Stopped to play her on Sat morning before heading up to mammoth and was pleasantly surprised with the conditions to the course. Course is mostly flat and straight forward but has enough changes to keep you interested. Conditions were great from tee to green with the exception of some of the rough which is getting reduced or just not watered as much as the rest of the course. For $45 it was today worth the stop to play and check of any personal lists.

Played Friday and Sunday last weekend, both time quite early. Great pace of play of 3 hours each time.

Played Friday and Sunday last weekend, both time quite early. Great pace of play of 3 hours each time.

The course was in good to excellent shape. They were putting quite a bit of water on it because of the heat which limited the roll and made the sand somewhat damp. The sand was pretty deep but played well. The course was lush with few dry spots. The rough was thick in most places and we had to search for balls at times even though we knew the area where they ended up. it was definitely a factor.

The greens looked great but were very soft and ran on the slower side. They sped up on Friday as the round went along but never seemed to on Sunday. I think they had more water on them Sunday leading to the slowness. They rolled nicely, just pretty slow.

Overall, a good golf experience. The only real negative was the mosquitoes, especially on the back nine on Friday. We were told that the County sprayed on Thursday. It only made the squiters' mad from what we could tell. We were offered bug spray before we started on Sunday, nice touch I thought, which helped a great deal. We still saw plenty of the pests on Sunday but the bites were not nearly as frequent.

Played here last Friday with SR129, dabldya, and sr129 on the way to Mammoth Lakes. This was a fun, open layout with friendly service and good prices (golf, beer, food). We ate here on the way back home and it was good. The course does not look pristine like Sierra Star, but for around $65 it was nice. This course is at 4000 foot elevation, so it seemed like balls went further, but I'm not really sure. The greens were nice: somewhat soft, deep green, and rolling medium fast and smooth. Fairways and rough were not as deep green, but good lies were had most everywhere. The rough was penal with anywhere from 1-1/2" to 2-1/2" of sticky grass in some places, but the wide fairways made up for it. Fairway shots seemed to run quite a ways. Tees were good as well with no problem finding a level place to tee it up. The bunkers had a decent amount of medium brown sand and appeared to be nicely maintained. It was hot in the afternoon, maybe around 103, so if you are here in the summer you will have that to deal with. I had a great time here and will be back.

Played here a week ago with some friends. Actually played twice - we got rained out Thursday afternoon when it poured but we were the only ones who seemed to stop because of it. The course was in pretty good shape. The greens were not as good as last time I played here, a little bumpier and slower, but still pretty good. Otherwise the course conditions were the same, mainly lush, rough was a factor and there was no water in most of the water features. Good customer service and an excellent cafe. The bloody marys were especially excellent.

Fairways are in very good condition and the rough is semi penal. The greens are very soft but never saw any divot damage. The water hazards are still dry due to the drought and the staff are very friendly

Played Sunday, May 24, Memorial Day weekend. Teed off about 8:40 am and played in about 3:50. I walked up as a single. The starter was very pleasant and told me I could go off alone or wait for a group. I hit some balls and joined a threesome of locals. The starter was great in putting me with a group of guys rather than another threesome earlier where the golf-match might not have been as good. He also came out of the clubhouse to show me which group. Great service. The same in the coffee shop which was busy with non-golfers enjoying the food.

The course was pretty green but they said they have been getting quite a bit of rain recently. The DWP, which is the owner, has mandated less or non-watering of off-fairway areas but right now the rough is thick and at times made it difficult to find the ball. It was definitely a factor. The fairways were nice if a little shaggy. The tee boxes were not always level and were also a little shaggy. I was in a couple of sand traps. One was mud rather than sand and the other had decent sand. There are numerous water features on the course. They are almost all dry as the water has been diverted for agricultural purposes. On the bright side, I made par out of the dry lake on 12.

The greens were fantastic. Firm and quick. It rained fairly hard on Saturday night but it did not soften them up much.

Overall, a very enjoyable alternative to fishing.

Played here this morning as I started to make my way back home. I got there early, though I knew from calling in advance they generally don't start play until 6:40. It was just me and two other early bird regulars. They wanted to let those guys go out first per their normal Sunday routine, but I was teeing off on my own soon after around 6:30. Those guys did let me play through after a few holes and then I ran into one couple who started on the back nine later who also let me through, so it was a great solo pace for me on a picture perfect morning. Price was $52 with cart (early bird discount of $10 off normal weekend morning rate). As kg1791 said in his recent review, the course is in good overall shape. Very lush and green, but just too shaggy and slow. You can tell they aerated the fairways and rough recently as they are still a little "dimpled." I was lucky not to find any of those low points where the ball would really settle in. In another week or two, everything will be fully healed and they'll be able to cut back down to a better fairway length. Greens good, but also a tad slow right now. Bunkers seemed okay, but were just super damp and compacted early in the morning. Solid course. Very flat. Front nine is pretty wide open other than a couple significant doglegs. Back nine gets a little more interesting with a creek running through a couple holes and some nice water hazards (though the biggest one was all dried up as Kevin noted). The staff here was very nice and they said it rarely gets busy early on weekends, so it worked out well for me. Except for being right next to the highway, it's a nice setting in the valley. Though I'll admit I got some "magic hour" lighting early in the morning that really helped make the course as pretty as possible. The sun slowly coming up over the east mountains and illuminating the west mountains along with the whole valley really helps this course shine.

Course is in very good shape. Fairways are lush, greens are very soft, and did putt slow. The rough is high and thick and your ball sits down it making it hard to even find you ball. The sand traps are a little hard. the lakes around some of the holes have dried up. I think they have been draining them to keep the course green or the water from the creeks have dried up that flow into the course. Still very enjoyable
