Conditions remain steady at Ridge Creek. Fairways are starting to show some weathering from the summer heat in that they are 50/50 green/brown. However, even the brown areas still offer a great platform to hit from. Greens were rolling medium/fast with a bit more pitch marks than the last time but not nearly as many as from a few months ago.

Tee boxes are a solid 8, nice level and lush with very few divots. Rough is always nasty at Ridge Creek. Anything outside the first cut is game over. Same goes for the long grass around the lips of the bunkers. I lost two balls in bunkers today.

POP was ok. Given it was a weekend, I suppose it wasn't too bad. Ridge Creek is all about keeping it in the fairway and out of the bunkers. Do that and you can set a PR. Start going wide even to the point of hitting the fairway and rolling into rough and your score balloons like crazy.

Customer service is great and I always enjoy when I have the time to eat at the restaurant afterwards.

Played 8-24-18 with Alex326 teeing of a little before 8am and finishing in in a little over 3 hours being waved through one group on four and having no one in front of us for the rest of the round. Tee boxes are still in real good shape, just real nice to hit from. Fairways all though not as good as last time I played here, they are still in great shape with great lies. Rough along fairways was 2-3 inches and thick with the ball sitting down a little, out side of fairway rough it is just nasty, long ,thick, and most likely a lost ball. Was in one greenside bunker, unfortunately it had been heavily watered with standing water in it and playing more like mud than sand. Greens were in real good shape rolling medium speed and very soft. There were not as many pitch marks as there were last time I played here so hopefully people are repairing them. Always enjoy playing this course and with the shape it is in right now it is will worth a trip to come and play.

Hooked up with RGM2525 for a great round (sans the first 3 holes) at a Central Valley favorite track. We tee'd off before 8am and the first few holes were wet. As in lift, clean and replace, wet. Apparently Ridge Creek has unlimited access to water which is one of the reasons they are able to keep the course so nice.

Greens were nice and smooth and rolled perfect once they dried out a bit. Gone were the numerous pitch marks form last months review. With all the water on the greens, they were soft and easily held approach shots from all clubs.

Tee boxes were great and the one greenside bunker I was in was decent. Fairway bunkers are more hard packed (wet) dirt with steep walls. The real downside to the bunkers is the long nasty grass on the inside lips. Get caught up in there and it's game over.

Fairways were in nice shape but not as great and awe inspiring as last month. Apparently 60+ days of triple digit temps have taken a bit of toll on them. Still, no real complaints about the conditions of the fairways.

The rough.... stay out of it! First cut was deep and a real challenge. Get beyond that and you might as well save time and just drop another ball. Whereas last time playing Ridge Creek, I only lost one ball all day, I lost 3 in one hole today! Fortunately the game turned around after the 5th hole and I didn't loose any after that.

We had a large group let us play through on the 4th hole and after that we zipped around the course with only a single in front of us.

It was great to get out with my fellow GKers last week! The course was in really good shape! The greens were pretty soft, probably due to the wonderful Valley heat we’ve been getting. But the course as an overall whole, was in very good shape. It’s great that there is a noticeable cut from the fairway to the first cut of fairway to hold wayward shots. The heavy rush, was very lush and very penal. Looking forward to getting out soon!
Best hands down short game area around the valley. Worth the drive out to play this course!!

Played 7-25-18 for $39 including cart teeing off around 12:30 and finishing in about two hours on a fairly empty course than joining some fellow GKers for a second round and playing in about four and a half hours. Tee boxes were in real nice shape mostly level and lush. Fairways were in the best shape I have ever seen them, very lush with minimal roll out but always a great lie. Rough was in very nice shape, about 2 inches longer than fairways and fairly easy to hit from. Get outside the first cut of rough and you are in hoping to find your ball territory. Was in a few bunkers that were a little crusty on top and damp and firm underneath. Greens were in good shape, very soft and rolling medium speed with unfortunately too many poorly repaired pitch marks. Overall the course is in really good shape and well worth playing.

Played with Johnny and the GK crew. Course is as always challenging with many deep bunkers, large greens and brutal native grasses. The course has changed the way it maintains everything. In the past everything was firm and hard. Now it is lush and soft. The bad is that soft greens mean ball marks and soft fairways mean it plays longer. The good is that shots hold on greens with nearly every club and tee balls that are borderline stop in the first cut rather than bound into the deep stuff which reduces the pace killing ball searches. Once the temps are less brutal I am sure the greens will go back to being firm and fast. Always a definite recommendation for this course from me.

Great time Wednesday teeing it up at 3:30pm with GK’ers Alex326, cencalhack, rgm2525 and CenCalGolfer33. Finished in 4 ½ hours. Would have been quicker but we let some singles and a twosome play through.

Golf course was in excellent condition. Fairways a 10 for me. So lush with perfect lies all day. Greens were in great shape although very soft so there were many marks since each shot left a big ball mark and too many golfers decided not to fix theirs. Never bad enough to impact your putting much but hurt to look at the scares on such nice greens. Last time I played the golf course the greens were firm so this was a change. Also they were faster last time but given the forecast is 10 days of 100+ temps, I understand the need to keep them a little longer. Tees super lush in great shape. Rough, oh boy, you don’t was to find the secondary rough, its very long fescue and unless you get lucky your ball is bye-bye lost. The primarily berumada rough was just cut so we got fortunate because with all the heat and humidity I could see it being brutal sticky difficult to hit from under normal circumstances. The bunkers greenside in good shape with quality sand. The fairway bunkers pretty firm which I don’t mind.

I love this golf course. The layout is a blast. Great ball striker grip and rip track. Ample room to find the fairway but spray a shot, any shot, the golf course makes you pay big time with very tough bunkers and as mentioned very difficult rough. The greens are challenging yet fair. Nice, big and undulated. There is not one let down hole. I wish this golf course was not 3+ hours from me but I gladly make a day trip once or twice a year to play it from SoCal. Treat yourself to this gem one day.

Practice facilities are very large and loaded with everything. They even have a some dedicated wedge zones with green complexes. It’s awesome.

Restaurant is excellent with a view of the 9th hole. This was the first time I did not eat there when playing the golf course because we finished so late.

Staff very friendly and professional.

Check out the photos I just posted. We played under a red sun due to the fire near Yosemite - however smoke did not effect the day, it was high in the atmophere.

Highly recommended.

Hooked up with some GK'ers including JohnnyGK himself for a great late afternoon round at Ridge Creek. Because there were 5 of us I will not comment on everyone's wardrobe but will say I was I the official GK outfit with the dark green shirt, socks and matching green and white golf balls. JohnnyGK made sure I didn't get any points deducted by supplying me with the green tees.

Course was in terrific shape with the fairways stealing the show. They were 8.5-9 on the scale and were an absolute pleasure to hit from. Throughout the entire round we were impressed how green and lush the course was. No issues with the tee boxes. Sand traps were ok, some hardpan some with a little bit of fluff to them.

Greens, rolled nice and fast but did have several pitch marks throughout. They still rolled smooth for the most part though.

The course is a true links style track with some deep bunkers (both fairway and greenside) that at times make you pitch out sideways. Ridge Creek has a good mixture of tough holes that you just try to survive along with some shorter ones that offer good scoring opportunities.

The only disappointment was the restaurant closed before we finished.

Ridge Creek is always an enjoyable Central Valley track. What is usually a strong point of the course, the greens are in serious need of attention. Numerous pitch marks on almost every hole. A few holes still had obvious rings from prior pin placements. On one green I was able to count 5 previous hole locations just on the same half of the green as the current pin location. Speed of the greens was lighting fast and pin locations were tough but challenging in a fun sort of way. Fairways were a mix of green and light brown grass but offered decent lies throughout for the most part. Some of the skirt areas around the greens were thin with tight lies making getting up and down a challenge with the fast greens. Sand traps have improved greatly. Once the Achilles heel of Ridge Creek, the green side bunkers are now a plerasure to play out of (if you're into that sort of thing). The fairway bunkers are a different story. the dirt is ok but they have very steep lips to get up and over. It's almost always a guaranteed lob wedge lay up coming out. Tee boxes were a mixed bag. The ones on the par 3's were horrible in that they were full of divots. The par 4 & 5 tee boxes pretty decent. Pace of play was good and actually considering it was a weekend it was borderline excellent. My only complaint was that the restaurant was closed down at 4pm when we finished. Ridge creek is a wonderful facility with a nice pro shop and adjacent restaurant overlooking the ninth green. I always enjoy sticking around for a bite to eat when I have the time (which I did today).
