A unique track in the Sacramento/Roseville area as it a blend of open holes and target golf.

Customer Service is outstanding; nice touch that they run a cart out to your car upon arrival. Pro shop is well stocked; friendly staff. Nice grass driving range. My only complaint in this area is the tee times at 8 min apart does slow down play on a Saturday.

On course staff was friendly, beer cart up and running. Course conditions- Fairways were in great shape. A few tee boxes chewed up a little but still in good shape overall. Bunkers had decent amount of sand, which is rare in the Sacramento area.

This course requires a lot of thinking and planning. Multiple clubs can be played off the tee.
Had a nice time despite pace of play being a little on the slow side.

Played 6/24/2018 early. The course is good condition. Very green edge to edge with the seasonal summer brown under the oak trees where you don't want to play from but can find it in contrast to spring/winter growing seasons where it's too thick and lush.
Played all 18 with the same Pro V which is unusual for me, and helped my score of course.

Wet conditions from overnight watering. Needed to hit the greens with apporaches and they held versus running the approach on. Greens in good to great shape not overly fast. The recent tree loss I mentioned in previous review has helped get more light onto some tee boxes to help grass coverage. For example white/blue tee on 11. GPS on cart is a big help and easy to use.

All staff was great from getting a cart to your car on arrival to pro shop and restaurant.

I'd say give Turkey Creek a try you'll like it.

Seems the wind came through and knocked a few large trees down all around the course. on the edges of some holes not in play but definitely a chore for the crew to clean up. The ones on the south side of 15 most noticeable.
Course should come around and be fine with better weather and the greens heal.
Keep it in mind when in the NE Sacramento area.

Played 2/18/18 Following a single second out as a double (3.0 hr round) 6:35am just light enough to see. warmer than expected 50 degree start 56 finish partly cloudy breezy 10-15 mph. The signature namesake of the course (turkeys) rousing out of the trees to the fairway on the first hole and abundant around the course during round.

Being the dry winter the superintendent can control the water requirements so good conditions with roll out on drives and greens holding decently. Grass in winter dormancy so brown and green in fairways, rough tee boxes. Good conditions that will get better when dormant grass activates. Bunkers good the two I found.
Overall you could play it down and get good lies 95% of time. Greens were not mowed but med/fast with enough dew to just see the Greens keepers tracks and how your approach tracked out. Dry by 13th hole.

Fun fast day and as with Turkey Creek its about the 18th hole. Tough finishing hole with water left and carry over quarry on second shot if you bail right. Got a bogey for a decent 94 (21.6 index)

No houses around the course as it has been since it opened but site prep in progress and visible on some holes now. A course in the valley oaks and fun to play.

Played the course on a hot California weekend and was happy about the shape the course was in. They have done a nice job keeping the course green with the unrelenting heat of our Summer. I had not played here in 3 years and was pleasantly surprised at the condition the course was in.

Check in was quick and easy, I took advantage of their "Round Up" special which gets the that day's round plus rounds at Teal Bend and Empire Ranch (their sister courses) for $99. This was a great deal.

The course continues to be a great challenge which puts a premium on good ballstriking. Miss the fairways and you are our hunting for your ball with the wild turkeys, squirrels, and other animals.

The course was in great shape, although the greens were a little slow. They are scheduled for aerification at the end of the month, so I am guessing this would be the reason.

Pace of play was a little slow, but it was prime time - Sat. morning.

Overall, I was happy with the experience and will return if the price is competitive.

I think the biggest compliment I can pay any golf course is to have played one of the worst rounds one can remember and still walk off the course and say that you enjoyed it? I have always liked this course, it just seems to "fit my eye" The course has many really visually appealing holes. If this course were in So Cal., I would play it a lot.

As for condition - not great, but certainly not horrible. Even with the drought, fairways still had grass, however the rough was rather sparse, at best. The greens did not roll very true, but considering how crappy I played, didn't make a whole lot of difference.

Those who are familiar with my reviews know I play early and quickly, but after driving up from the OC, (left at 3am) teed off a little after 10am. Took 5 hours to finish, which I am not used too. We were paired with a very nice couple, but golfers they were not. I can't blame them for my poor play, because I truly sucked today, shooting the highest round in maybe 10+ years, but the pace of the play and visuals of my playing partners certainly didn't help. Even so, had a great time, and looking forward to a return visit to redeem myself.

Played an early morning Sat. round in January. Was seriously disappointed with the condition that the fairways, tee boxes, and sand traps were in. The several other times I have played the course I was happy with conditions, which were in Spring and Summer.

Many of the bunkers were under repair. Grass was all dormant and yellow. Tee boxes were muddy and uneven. Only saving grace was the fact that greens were in good shape.

I'll try again in the Spring or Summer-- maybe...

Played here with a few buddies and we all agree'd it's too bad we don't live nearer to play this more often. This is a fun course. The condition was even better then expected for a municipal course. The only complaint I had was uneven tee boxes which weren't too bad.

It's a track you need to think. The holes are all doglegs and many blind. The tee shot is key here, you need to be in the right spot. No two holes look alike. I used driver,3wood,2 iron,3 iron, 4 iron off the tee's which to me is fun compared to driver/3wood courses. The fairways where all in good condition.

The greens are great, soft/receptive and roll smooth. Not slow and not extremely fast. If I wasn't 2 hours away from this course, it could easily be my most played.

Played Turkey Sunday 6/30 and it was smokin hot outside. Triple digits! Overall the course was in really good shape. Fairways we lush and the greens were mostly soft. The only draw back I could see on the course was the bunkers, Because of the heat they gave the course plenty of water and it showed in the bunkers. All the bunkers I saw were saturated and a few had some standing water. They were playable just thick wet sand (not that I was in the bunkers of course ;-). Let me also say in this kind of heat it's a great course to play - plenty of trees and shade. They layout is fun as it winds through the woods and no houses on the course. There are a few holes that have a bit of elevation change and two signature holes (if that's possible). #3 is a short par 3 with an elevated teebox that requires you to carry water all the way. It's facing right back at the club house and the putting green so everyone can see. #18 is a little quirky par 4. Kind of an S shape. It's not a depending on the tees your playing it's probably not a driver hole. straight out the fairway ends at a severe drop off before turning to the left and then back to the right. There's water left and long off the tee and then water shor t and right on the approach. It's a fun hole, but I could also see how some may not like the design. The do have a nice range with matts and grass tees. up the hill behind the range is a practice green for chipping an bunker practice. All in all, I would recommend it. Fun layout and good conditions.
