Played the Blacks (72.0/123/6995) with RGM2525 on a 2 person Golf Moose deal in 3H, 40M riding. Teeing off around 8:40, the weather was breezy, sunny and in the 80's. My 1st time here in slightly over 7 years. I see a combination of Olivas Links & Rustic Canyon here. The lack of actual water hazards, low rough close to the fairways and the undulating fairways/greens remind me of Rustic. The wide fairways and huge greens remind me of both Olivas & Rustic. The very penal native rough reminds me of Olivas. The tees were good, mowed close, well maintained. The fairways had good coverage and were mowed tight. Firm and lots of roll, the course played shorter than almost 7000 yards from the blacks IMO. The rough close to the fairway is mowed down close, almost as low as fairways on some courses. However, slightly outside that is the native rough, which is both thick AND deep in many areas. Assuming you even find your ball, advancing the ball even 50 yards out of that stuff was often a challenge. The sand traps were nicely maintained with thick moist sand that was getting fluffier as the round drew to a conclusion. Almost too fluffy on the fairway bunkers, I had a fried egg on a ball that bounced and rolled the final 20-30 yards into the trap? The greens putted nice, firm and medium fast. They are very large & undulating, 3 putts waiting to happen. No water hazards, but IMO, this course's slope/rating are too low. It's long, and while the fairways are wide, it's questionable whether you will even find your ball if you miss the fairway by much here. Customer service was good from all encountered. Had an excellent burger & Arnold Palmer for lunch after the round that was a little on the high end cost wise. Like the layout, would play here more often if it was not almost 4 hours north of my house. Recommended = yes.

Still the same routing, although the fescue in-between the holes isn't as much of a penalty as years ago. Not sure if that is the drought or the time of year I played. I'd still try to avoid it though! Paid $41 to walk on a weekday AM which is probably a bit steep considering the the demographics of the local golfer. But, I guess the course can get away with higher prices because there aren't many good golf options in the Fresno area.

Course was in very nice shape! Greens were quick and none of my putts bounced offline. Not many divots and the course drained well from the rain the night before. The course was on the firmer side and I had to be careful about shots chasing into the bunkers. I had many tight lies so I'd suggest hitting the bump and run around the greens!

Worth a stop if passing through the area as it is a great John Fought design!

All of the previous review still applies as far as great design and playability based upon the multiple tees. The course is irrigated with reclaimed water so it is in good shape compared to many valley courses. The greens were back to nearly normal(75%ish), I had also played a week before and they were still sandy.

Very unique design for the area. Heathland style is the label given by the designer.

Rolling fairways (wide if you play the correct tees), massive greens (often difficult to see just how big from the approach), penal bunkers (deep even in the fairways), and multiple tee options (5k-7k+ yards), all make this course challenging/fun for every level.

The native areas are ball eaters. The added time from lost ball searches, even on shots that barely roll into the edges of the long grasses, is one of the few negatives. No one likes lost balls and very few people ever limit their searches to 5 minutes or play stroke and distance once giving up the search. Thin out the areas, stop watering, make them lateral hazards, any or all of the above will increase pace of play and enjoyment.

Overall -Excellent design and facilities, highly recommend at least one visit to see for yourself.

Pace - About 445 for us. We played on Monday so there was a crowd for the holiday, often the pace suffers due to the aforementioned plethora of lost balls possible.

Course conditions - Winter conditions are disappearing, but not gone completely, nothing in poor shape and greens were very good.

Staff - Friendly and helpful from the starter to the grill to the beverage cart.

Value - Off the rack rate is high(always relative) for the region and the location. I have heard many people say that they would return happily if it weren't for the pricing. There are a few ways to play for less, check their website.

Food - Full restaurant offers above average menu.

Facilities - Stylish new buildings, great deck, great practice areas (one of the best in the Valley).

Dinuba may be out of the way, but the course is worth the trip.

I have played this course now a handful of times. I played 27 holes today which was around 90* when we teed off and by the time we finished it was 105*. But I've also played this course in the cold, in the rain and in the wind. So, I've played this great course in all the elements I guess! This course starts out with a Par 5, and with this hole and pretty much a majority of all the Par 4s and 5s, there is fairway bunkers that are in the ideal positions to land in. So, having a straight drive to avoid the fairway bunkers is key, but also if you slice, or hook something left or right, make sure you keep an eye out for it, because the thick grass will eat up any shot, and then the next shot that grass will grab your club and you can hit it an inch, or if you get lucky you can proceed down the fairway. There are some great holes on this course, like the short Par 4 4th is very drivable and the couple of short Par 5s that if you can hit a good drive and position yourself well or happen to catch one of the slopes and have your ball run out another 10-20 yards you can go at some of these greens in 2. Also, the Par 5 15th, it can get stretched out to over 600+ yards from the tips, and is a very tricky Par 5, with trouble nearly every shot. There are two extremely short Par 3s, that can land a couple birdies on the card. The greens have a lot of different breaks to them, but one thing with these greens, which make them some of my favorite in the valley, is they roll true, but have a lot of different breaks in them, and sometimes you will be left with a not so easy double breaking putt. I really like this course, and wish it was not so expensive($50 on weekdays & $75 on weekends), which is one of the more expensive courses in the valley. But the twilight rates aren't that bad. I love warming up here, they have a wide open driving range and wonderful short game area as well! Lastly, this is one course that I love coming out to, because you can always count on finding more balls than you might lose. Today I found 4 misc. balls and 6 ProV's, I guess people who play ProV's don't need to look for there balls if they hit them in the thick stuff!HAHA

Fairways a little thin but the lies where still ok and alot of roll. Rough is about the same as the fairways with a little bit of clumpy grass, outside first cut is heavy thick grass that almost insures a lost ball. Sand traps where very thin and firm underneath. Greens where a little firm and rolled good with medium/fast speed.

The course is in great shape, but not as nice as I recall from last year for time of year.
The fairways are, as always, in great shape. Couldn’t say the same for the tee boxes were there was a lot of unrepaired divots.

Greens are nice and roll fast. There was, however a lot of pitch marks all over the green. None would prevent a good put from going in, but I recalled the greens to be near perfect in the past.

Rough was as penalizing as ever, with a guaranteed lost ball if you found the thick stuff. Only way to find such ball is to step on it. Too punishing for my taste. Talking about punishing, this will punish your hcp as 118 slope from the blues is waaaaay too low. If you can keep it in the fairway you can go low (had my lowest front 9 at 39) but if you stray just a bit you can find yourself with a double or triple. The fact that you can't find your ball makes you take a penalty of stroke and distance.

POP was great, as we were done shy of 4 hours. Never had to wait for more than 1 or 2 min for the group ahead.

on a more frivolous note, we only saw the beverage cart at the 15th. it was close to 90 by then.

All things considered this is a must play if you are in the area.

I have played Ridge Creek a couple times since it opened in 2008 and always look forward to the next time that I can play it, but that really is not a surprise I guess because I love John Fought designs. Most recently, I played here on 08/05/12 from the Black tees at 72.0/123/6995. I have played here from the tips and at ~7500 it is way too much course for me and in fact the 6995 gets close to more than I can handle with some massively long par 5’s and five of the par 4’s exceeding 430 yards. This last time I played, the course played soft while other previous times it played shorter than the yardage due to firm conditions. The course has a links feel to it with high fescue off the fairways, wide rolling fairways, and many bunkers. I love a course that is open off the tee and Ridge Creek offers wide fairways, short rough, and an ability to find wayward shots and make a bogey instead of a lost ball. There is not a whole bunch of strategy required off the tee and I can play driver on almost every hole with #17 really being the only hole where placement is required off the tee. The course is located on a flat treeless piece of property without any homes around and Fought really did a good job to keep my interest throughout the round and the course visually is pleasing because of the links feel and all the bunkers. Plus, on a clear day the nearby foothills are visible. The course maintenance is always top notch and the tee boxes, fairways, and greens were in nice shape. The greens were a bit slower than normal when I played, but still rolled fine. The green complexes have many slopes and the 6th green is one of the most difficult that I have ever putted on as I always end up with a double breaking putt. I think the course could have been a bit better with a reachable par 5 because the long holes do get a bit redundant and the shorter par 5’s normally play into the wind. Fought designs courses with strong closing holes and #18 certainly is one. The pace of play is great and we cruised around in 4 hours on a Sunday afternoon with only a half dozen cars in the parking lot when we finished (and we could have played a lot quicker). The value is good in the afternoon at $43 to ride, but I would avoid the paying the weekend morning fee at $75+ as it is steep especially for such a rural course (25 minutes south of Fresno). One final thing to consider is that I do not think the course is rated properly, I would say the course should have a rating of 73.0 and a slope of 126 or 127. I would highly recommend playing here and it might even be worth a detour on a trip from Southern California to Northern California via CA-99 versus I-5.

Not my favorite course. If you are a good player and hit it straight then you might love it. Great condition but very pricey (for this area). Since I am not a great golfer (14 handicap) this course is just not fun and costs to much. Good players may really love it though.
