I went off in the first foursome of the gk guru group with Alex and gk power couple Brian and Tobi. Rio Secco is clearly a quality facility with top notch customer service all around. The golf course layout was a lot of fun. It wound through the hills, with many twists and elevation changes. The elevation also provided great views of Las Vegas, though it was a smoky day and the views weren't as clear as normal. Course conditions were good for mid-summer, with mostly full coverage in the fairways and rough. The greenside bunkers were disappointing, having a thin layer of sand on top of hard ground. This was especially troublesome, because some of the greenside bunkers are several feet below the greens. The greens themselves were lush, but slower than they looked. That led to many putts that stopped in the jaws, short. These greens would be super fun when the weather allowed them to be quicker. All in all, I found the Rio Secco experience to be very enjoyable. Great company, beautiful weather, and a great golf course. What more could anyone ask for?

Service was great, the guys in the parking lot were out to the car before I could even dump more balls to lose into my bag. Felt sorry for making them wait in the hot sun even though it was only 8:15. Also saw the cart girls plenty of times. On the way out the attendants were helpful cleaning the clubs and getting you out to the car in a timely manner. Last note on the service. High end desert course that charges $99 for the time we played in the middle of August and there is no water anywhere on the course and only one bottle in the cooler, well that pretty much summed up my experience out here. Hot and thirsty. Having just played 4 round in Phoenix the previous three days at half to 1/3 of the posted price here, not once was there a lack of water. Some courses had coolers every three holes loaded with bottled water, while others had ice/water and large cups every couple of holes. Unexcusable in my book.

After getting up to the driving range I was disappointed. The home of the Butch Harmon golf school has permanent mats on their driving range. Definitely off to an inauspicious beginning. Moved on to the putting green. They were moving great nice and smooth and fast.

Course was in good, not great shape. No worse than I would expect for a desert course in the middle of summer though. The other reviews will do a better job describing the actual course conditions, but I have no complaints about them. Found playing the fairways easy and flat with few brown spots. Rough could be penal as the ball could catch and be hard to get out. Greens were good, but not of the condition on the practice green. Not so fast that your ball would go flying past if you more than tapped it. Most of the tee boxes felt slightly up hill, not bad, just not flat forward to back.

I do not like playing near houses, obviously my mental game isn't quite strong enough. This course is surrounded by houses, but they are mostly overlooking the course from high up, so no worries about coming close to hitting them.

Overall, a good, not great course, that could have been a lot more pleasant with an amenity that most cheap muni's consider essential.

Played at 9:00am Wednesday morning with the GK Guru group. Tobi and I played with Vince & Alex on a super warm day. Staff was great and thrilled to have us at their facility.

* Range - adequate for getting warmed up. they use mats...
* Fairways - solid, good coverage...decent lies all day
* Bunkers - fairly poor Greenside bunkers, very crusty and at times challenging to hit good shots from.
* Greens - super slow....in fact...too slow, other than speed, it was okay, just took getting used to.

All in all it was a very solid course and enjoyable to play...especially with fun GK guys.

Really nice 19th hole.....good food and drinks...pretty sure John liked my sliders!

Went out today with a guru deal. Staff was very friendly when I arrived. Cart attendant met me at my car before I could even get out. I got there early to hope to get breakfast but unfortunately the restaurant was closed until late 830 I still got a decent breakfast burrito from the snack bar.

Course in good shape fairways were a few shades of green. Great lies when in the fairway and good rolls.

Rough was really tough and you needed an extra club to get out.

Greens were in great shape they were slow for putting tough and tough to read the breaks.

Tees generally flat and wide space to choose from. Did see some divot issues on the part 3s but not to bad.

One thing I hated about the course was the driving range which is all mats and they have zero watering stations on the course. It was 108 degrees and they don't have water! The cart girl was friendly and came around 4 times and she had a cooler but still wished for water.

In all its a fun course surrounded by homes but still some tricky holes

I try to play the Rio Secco at least once every summer I am out here if not more. The is a challenging yet very playable track that everyone should experience. During the summer, there are discounted rates from Sunday through Thursday.

The staff at Rio Secco on every visit has been nothing short of amazing. The folks in the pro shop, the cart attendants, starters etc have never been anything short of accommodating and amazing.

The fairways are really wide and forgiving. On the occasion when they ball misses, the rough is easy to get your club through but the stance will definitely be impacted. You will likely have the ball several inches above your feet and will have to account for that one your second shot. The greens rolled quick and true. They held pretty well on approach shots as well chips shots into the green.

This is a great course and although challenging, it's very playable. You won't need driver on every hole, there are plenty of times where a long iron or 3 wood will do the trick. If the wind kicks up as it tends to in the afternoon, you will definitely have your hands full when picking a club to hit into the green. There were times today when I had to add three clubs to a shot directly into the wind.

The only two things I wish they would change here are there are no water jugs on the course. The other is the artificial turf on the driving range. There isn't a lot of room on the grassy area so you have to hit irons off a long matt. It's pretty beat up and there aren't any flat areas to hit from.

If you get a chance, give Rio Secco a shot if you haven't already.

This course is way over priced for this time of year. I live in Las Vegas and can find nicer courses for a better price.

If you have not had the opportunity to play Rio Secco, you should put it on your lust of must play courses in Las Vegas. This is the home of the Butch Harmon school and "3 Tour Challenge". This is a deceptively challenging course. The fairways are wide and greens are pretty large. However there are a lot of subtle elevation changes that you will need to pay attention to when hitting into the greens.

The greens were quick and true especially above the hole. Surprisingly, the sand traps were not baked out and played like they should have. The bounce of the club would make the thump sound like you would expect.

The driving range is turf with a fair amount of slack in it. It was pretty spongy and lumpy so the warm up session can get a little frustrating. The starter was amazing. He recognized I was a single that had been paired up with a twosome that hadn't arrived. He asked if I wanted to get out early before a foursome went out.

You can hit driver on almost every hole with a mid iron to wedge left into the green. The fairways are pretty wide with generous landing areas.

This is a great course and the value is well worth it especially if you sign up for their email specials.

Played Friday 5/22 at 750am. We got there about 45 mins early and went in to the clb house rate was 118 with a 15% Caesars Players card. Staff was friendly and courteous. The range is a bit strange because it has a grass area but also a turf area. Only the turf was open unless teeing up a driver. ON to the round the course was in terrific shape. Lush tee to greens. you definitely need to be hitting straight of the tee other wise you are going to have a bad day. ONe other down side was no GPS in the carts which would help a lot with decisions, all though there are yardage marks on the course all over it would be nice to know the distances to obstacles in the fairways. As for the "Million Dollar Hole" they did not have anyone working the hole so even if you aced it it would not count towards the promotion. a little sad by that seeings how it was a friday on memorial day. To bad they didnt see me plunk one into the water haha. IN all very nice course could benefit from GPS on carts

I played Rio Secco for the first time on May 5th. The fairways were well manicured and the greens were healthy and quick. The rough was minimal and hardly penalizing. Tee boxes were well maintained and level. They advertise a 4.5 to 5 hour pace of play, but we were done in just over 4 hours. The staff was very friendly and I had a great conversation on tips for the course with the starter at the range. The restaurant/bar was clean and the staff very friendly. I had the rio secco steak sandwich which was fantastic. I highly recommend it. I really loved this course but I have to temper those feelings with the fact that I shot one of my best rounds ever.
