This is my second time playing Pebble. I played in January and somehow managed to shoot a very respectable score (for me) managing 7 pars but no birdies. Going into this round I pre-focused on wanting to better my score which was a big mistake. This is a course you need to just relax and enjoy. If the score comes then so be it.

The course plays a lot harder than the yardage suggests. Greens are small and fast. Make that very fast on downhill putts. I had a 15 footer that I hit like a one foot tap in and the ball ran 12-15' past the hole!!

If you're coming into the peninsula for a golf trip head out to nearby Bayonet/Blackhorse for some putting practice. The greens there are just as fast and challanging and will help get you used to the greens at Pebble.

Course conditions were great as expected for a top notch course. I will say that the sand in the bunkers was average with a few of them being a little thin. I was in 8 bunkers during the round (it was one of those days) so I got to test a lot of them.

My caddie and I weren't on the same page all day which began to frustrate me. Whereas my first time here, my caddy Matt treated every putt like it was the one needed to win the AT&T PB Pro-Am and every shot was treated like I was trying to qualify for the Open. This time, my caddie was more interested in talking surfing to us or walked off down the fairway ahead of us before we teed off. Not quite the service I expect and have had in the past. The caddy at Spanish Bay was absolutely a delight and that was when I had my worst round of the year

Overall it was still an absolutely wonderful day at an absolutely spectacular golf course. I didn't have as many pars, but I did get my birdie!

I'll definitely go back again!

No GPS in carts. Yardage books available for purchase. For 1st timer, definitely suggest to get a caddie. Cart paths only as usual. As they always joke, if you want to walk Pebble beach, get a golf cart!

As we got to the first tee, we were given the lay of the land, pin placement, pace of play, etc. and off we go. Greens in good condition despite being having minor maintenance done a week prior to our play. Except for being a little bit slower than i can remember, it was hardly noticeable. Also, listen to your caddie. Dont trust your eyes on the putting surface as what looks like an uphill putt could very well run past the holes and then some.

Fairways lush and very green all through out the course and definitely much better condition compared to Spanish Bay.

Bunkers are well stocked and depending on which one you enter, it might be an ordeal to get out. Some of the bunkers even have steps just to get in and out.

Pace of play was affected by group in front as we were waiting on every hole. Finished in a little over 4:30 which is what is acceptable for PB. No bev cart seen and there was a snack bar on the 10th hole.

As you complete your round walking the 18th hole, you can picture in your mind the different settings you have seen on history books and the golf channel. And with your family waiting at the 18th green... it was quite an experience. Fun and memorable day at PB and definitely will be planning for a return trip.

Played 6/29, called the day before, open tee time for a 2 some at 210 pm. Drove up there the day before with a buddy of mine. It was his BDay, and he was going to pay for the green fees ($495 x 2 + caddie fee and tip) that was a smooth $1250, ouch!!! Pulled into the lodge (2 hours early), parked car walked down to the practice putting green and boom, greens had been punched (tiny holes) and top dressed, talk about a buzz kill!!! As the old saying goes "should have been here yesterday." Discount at Pebble, fat chance, still played the course, gold tees 6400 and some change. Weather 58-60 degrees with a 10-15 mph wind, damn it was cold + the course plays way longer than the yardage. The mystic is defiantly there, from US Opens to PGA tourneys. Overall course condition was great, greens where a big letdown, you had to wipe away the top dress on your line before you putted to get a clean roll, punched holes really didn't effect the putts to much. Tees great, fairways great, considering how much play this place gets. I hit 13/14 fairways & 7/18 greens. Caddie was a huge help, from picking aiming spots off the tees, carry distance and putting lines. Would love to play there again with better weather and greens. Check this course off the bucket list.

Played April 18. Everything you have heard about Pebble is true. It is golf heaven. An unforgettable experience. Conditions were perfect. Loved the poa greens. Like most have said, you must get a caddie. They know these greens, saved me countless strokes. For instance... Number 3, my approach landed pin high. As we were walking to the green it looked like a ski slope. I thought the break was going to be at least 2 feet. My caddie David said " Nope, that putt will almost be straight, aim here, half a cup out". I listened to him and while I didn't make it it was a very easy two putt. The stretch of holes 4-10 are unbeatable and unforgettable. I was so happy that I was playing good that day and made one birdie and a boatload of pars BUT....Even if I had hit it all over the place it still would have been incredible. Here's a tip. There is a Pebble Beach outlet on Cannery Row that has great deals on souvenirs and swag. You can spend a ton of money on that stuff. 600.00+ with caddie is a lot of money for one round of golf but trust me it is worth it ( This coming from a guy that normally plays 50.00 or less munis. Another tip. Get there with plenty of time to warm up at the range. It is the best I have ever seen. Hit some chips off the shaved approaches, the greenside rough and the bunkers. I want to go back so bad!

Went to play the shot gun best ball tournament for the first time here. This course is magnificent. It is situated next to the Pacific Ocean. Playing the course is a great experience. Hitting the balls next to the Pacific Ocean is beyond words. The course is in great condition. Fairways are well maintained, bunkers are soft, greens are well kept, fairways are long, and roughs are tall. In order to hit straight, you have to deal with the gutsy wind, mostly from the ocean. Getting out of the roughs is not easy due to the tall grass. Putting is very challenging as well. Most greens are fast and have multi-tier. The putting green outside the pro shop is so smooth and slow. The greens on the course are much faster. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Undoubtedly, you will enjoy playing here. This could be the most memorable golf experience of your life time.

Give it a try.

BTW, after entering the gate to the 17-Mile Road, be sure to take the road on the left not the right. Otherwise, you'll be driving in a circle.

If you're an avid golfer or even a weekend warrior, Pebble is one of those courses on the good ol "Bucket List." After years of talking about it, we played it this past weekend. No, we didn't get a caddie, do yourself a favor and grab a yardage book. Yes the course is challenging, and the greens more so. But somehow, I expected more... Lusher fairways (like you see on TV), fluffier sand in bunkers, etc.

Played 1-28-17. What a great day for golf in Monterey, 65 clear skies and hardly a breath of wind, not bad for a little walk in the park. The course is everything you would expect it to be. Tee boxes level, lush and cut tight. Fairways were in great shape without a blemish. Rough was a little thick and about 2-3 inches and in great shape. Bunkers were close to perfect, just real nice to hit from. Greens were in great shape smooth, semi-soft and rolling true. This course just has great view after great view. I would highly recommend getting a caddy, just makes the day a little more special. If you are going to spend the money go all out.

First the technical aspects of playing Pebble Beach. The course is in fantastic shape tee to green as expected. Greens are small but very manageable. In my opinion they are much easier than Blackhorse & Bayonet down the road. Of course having a caddie give you spot on reads helps. Course is a must walk in my book. That gives you time to enjoy the plentiful views. Speaking of time... It's going to be a 5 hour round. Just accept that. You just paid five bills so why would you want to rush it. Having said that the caddies do a good job keeping players moving along.

The course layout combined with the ocean views is just absolutely surreal. You are right on the waters edge on 6-8 holes and have views of the ocean on another 5-6 holes.

We had no issues with staff. All were professional and polite

If I had one complaint it would be lack of bathrooms.

I'm already making plans to play it again in the summer!

Played on Wednesday the 2nd and the weather was absolutely perfect, no clouds or wind and 68 degrees. The course is in a,lot better shape than last time I played here because of the rains the week before. Greens were in really good shape and ran medium fast. The only disappointment was the fairways had been sanded, so there was no roll. We played lift clean and place because the ball would be covered in sand. Had the wise off your club after each practice swing. My caddie saved me strokes on the greens, they are very hard to read. Bunkers erected perfect as always. Love the experience of playing here and should expect played at least once. But Spyglass is the far better course. My rating shows a 7 but I would say it's more of a 8-8.5
