nine holes for the $21 twilight rate, which included a cart. Things didn't look promising for finishing 18 when the front nine was packed and a couple of old guys jumped in front of us on the second hole. But fortunately lots of people seemed to quit after nine and we finished 18 as the sun was setting beyond the mountains in the distance. A fitting end to a great golf trip.

Conditions are wintry here, with splotchy fairways and splotchier rough, but very playable. Greens are medium fast to fast, and were mostly smooth except when sixpez hit a rock or something that knocked his ball askew on one green. The first five or six greens are severely sloped from back to front, making every putt an adventure. They flatten out somewhat after that, although 16 had a HUGE ridge right through the middle of the two-tiered putting surface. Tee boxes were acceptable, bunkers were a little rocky.

Overall a pretty basic course but it stretches to 6,600 yards and has some interesting holes. The back nine seemed a little more distinctive than the front. This is a good option for budget golf, but nothing worth going out of your way for otherwise. I had fun, though, especially when it became obvious we were going to finish.

Last but not least, Itslikeimsayin and I tried to squeeze in one final round before heading back home. Boulder City was a value pick at $21 with a cart. It would have only been $8 each to walk, but we were too tired to do that at this point in the week. We called ahead and the guy made it sound like it wasn't too busy out, but there were plenty of people on the front nine. Play seemed rather slow, especially once we got stuck behind a fivesome of slow-walking seniors on the latter half of the front nine. We figured there was no way of finishing. However, those guys left after nine holes and apparently a few others bailed out ahead, too. We cruised around the back nine very quickly, only catching some groups on the last couple holes. We were pretty excited to be finishing all 18 with a little bit of light to spare. The conditions of the course were okay at best. Ultimately, things played nicer than they looked. The tee boxes, fairways and rough are dappled in color with a partial overseed. Still, I generally had pretty good lies to play from. The bunkers had good sand. The greens were pretty good, rolling fairly smooth at medium speeds. As I said, it didn't look necessarily pretty, but as an inexpensive muni course we weren't expecting high-end conditioning or presentation during the winter. The layout is pretty basic, with the back nine being more interesting than the front. The front nine is a fairly simple parkland style course with tree-lined fairways and flat terrain. I did like the 8th hole, though, as that's a fun short par-4 with two small water hazards perfectly placed. The back nine felt like it was probably added at a later point in time as it seems to have a little more thought put into the design. There are some doglegs, hazards, bunkers and desert areas brought into play to dress up the layout some. That said, it still isn't anything overly distinctive or challenge. Overall, Boulder City is a fine little muni course that has its regular local crowd and doesn't pretend to be anything amazing. It is by no means a destination course, but it's fine enough for what it is.

Played Boulder City Muni last week and thought it was great, especially for the low afternoon summer rate. Definitely recommended if you just want to go chase it around.

Played Boulder City Muni last week and thought it was great, especially for the low afternoon summer rate. Definitely recommended if you just want to go chase it around.

Service is what you'd expect-outside services kid (by himself) doing a little bit of everything, friendly when asked anything, but not overly helpful which is probably more because of everything he's doing than anything else.

Stopped in the restuarant/bar area to get some drinks, lady was very nice loading us up with cooler with ice for our drinks. There are no coolers on the cart, course does have one water jug on each side, but the snack shack on the backside was closed when we started and when we finished.

Golf shop help wasn't overly friendly or enthusiastic but again, far from rude too so perfectly fine for us.

Range had decent balls and being a weekend, the grass part of the range was open. Longish tee area but good coverage, and the chipping and putting greens are good.

BSGC is just an old school course with parallel holes, built up greens throughout, and apart from #8 and #11, there aren't any real trickbag holes to speak of. Lots of tall mature trees everywhere, bunkers were in average to good shape, the rough deep and brutal to get out of consistently, and greens slow but relatively smooth considering we started mid afternoon.

No trouble areas to speak of except for the 11th green, which looks like they might be losing entirely. Apart from that and a couple burn out spots on the fairways here and there, the course is in good shape for the high desert in August.

I've always liked the layout of this course. But the greens have always been slightly bumpy.... always, not sure why. Most of the fairways and rough were grassy, but there were a couple areas per fairway where there were dormant brown grass or clumps of weed grass, but still very playable.

Pace of play was a problem though. Many slow players, but since this was on a Sat afternoon (03/07), I accepted that fact. Overall this course is fun, pretty easy but still fun layout.
Might be a decent value for any visitor that feels the need to golf on a weekend while visiting in Vegas.
