The overall beauty and country club feel of this property causes me to always look forward to playing here and it always delivers a great experience. This round was no exception as I played with NickEsquire1 at 3:36 at a twilight rate of $33. Even though the tees and fairways were not their usual perfection, they were close and the greens rolled smooth and medium fast and the sand was light and fluffy. Most of the expansive aprons abutting the greens are shaved very close allowing, indeed almost requiring, the use of the putter from extended distances which tests your ability to read the greens over longer distances. The staff is always friendly and the bar and restaurant fare is great.

I played in a scramble tourney here in just under 5 hours from the whites which are only 5921 but 69.8/136. Tips are 6839 and 74.5/147. This 36 hole layout has hosted national amateur and LPGA events using some holes from this public Ghost Creek side and the private Witch Hollow side also.

The course was in good to great condition and the only negatives were many soft fairway conditions making stance adjustments necessary and unpredictable bump and run shots and a high number of divots on some tee boxes. This has never been a great wet weather track and several days of rain prior brought out this weakness.

I enjoy the challenge of the course but the price (up to $125/18 WR) makes other options nearby much more palatable.

Played in a scramble format tourney at 9 AM on 6/19 in under 4 hours. I like this course a lot as it is fairly open (not a lot of trees) with wide landing areas but strategic water and sand and knee high and taller rough off some fairways if you miss badly.

Overall the course is in good condition but not to the level of the better public courses in the Portland area. The greens are the best kept part as they rolled smoothly and medium fast. The fairways were mostly lush with a few bare spots near the edges and the tees had some bare spots and plenty of divot damage.

I didn't have much interaction with the staff this day but in the past they have been very friendly and professional. There is a nice grass driving range and practice area.

This is primarily a ski resort that is 1 hour from my home and only 20 minutes further to the permanent glacier on Mount Hood where one can ski the year around. At about 4,000 feet in the foothills of the Cascades, the surrounding mountains and forest make for a spectacular setting for 3 different nines. My wife (who doesn't golf) and I drove up on a Friday afternoon and stayed at a condo on the course.

Saturday I played 2 of the nines with another single with sunny skies and temperatures in the mid 70's. Thistle is a par 34 at only 2786 from the blues with 1 par 5 and 3 par 3's. Pine Cone is a par 36 at 3173 from blues with a combined 69.0/119. Fox Glove, which I didn't play this trip, is a par 36 that winds much more through the forest.

Both courses were in excellent condition from tees to greens and the only thing I can fault was one of the par 5 tee boxes, I can't remember if it was 5 or 6 on Pine Cone, had an artificial surface.

Though not overly challenging, I think this is worth the drive at least once or twice a year as the scenery is magnificent and the restaurants have excellent food.

There are two separate 18 hole courses here that rotate back and forth from "members only" to public. The entire atmosphere feels very much like the private country club that half of the course really is.

I played in a scramble tourney that started at 1:30 PM and most of the round was dry and comfortable but the last 3 holes was a downpour. Until then, the course was in excellent condition. The tees, fairways, traps, rough and greens are very well maintained. Lots of trees, water and traps to keep you honest.

Overall a very tough but fair track that I always feel challenged by and look forward to playing again and again.

Played 18 with NICKESQUIRE1 at 6:36 AM on 6/6 at $30 WR. The front nine winds through attractive tree orchards, dense native foliage and protected marshy areas that make many wide shots unfindable. The back nine runs primarily through an upscale housing area where private yards can come into play but not so tight to cause complaints.

I have been playing this course for 20 years and it was in the best condition I have ever seen it. Every aspect of the course was lush and dialed to perfection. The tee boxes had a few recent divots but most were filled. The fairways were lush and cut short, rough was neat and first cut no more than an inch or two. Beyond the cut rough, native vegetation could be knee high.

The greens were the star of the show! Firm and fast (rolling 10.5 to 11 per the pro shop) putts rolled true but many breaks were very subtle and hard to read in the morning dew and glare. Missing a downhill putt brought a long comebacker.

Overall, a challenging, attractive, beautifully maintained course that puts it in the top 3 or 4 courses in the Portland area.

Walked 18 today with NickEsquire in beautiful sunshine in just over 4 hours for only $22. The course is pretty well groomed despite getting a lot of play especially since the weather has improved over the last few weeks. The fairways are cut quite short and the drives are rolling out nicely. The greens are smooth and relatively fast. The staff was friendly which is sometimes questionable here. I can recommend this course as challenging and a good value.

Played 27 holes yesterday in perfect weather. The greens had been plugged and sanded 10 days ago and were still a bit bumpy and rolling 8 on the stimp. The fairways are in decent condition considering the lack of rain for the last 2 months. The rough has some thin and bare areas. Some tee boxes are thin in spots. Despite these minor issues, this is a good value at $30 for 18 with cart and a $10 replay for 9 more.

Played 18 late afternoon with NickEsquire1. The course was immaculate and pace of play was good at just over 4 hours. The entire course is so well maintained and beautifully planted with decorative flowers and bushes that it reminds me more of a private country club than a public course. There are no gimmicky holes and with 4 tee choices, it has plenty of challenge for all skill levels.

Great practice facilities, a welcoming staff, reasonable fees and an excellent restaurant/bar area with big screen tv's make this one of my top 3 courses in the Portland area.

Played here yesterday with Nickesquire1. Hadn't been here in 10 years. This is an older course in a beautiful suburban setting with lots of trees and doglegs which makes you have to shape many shots. That part I really enjoyed. The extended dry weather has caused the rough areas to dry out and be quite thin in most areas causing challenging shots from tight lies. The greens were medium fast and rolled true though bumpy occasionally. Overall, for the price it is an okay value and worth the occasional visit.

This was not my first choice today but my favorites all had tourneys. Although set in a beautiful rolling wooded area, the recent drought has had an impact on some areas. I encountered a few thin and underwatered fairway and rough areas. The tees had many divot damaged areas. The greens were rock hard and and rolling about 11-12 and had some minor bumpiness in areas.

The course is shorter and not particularly difficult but putting on some green locations was penal. That said, at $32 WR for 18, it was an ok value.

A 27 hole executive course that winds through a dense variety of single homes and condos and as a result, there are ob's in play on nearly every hole. There are few opportunities for the long hitter to play driver as there are no par 5's, shorter par 4's and longer par 3's that are quite challenging. Large trees, water and sand also dot the course.

Overall the course is in good condition and fairly lush despite recent drought conditions. The greens are smooth and medium speed. Some tee boxes have some divot damage and a few fairway areas were thin or overwatered. The sand that I played from was good.

So this is a good shorter club practice type environment or for someone with limited time to play but not a typical full golf experience.
