played here yesterday on a very warm day and the course was kinda crowded but the pace of play wasnt to bad im sure we were done faster than 5 hours. We loved the new sand and the grass they put on the fairways last year seems to holding its own in places.
As usual the greens are in good shape and medium speed but the tee boxes really need to be upgraded next. Thou the girl that checked us in was having issues as always the staff and marshalls were very friendly .A highlight for us on this very warm day was the female bartender Darby she is very witty a great hostess and took all our ribbing well even managing a few well placed barbs of her own . Im sure we were a little bit sunstroke and then after the first pitcher of beer it was off to the races anyway another good time on a decent golf course that lets you spray it around and still make pars.

At the request of a good buddy we gave goat hill another chance and I have to say Mr Ashworth has moved mountains to improve this course. Im not sure what he has spent so far but the course is now playable and that couldnt have been easy or cheap. The greens , sand ,tee boxes and yes fairways are in good shape and if you are young strong and looking for a deal this could be your new home . Sadly for us mortals who are eligible for a senior discount this track is to tough to get around and an orthopedist dream. Im not bitter I shouldnt be on torrey south with a pull cart at this time in my life and even thou I was a creditable +7 for the day I felt like I had to hit great shots or risk a heart attack or knee replacement. So leave this one for the young or seriously in shape im going to lawrence welk instead

Played here easter about 10am and we had a really nice time. The greens are large and hilly for an executive course and the traps were in good shape. The tee boxes were average and we thought the layout was good. I dont know if this course is as good as advertises for true beginners as it pretty narrow and has lots of ob. I will play here again but not during the summer ,it really looks like it gets warm here. The price and service were good so I would give it a try if you never have

played old rancho again and its still getting better little by little . fairways, greens and sand were average for a public track but tee boxes still need help. They have friendly marshalls now that seem to do a good job and we enjoy the course it does have a few rough spots but all and all its a fun place to spend a the day

We used to play here often and enjoyed the old home spun feeling of everything from the cafe to the old school driving range and when it reopened this year we wanted to try as soon as the weather cooled off a bit so we gave it a go on sunday. The course was almost empty and the guys in the temporary club house were really nice . the greens were smooth but very slow and as new greens often are very hard ,The tee boxes were also very level but even harder on most holes we gave up in trying to get a peg in the ground . The sand was nice but needs to settle in a bit and as for rough we really didnt see any . The new layout was fun and they must have moved a lot of dirt to get it that way it was pretty easy will be a great place to bring newer players . The highlight of the day for us was the mobile bar girl Megan , What a gem she was we saw her often and she kept us laughing at every stop . She was friendly ,entertaining and made darn good cocktails to boot . It seems her specialty are vodka and diet cokes man the were good and we did have a round or two too many anly because Morgan was such a gem. Anyway the course wasnt cheap and does need to grow in a bit but if your in the area give it a try and if you get the chance order a round of vodka and diet cokes from the cart girl

Played here on a very hot sunday last week and the ocean breezes we were conting on didnt show up at all . still pace was better than five hours and the greens were nice the san traps here need some real work as the sand seems to concrete hard. The girl working the snack bar after the 15 hole was completely lazy and should really be canned but apart from that this track is a good time and a decent test

Ive been playing here more often than usual because of the heat and it seems to be decent right now anyway the layout is challenging almost to a fault. The greens are decent and the traps are consistent .The fairways are soft enough so its pretty fair. Its still expensive but a person can get a players card if your gonna play it 25 times a year its a decent deal . The restaurant is closed far to often for weddings but what are you gonna do . Give this place a try for a quick nine holes its pretty tough and the weathers great

Played here today and the north course is much tougher than it used to be and the staff is much friendlier than they used to be, and very helpful which was a nice surprise. The greens, fairways and tee boxes are really good right now ,the sand and rough were fine but a touch inconsistent . The round is expensive but the views and history around here make it worth it . I'm not sure I will play here again,it's getting a bit long for me but if this was my last time it was one of the best and most fun .thanks to the staff and my playing partners and if you get the chance give it a try

I always wanted to play this cource, the holes from the 8 freeway look really cool. Yesterday I got my chance as I had time towards the end of the day. I cant say I was treated well in the pro shop but I did manage to get off at a rate twice as high as the guy I was paired with but ok beggars cant be choosers . I did find the greens to be fast and the sand was in good shape , the fairways were pretty good but the tee boxes were really bare. The weather was nice and the guy I played with told me a strong breeze blows here most days. The course plays slow and because of the rate guys seem to feel the need to take their time and some of yours . A marshall with some teeth could really speed this place up a bit . I didnt find the course to be real interesting and as stated above didnt find the staff real helpful. I might come here again but only with a coupon I really believe this isnt a course worth 90 bucks mid week but the weather was cooler than anyplace around and with fast smooth greens sometimes thats enough but if your looking for a fast friendly round at a course that will stick out in your memory in my opinion this aint it

If it wasn't for pace of play and poor sand traps this course would be awesome .The greens were slow but perfect and the fairways were like carpet. The staff were really nice as was the scenery . unfortunately some holes are so challenging that groups stack up . These holes are not unfair and were fun to play you just gotta wait your turn and enjoy the views . I would go here again and if your in east San Diego county you really should try it . I don't know why the sand traps were empty but they really do need some attention as they were the courses weakest feature . I used my birthday round here and do want to thank the staff for a wonderful day

We play here once or twice a year and it's showing signs of being in better shape than usual . The new grass is in and looks good and the greens are slow but in good shape . 60 bucks is still to much for this course and the weather in Irvine can be nasty in the summer . the ted boxes and rough here are poor. But if you can't hit it straight you might love this place. I will play here again but with a coupon only

Played here on fathers day with my daughter and couple of friends and it was packed . The course is in better than usual shape for this place and the new landscaping plan to remove some brushy areas seems to have worked out nice the greens are in good shape and the sand is of good quality. The tee boxes are still a bit rough but that's a small thing.
Im considering playing here more often ever thou it kinda expensive for nine holes . The pro shop its well stocked and the outdoor bar and restaurant seem nice
