Played Pebble June 23rd. My Birthday weekend. The big 60. went with my wife, sister and brother in law. The wife and sister not being golfers found plenty of things to do, shopping, horseback riding, sightseeing etc. Since we were staying at Spanish Bay, that ended up being the other course we played. Now to Pebble. It's hard to describe the sheer beauty of the surroundings without being there, but it can definitely be a distraction. The course is in fantastic shape. The Tees, greens and fairways in almost perfect condition. The traps had pure white sand in them, and the rough was cut just enough to make the shots out of them fair. I think the one mistake we made was taking a cart, knowing it was cart path only and walking back and forth across the fairways, instead of walking and taking a caddy. expensive, but worth it.

Got to play Pebble and Spyglass this week, course is as nice as advertised. Course was in perfect condition and views were perfect as expected. Got to play on a rare perfect 70 degree June day without a cloud in the sky. Caddy said that the wind was about average. Recommend anyone who plays here walks and if they don't mind paying a little more get a caddy.

The caddies advice was helpful on a few shots but also will let you know random things like who owns what properties, etc..

Played 6/28 at 11am. Finished in just under 5 hours walking. Don't even think about taking a cart unless you have special needs. The course is SO beautiful you should walk and enjoy it. Since it was my first time, I got a Caddie and I thought it was well worth it. The greens were firm, fast, and very tough to read. I would have 3 putted many holes if it weren't for my Caddie's advice. Both the weather (Sunny, 70s, and calm wind) and the course was perfect. I'm not even going to rate the different elements of the course. Everything from tee to green was just immaculate.

The experience was absolutely amazing. Even though it was a lot of cash to fork out, I would definitely recommend any golfer to save up and play this at least once. There's nothing like it. I'm thinking to treat myself there once every 5 years or so.

You can never get enough of Pebble Beach. The conditions today were top drawer. No matter how many times I have played here, each round has it's own memories. Each hole today was perfect, brilliant sunshine, pristine conditions from tee to green. Perfect golfing weather. Absolutely quite and able to take your time without any distractions or feeling of being rushed. This was one of those golfing days that you can never forget and would never want too. Finished in time to catch the end of the Colonial in the Lodge.

Played on 12/27/2011, 62 degrees at tee time. NCGA special, $395 green fee made it a little easier to 'swallow', but it was still a lot of $$$($520 regular rate). Beautiful day, caddie said it was a '10'. The drought is problem for the area for everyone except golfers. Greens were running at 12 to 12.5 and were impossible to 'read'. I didn't hire a caddie, but my playing partners did, so they gave me some 'reads', but it is impossible to do on your own without playing PB multiple times. I was swinging well, so tee to green, it was ok, just putting was frustrating. Paying the extra $125 for a caddie definitely would have made my score better. You really have to consider that. I can't see amateurs scoring well here as your attention is easily distracted by the scenery. Can't say anything that you don't already know, stay below the hole and out of the rough. Layup on #8. After #6, scoring become really hard. Follow your caddies' advice. The group I played with both scored 90 and under because of the caddies. I shot 97 with my own advice (my index is 15).

Try to forget about the price and enjoy the day especially if you have perfect weather. Spyglass is a little easier especially on the wallet, but if you can afford Pebble once every 2 years, go for it! You'll never forget it.

Played Monday 1/9. Absolutely incredible weather - it felt like the mid-70s. The caddy and starter said it was the best weather day in the last year. The course was in great condition. Level tees, immaculate fairways, consistent rough and sand, and true greens. I was surprised how small the greens generally were. The staff was great. They even had a person at the 10th tee to shuttle players the short distance to the halfway house/restroom. The scenery is without equal. The whales were spouting all day including about ten going off at once as we were standing on the 18th tee. It was a fantastic bucket list experience.

Played 12/9 on a dry but cool day (55 deg). Having played here previously, I felt much more comfortable with the layout. Course is challenging but very playable which I can't say the same for Spanish Bay. Views are great and variety of holes make this course what it is. It can be enjoyed by ladies and long ball hitters. Green fee is ridiculous but if you're a true fan of golf, save few dollars every week into a piggie bank and by end of the year, you'll have enough to play it once. If you're not a expert greens reader, take a caddie as they'll save your frustration on the greens. Poa has grains and that can effect your speed and breaks that people who play non-grainy greens just cannot fathom. How certain putts seem really slow while others are fast as heck even though they look pretty much same. Every time I play here, I walk away wanting to play it again and again. To me, that is determining factor on how great the course is. Even after playing, you want to play it over again. Some courses, after your round is over, you don't feel like playing it again for many months later. Can't wait to go back next year.

Everything everyone says about PB is true. History, conditions (sometimes), view ... all are stellar. That said, it may be a while before I play here again. It's just that the high price does not justify another round here, to put it simply. Weather can be iffy, if you have an opening in your group you never know who you'll get paired with (marginal golfers completing their 'bucket list'), and a view you can get for free. Gotta play it once or twice for sure, but after that is up to you.

So, last week: punched greens with no discount, foggy weather, played with a guy who hit a second ball everytime he shanked one (every other hole), construction crews all over, wet/heavy sand in the bunkers ... just not worth the $$$.

What can you say about this wonderful course, that has not already been said? I guess I would say, that I hope everyone who plays golf, has the chance once in their life to play here. This was my firs... Continue »

What can you say about this wonderful course, that has not already been said? I guess I would say, that I hope everyone who plays golf, has the chance once in their life to play here. This was my first time back here in many years. Years ago before PB became so popular and the prices were reasonable (yeah they once were) we use to play here quite often. Just a fabulous place to play golf at. It truly is one of those places that you need to put on your list of places to play. Everything is perfect with the world when you are out on this course, in my opinion.
