First round of 2024 delayed a few days by a cold front. Waited until it was calm and low 50's.

The Canyon course remains in excellent condition, near immaculate in many areas. Something that is odd to me is that when it gets colder is when the Bermuda greens speed up the most? We are back to the "oh, that was a nice lag putt... hold on... stop... crap , 8' coming back" stage. Greens are firm and putt very nice.

Fairways firming up and getting a decent amount of roll again after being soft for nearly 2 months after the overseeding.

Great staff, nice GC restaurant and snack shop on site. No drink cart and this is perhaps the most unwalkable course I have ever seen because it is so spread out. Recommended.

Played in 3.5H twilight. The last 7 holes took longer than the first 11 when I caught stacked up 4somes or this could have been a really quick round.

Course in great shape, although a recent frost has left numerous yellow spots on many fairways that does not look nearly as good as the wall to wall Emerald green of a few weeks ago. Still plays nice. As Rich stated, the fairways are not currently playing firm and fast with abundant watering for the over seeding. So you not only get mud balls, but huge difference in a drive stopping where it landed and the usual 50 yards of roll out.

Greens firm and medium fast. Rarely a completely straight putt here outside of about 3'. Lots of undulations that can start a ball moving in one direction, then cruelly taking it back the other way as it slows and nears many pin positions.

Fun Fazio layout. Nice restaurant onsite. Customer Service usually exceptional here. With many snowbirds staying @ Loews Hotel or the Lodge in high season, they make POP an emphasis. And considering how spread out the layouts are and the amount of trouble wayward shots can encounter... it usually moves pretty well. Highly recommended.

Played with Captrichs 12/14 mid day. POP around 4.5H, weather very pleasant. Very nice to meet Rich and his wife Patty. Fun group, we got matched up with another excellent guy to play with, Sean from Oregon.

Course looking good all around. Lush and playing long as they are still watering the over seeded areas generously. So your ball sometimes stops when you are expecting a big bounce and roll out.

Greens firm and getting quick again. Some of the best Bermuda greens I have ever putted on.

Fazio design with lots of trouble lurking outside the grass. However, for the most part, fairways generous in size. Customer service good, had breakfast beforehand. Good food at decent prices. Recommended.

The Mountain course gets more play than Canyon. However, POP still moving well. Weather conditions have been mild.

Playing conditions are about as good as I have ever seen them here. Near immaculate. The overseeding took better this season than last, very few outlying areas that need attention.

Probably the best 36 hole facility to play right between Phoenix and the Mexican border.

Have played this course several times lately because it remains surprisingly less than packed considering how mild the weather has been. I saw one other 2some on the entire front 9 playing twilight on a Sunday?

Rode the Greens (6537/71.3/137) several times since my last review. POP around 4H consistently.

Tees lush/level. Well maintained, near immaculate.

Fairways lush. Course plays long with the overseeded grass still maintained higher and watered more than when the overseed fully takes hold and they let the fairways firm up. Same exact drive that may currently leave me a 6I-7I 2nd shot into a green will be more like a 9I-PW in a month.

Bermuda rough is mixed with over seeded Rye. Lush, thick and often penal.

Greenside sand traps nicely maintained with plenty of thick, soft white sand. Fairway bunkers firmer and not as well maintained.

Large Bermuda greens are firm with few ball marks. Smooth and they are rolling quick again.
Numerous greens run away from the golfer, which creates challenges when they speed them up. Nice GPS on the carts.

On course services usually on weekends only. Snack shop available @ the turn and a nice restaurant onsite. More holes play downhill than uphill on this Fazio layout that is tough but still fun to play. Only two holes with water but native hazard areas on both sides of most holes make this a penal course if you stray. You can have almost no forced carries or forces carries on every hole on your tee shots, depending on tee selection. Excellent all grass practice area that includes multiple chipping and putting greens. Friendly customer service always present here. Recommended.

Rode the Greens (6537/71.1/135) a couple of times since my last review. POP has averaged slightly less than 4H. The consistent mid 80 days and 60ish nights seem to have been perfect for the over seeding, which is nice and lush.

Tees, Fairways and rough all mostly lush and close to immaculate. Course plays longer until the fairways are cut down and become former when they are not watering alot for the overseeding.

Sand here is plentiful, thick and deep around the greens. Hardpacked on the fairway traps. Almost always maintained well daily by the maintenance crew.

Large Bermuda greens are firm and smooth. Medium fast and they do not usually hold well due to their firmness.

Fun to play Fazio layout that constantly goes up/down rolling hills. Spread out layout, so you rarely see walkers here. Nice restaurant on site with a good selection @ reasonable golf course prices. Excellent all grass practice area which includes range balls and multiple chipping/putting greens. Carts have all the GPS features one would expect. Customer service always good at this facility. Usually no drink cart on weekdays, snack shop @ the turn is available. Recommended.

Rode the Greens (6537/71.1/135) with Gary00 and his son-in-law Grant. Great to see and be able to play with Gary again. POP was 4H, 10M, which is misleading. Marshall came out and told us we needed to speed up on the front because the group behind us complained. Front took 2H, 20M. What they did not know was that we were waiting on almost every tee because of the Super Sr. 4some in front of us that were struggling with the CPO status after overseeding. We jumped that group @ the turn and finished the back in 1H, 50M. 30M quicker on the tougher of the 2 nines? Hope the group who complained about slow play enjoyed their back 9 directly behind that 4some?

Fairways being watered heavily because of the recent overseeding and not yet firm. Plays LONG w/o the normal amount of roll out.

Rough is now thick, nicely maintained and becoming punitive even though maintained fairly low.

Rode the Greens (6537/71.1/135) in around 4.5 H twilight with 2 nice vacationers. 85, clear and just a little breezy made for very comfortable playing conditions. The front 9 just reopened recently after being closed all summer to renovate the sprinkler system. Currently very lush/green after overseeding completed.

Tees mostly lush and level but with unfixed divots on the par 3's already.

Fairways firm. and lush. Not yet cut tight to produce lots of rolls.

Rough is now a good combination of overseed vertical grass mixed with horizontal Bermuda.
