played here this morning and really enjoyed the layout.

although you will drive through a bit of the housing to get to some holes,
they don't really come into play unless you are a really out of control driver of the ball.

greens are quick and true. very few marks.
fairways and rough were very well maintained with no areas
i would call bad. if you hit a bad approach and are way offline,
the rough grass might not be as lush as it is closer to the green.

sand was proper. only went in one of them but it played
well for my tastes in sand - good base with a soft top.

played from blues - tee boxes were mostly flat but a couple of lumpy
ones.

tees and greens are hand mowed - good stuff.

maintanence crew works hard and stops for you to play.
staff from cart dude to starter were all helpful

$47 to walk - $60 with cart.
and definitely worth it.

oh i forgot to add that the bunkers are hardened sand and as extreme as hard and wet in areas. you're better off going with a pitch shot rather than a blast or you'll bounce right off the hard sand and skull it.

the greens were all bumpy. i had to tee off outside of the markers on
many holes because the tee boxes for black and blue are lumpy and unlevel.
fairways and rough weren't bad but the fairway height was too high and the rough had areas of mixed grass and some bad grass.

at $35-$40, it would be worth it. but not $58

and yes, it is true that because it's built on the side of a mountain,
and gets a decent amount of play, a fast round here is 5 hours.

it was definitely a one time experience for me

just opened 6 weeks ago. it is a pretty windy spot in the desert. the course is layed out mostly into and with the wind and a few crosswind holes. if the wind is gusting at the practice area, like it was for me, don't get discouraged. it acts and feels different on the course.
the beautiful "valley-like" rolling fairways, cuts the wind off or slows it down by the terrain change. BUT, if you send it high, the wind is still true to form up there.

the layout is really nice. it rolls very nicely with good terrain fluctuation creating nice foreshortening effects and really cool land sculpting. the "valley-like" effect is based on the sides of the fairway
dropping down into the middle.

the greens are overall fair but there are a couple of "doozy" spots.
ex: the 14th - if the pin is back left, like it was for me, you have to sink the put. i rolled it up the hill 12 feet to 3 inches right of the cup and OH YEAH, it rolled right back down to me. after making the putt then for bogey i had a blast watching the ball roll back down over and over.
and just to make it worse, the ball can't even rest above the hole.
so no matter what, you have to sink the putt or you are making the same putt, over and over, until it goes in. and even if you're 30 feet away, it's still gonna roll back down to 12 feet if you just miss it.

as for the really short, drivable par 4's on the back. if you don't drive them, it's a hazard. and if you try to be too safe on 15(266 from the middle tee) you are hitting an approach from the deepest fairway valley on the course.

overall, it's a challenging layout for it's length (4917-women, 5729-frontMEN, 6140-middle, 6715-back). and the green fees were fair.
$70. the service was great and the course was in great shape for a brand new trek.

no clubhouse yet but there's quick food, cart girls, complimentary
water on the cart cooler(also has club and ball washer on the cart),
range balls, towels, tees, GPS.

have a great round. i did.

i felt like i was playing on a PGA Tour conditioned course.
this gem is still very new and like Angeles National, is a Nicklaus Design golf course. it's a breathtaking layout kept in amazing shape with a courteous staff and very affordable green fees. $80 in the palm springs region during the week is a nice price.

you have to get on this course before 7am to have a 4-4:30 hour round
it seems that way for every d%mn course out here though.
wednesday mornings have a mens group until about 7 or 7:30.

this course is great though. conditions are always nice from tee to green.
the layout is spectacular and fairways are tight. some were only 20-30 yards wide. sculpted with landing zones.

i urge anyone who is around a 10-15 handicap to play this course from the blue tees. it will be a nice round.

collard shirt required. to walk during the week is $28

lots of people going out early on this course. took over 5 hours with
a 7:30 tee time. nice rolling terrain (some nice elevation changes) and some tricky, tree-lined doglegs can screw with your score if you're not
careful.

greens - pretty nice
fairways - pretty nice
tees - so, so - definitely some straight up bad tees.
traps - pretty nice.

just played today.
got out at 8:15am and i was done by 12:30pm
any areas on this course that needed work was being worked on. they maintain well here and it is a beautiful combination
of taking a subtlely rolling terrain and sculpting a really nice golf course into it. it does have a few good holes with some great
elevation changes also.

totally worth my $28. with the great shape it was in,
i feel like i got a steal, knowing i pay $22 for an l.a. course.

went out at 7am. totally satisfied with the pace of play. 4:10.
greens were in really good shape. putted smoothly. it appears as though the breaks are not as severe as they looked.
all grass was cut and pretty lush.
definitely a walking course.
not a difficult course, overall but there can be difficult shots if you stray from the fairways; like any course.

i didn't go in any sand traps so i don't really know how they are.
i rated them as good to be fair in the rating survey. but for all i know they could suck!! i was very impressed by the fact that
a municipal course has beautifully kept, sand based greens. and people seem to really respect the "repair ball marks" rule. that's a huge thing on any golf course. the rest of the course lacked good conditioning but it was fine enough to get a shot off. to me
the only element of a course condition that i hope to be above average or excellent is the greens. and they definitely proved to be above average.
