For a public course that gets a ton of play and with the recent drought conditions, the course is still very playable despite a few thin spots on fairways and rough. A few fairways areas were overwatered and balls plugged as a result but it was rare. The rough after the first cut is long and wiry.

The greens were the best part of the course though 1 or 2 had bare spots on the edges. They were mostly smooth although I repaired more than several ball marks on just about every green. The greens are quite large and undulating and the breaks ranged from very subtle to quite severe.

There is a large grass driving range, chipping and putting areas and even a second 18 hole course on site. There is a large bar/eating area but with limited food options. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

In my view, this is definitely a top ten value in the Portland area.

This is one is my favorite courses in the Portland area but even more so after today as I got my first ever HOLE IN ONE on #3, a 173 yd par 3 from the blues witnessed by Nickesquire1.

9:50 tee time and played in 4 1/2 hrs for $44 WR Farm Card Holder rate. The course is in great condition and shows pride in every phase of the operation.

In many respects this feels like a links type course. Closely cut puttable areas are around most greens. Many fairways have raised borders allowing shots to funnel back to the flat parts. The 2nd cut of rough is long and wild and is the major defense of this course. Although most holes are straight, well placed bunkers and a few water hazards make this is a very interesting and challenging track.

A shorter par 70 course with only 1 par 5 per side. Most holes are straight ahead with just a couple of exceptions. One quirky par 3 is just over 100 yards but is easily 70 feet straight uphill. The manager recommended adding 3 clubs to that shot. An assortment of wide open and narrow fairways with a fair amount of sand and water hazards.

The condition could be better as there were bare and thin spots on fairways and tees but they didn't affect play generally. Greens were quite undulating but smooth. The speed was uneven making putting unpredictable. Sand was good.

There is a grass driving range and practice area, the club house is brand new and has a restaurant (closed on Mondays) but the pro shop is quite spare.

Overall a fun course if you are in the area.

I have played here a few times and the greens were in the best condition I have seen them ever. They rolled true and medium fast with minimal ball marks. The long stretch of dry hot weather has caused some bare spots on the edges of the fairways. The tees were generally in good condition with some divot damage in spots. The sand traps played well.

Many holes have elevation changes, are tree lined and have strategic traps and water. The course features attractive views of the surrounding hills and forested areas and is a good value on a Sunday for $41 with cart.

Reasonably well maintained public course that gets a lot of play and it shows. Plenty of divots on tee boxes and fairways. Greens have a fair amount of ball marks. It was over watered and had some spongy areas that inhibited roll out.

Despite the conditions, the course is well designed and extremely challenging with some tight and some wide open holes, most of which are defended by either trees, water, sand or undulating greens.

There is a good grass driving range and chipping and putting areas. In my view, this is one of the top 5 public courses in the Portland area and I always look forward to playing here.

Big Meadow is interesting, challenging and beautiful all rolled into one spectacular golf experience. The course is perfectly groomed in every aspect. It winds through the scenic Oregon cascades which gives each hole its own character while showing off spectacular views. The greens are smooth firm and fast and a joy to putt on.

The club house has a great pub and the pro shop has a good selection. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.

Combined with a sister course 10 mins away, this is a truly wonder golf destination not to be missed when in Central Oregon.

Recently re-done slightly elevated greens, square-shaped 4 tiered tees and lush rolling fairways makes this a perfect example of a Donald Ross type golf course. If you like the challenges of length (over 7,000 yds), deep well placed perfect sand bunkers and majestic evergreens lining most holes plus the beauty of many visible mountain peaks, you must play this course. It is immaculate in every way but the greens are the star! Large and exceptionally smooth, fast and true they make putting a joy because there are no surprises.

The amenities are top notch as there is a great driving, chipping and putting area as well as a well stocked pro shop and a small cafe.

Combined with a second course only 10 minutes away (Big Meadow), this a truly a wonderful golf destination.

An older, shorter tree-lined track in the northeast area of Portland that feels more suburban as very few buildings are in view during the round.

Because it gets a lot of play, tees and fairways show lots of wear and divots abound. Greens are bumpy in places and medium in speed. The sand traps are actually quite good and there is not much water. The very large old trees and some taller rough make staying in the fairway the safest play.

Not a destination course by any means, it is easy to get to and convenient if in that area. The pro shop offerings are very sparse but the staff is friendly. A huge plus is an excellent restaurant and bar on the premises.

Played a twilight round yesterday with NickEsquire1 and had a great time. The course is in wonderful condition and all phases of the course are top notch. Not a bad thing to say.

The layout winds through wooded areas, hazelnut orchards and an upscale housing development and presents very attractive vistas. A few holes require blind shots to specific distances but this just adds to the courses delightful personality. Occasional water, well placed sand traps and a few narrow fairways are the main defenses and some undulating greens make for an overall challenging outing.

This is one of my favorite courses in the Portland area and I highly recommend it to all.

Not a long course but it is very challenging with plenty of trees, sand, water, doglegs and elevation changes. The view of the neighboring tree filled hills is very attractive. It is in very good condition but one par 4 hole was shortened to only 55 yards while a new fairway is being fashioned. A friend had free frequent player card that applied to all in our foursome for a price of $32 each for 18 holes with cart so it was a very good value.

This course gets alot of play because it is challenging and a good value but it is also very well maintained and is in a very attractive setting. The staff is very friendly and the scheduled tee times were met. The cart girl even brought us cocktails from the bar because she didn't have any onboard. There is also a great view of Mt. Hood. The only negative was that the seed bottles on the carts were empty and there were some unfilled divots on the tees and fairways due to that. You will like this track.

The upkeep of this track is terrific year round however the greens had been aerated 2 weeks ago and were slow by comparison to normal. The rest of the course was lush and in great condition. I play here often so I bought their farm card for $99 which saves up to $20 per round until 12/31/2011. Also saves $ in the pro shop and their very good restaurant where the staff is very friendly.
