Played at 10:30 AM this morning. Oak Creek has a a great new offer; "Club 55", for those of us over 55 years of age, (hence the name!) Joined a twosome already on the tee. The course was in REALLY nice shape. The game doesn't normally START on this course until you get to the greens! =0~ I usually average about 36 putts per round and not often any more than that. I had 46 today!! The rough is just that ... ROUGH!!! They have let some of it grow in excess of five inches and in parts it looked like a links course with bent grass growing wildly in spots. Good luck finding your ball in THAT stuff!! It was a beautiful day to play with the temperature hitting near 80 around noon. As always, the staff was on thier toes and looking out for the golfers. Cart service and the guys out front were thier usual best! It is a bit pricey at $110.00, but I HIGHLY recommend this course anytime you can get a round here for $55 or less!!!!

Had my first experience playing this course. I arrived at 9:30AM to a 10:30AM tee time. Plenty of parking to be had on the weekdays. (Not so sure on a busy weekend.) The driving range is across the street and down a bit. Not the MOST convenient spot, but servicable not the less. IMPORTANT NOTE FOR NEWCOMERS - You pay at the clubhouse to use the driving range. The course gets pretty steady business. Considering the greens fees prices, I'm not surprised. The course is pretty straight forward. No big surprises to be had. I knew I had a good day going when I par 3 on the front nine and have a birdie to boot! The greens needed to be mowed, but I understand that there will be aeration of the greens taking place next week. The back nine plays pretty much the same, but a large culvert and water come into play on a few of the holes, making the player weight a lay up, or to go for it. I wasn't so fortunate with my decisions!! If the course remains in it's present condition, I will be happy to return. I think it's a very good value for the dollar spent!

My first time playing this course. I was paired up with a regular who was quite helpful with the course layout from hole to hole. At first glance, the fariways looked to have bare spots, but on further inspection, I saw that they just let the grass fade out into what appears to be bare spots. The surface was actually pretty decent to hit from. The roughes are a B-t-h! Thick and deep. You hit in there, you got your work cut out for you!! The greens are nice but VERY tough. I cant remember the last time I've three putted so many greens!!! I even had two FOUR putts!! I average 2.20 a hole according to our handicap tracker. The cart guys are great; in fact everyone was very nice, as you would expect it to be for the duccets spent! Excellent customer service all around. I wouldn't normally play here AT $110.00 a round, but I got an on line special for $79 with a 10:30 AM tee time. Definitely worth the dollars spent! It's not a REAL challenging course, but I enjoyed the experience and would go back again if I can find another good deal likes today's.

Considering the weather we've had this past week, I was duly impressed. Yes, standing water all over the course. (but SO has EVERY OTHER COURSE from Pebble to Torrey Pines!) That said ... The course is in really nice shape. My partner and I (Buckeye Bob) got a special for $35 with cart AND they tossed in a FREE lunch!! The greens are still in as good, if not better shape, than other courses in our area. It was winter rules all the way, but I feel that the course played very well all things considered. I still feel that this is one of the best values for the dollar spend right now in OC! Especially when you can play a 6400+ yard course for less than $40.00!!!

We got out at 10 AM this morning. The cart guy was on me (in a nice way) the minute I took my clubs out of the car. He offered to take my clubs to a cart and he immediately checked on our tee time, prior to my partners arrival. EVERYONE was VERY nice and helpful there. I was truly impressed by thier customer service!! We were paired up with a couple of locals who had played the course a few times before. Our round took about 5 hours, but it was due more to mine and my partners inability to hit a REALLY nice shot then the course conditions, or slow play. This course is is really nice shape!! The back nine is WAY different from the front nine and I can easily see why so many SO CAL golfers lke to play here. Some of the vistas are picture post card quality!!

After our round we retired to the club house for a beer and the bar tenders were equally as nice as the rest of the staff. I am lookng forward to getting back out and playing this course again!!!

This course is lookin' fine!!! I haven't played this course in a few months and a friend of mine and I decided to give it a shot. (He'd not played the course before.) Wow! I HAVE played here on several occasions and overall thought it a pretty decent value for the dollar spent. We got a 10:00AM tee time for $42.00 WITH cart from Golfnow.com. I was VERY pleasantly surprises to see the course in some the best shape it's ever been in.

Yes, there was a few bare spots. But considering that the course was built back in 1969 on a sealed landfill, (that occasionally leaks a bit of methane gas when it rains and that gas burns the grass in spots), AND considering that the course get a lot of use, I was very pleased to see how nice the course looked! The greens are in SWEET shape dispite tough pin placements and the tee bxes looked good too. I've never seen the course look this good! I WOULD GET IT WHILE YOU CAN FOLKS!!

I was looking for a good value for my dollar spent. I found an on line tee time WITH cart at Shorecliffs. I thought; "Hey. less than $30 with a cart? What a deal!!

I got on easily enough with a twosome who have played the course before. One of their first comments was, "you'll find this course interesting." Boy they weren't kiddin!! The course is NOT for those out there who hook or slice them. This is a shotmakers course. On several of the holes, I felt like I was shooting through an hour glass!! The fairways were in less than optimal shape, to put it mildly. Half the time I was hitting off hard pan on others, the ground was soaked. More than once one of us made a comment about not ground under repair, but ground NEEDING repair!! After a couple of holes, I could see why they give you a riding cart. As you move from one green to the next tee, you have to pass under tunnels that cross under the streets surrounding the course. There is no way on God's planet that you would want to walk through these things. Wet and/or muddy and always an "adventure unto themseleves" I felt like I was on a ride at an amusement park and not on a golf course.

The ONE saving grace for this course is their greens. They are nice. Not too difficult to read and in pretty darn nice condition. Would I go back? Probably not.

The course DID give me an appreciation for a few other courses I've played that I thought were in bad shape!

I got a chance to play this course last week (Nov 20.) It's tucked back off Pacific Coast Hwy and unless you have an idea as to where you're going, it could be an experience just finding the course. The facilities and buildings are very nicely groomed and the pro shop is inviting. They've got a big screen in the pro shop with the Golf Channel continually running and a small but nice selection of apparel and gear. There's a nice place to eat right next door.

It was a bit foggy in Laguna Beach the day we played which made the course juuuust a bit more interesting than it might have been otherwise. That said, The tee boxes are set up well to suit a variety of handicaps with the blue tees pushed back and the white and red proportionally easier. I was out with a friend as a twosome, on a Thursday, at 1 PM in the afternoon. There was little traffic on the course at the time. The starter was very professioanl and I spotted a marshall a few times during our nine hole round. Aliso Creek runs throughout the course and water comes into play on a majority of the nine holes. The slope is 114 and I can understand why. Hitting them anything but straight and you'll find yourself in trouble. The greens can be a bit tricky as they are medium sized and most run on a slope in one direction or another. The holes alternate 4 - 3 - 4 -3 ... from 1st to 9th and there are a several opportunies to hit the driver off the tee. The course is a joy to walk and my friend even commented on how nice the layout was to view. It took us less than two hours for us to knock out nine.

I think it's a hidden gem in Orange County and we are both looking forward to going back to play this track again in the future!

When I need some work on my short game, this is the perfect place to do it! A practice facility and a nine hole course all in a very compact area. Six of the 9 holes on the course are under 100 yards with only 2 over 200. (You could easily play this course with three or four clubs in your bag!) Some of the greens are postage stamp size and it does force you to make an accurate shot from the tees. Overall they keep the course in nice condition. I find it a great way to work on pitches and chips. The ninth hole is 270 yards dog leg left and a creek guards the front of the green. 200 hundred to the creek and a short pitch over the creek and your on the dance floor. That said, I've found a bunch of balls that end up in the creek!! All the greens are very servicable albeit a bit on the slow side and very soft. I like the practice area which has a good sized putting green and chipping area with sand bunkers. The folks in the pro shop are ALWAYS nice and the driving range is passable with both mats and turf to hit from, (especially for an American Golf property.) I like the video set up on the far left tee of the matted driving range. It has a set up where you can plug in a thumb drive, play about $40 and it will record your swing for about 20 minutes (I think.) Pretty cool stuff! The software is free on-line to view your recording and I've heard a few of the guys say they like using it to see where they are with thier swings. I try to get by there about twice a month. You can knock out nine holes easy in an hour and practice other aspects of your game with plenty of time to get home for dinner!

I played the course last Sunday, August 10. 8:30 AM tee time. The course was not crowded and we got picked up by the cart guys right at our car. The starter was cordial and informative abiut the conditions fo the course. They had just reopened a week prior as they were refinishing the cart paths. The course looked great. Clean and ell kept. No real issues even though we had a slow gorup in front of us. The course is located in the the middle of a very nice senior living neighborhood and they attract the locals in the area. That said, we had no issues on the course and didn't get backed up until the 17th hole. Course ambassadors were evident throughout the course and water and restrooms were available on several holes. The course palyed at a relaxed pace and I didn't find myself "stretching" to imagine a shot to be made. The course plays wide open but the greens have a few challanges to them. I'd play this course again in a heartbeat and can't wait to get back to Vegas to play it again! I highly recommend it to anyone not lookng for a long, grueling, 5 hour day in the heat!!

THIS IS ONE TOUGH COURSE!! First, tough to find. I would NEVER have found it by myself without MapQuest. It's stuck in the middle of some neighborhood and without my nephew's knowing where it was, I'd have been lost. Water comes in to play on sevral holes and is located in places that make club selection "interesting." The greens were hard yet too d%mn slow. I've putted faster on shag carpeting!! The sand bunkers have rocks in them. Yes, I said ROCKS!! It was like hitting out of concrete the sand was so hard. Nice layout, great service from the cart girls, starter (gave us some free range balls to hit!!), and pro shop. We had a cooler stocked with water provided by the course and the cart guys were great too. If I had to do it over again, I'd prefer an easier course, but if I was looking to totally challenge my game, this woulld be the place to do it!

The starter is NOT the most charming of fellows and is slow and deliberate in his demeanor. For an American Golf Corp. course, it's one of the better one's in Orange County. The fairways are pretty much wide open, and the traps well placed along the course. Water doesn't come into play much, but there are a few draining ditches that can make play "interesting." The greens are tricky and not an easy read. The course looks to be drying out a bit and could stand more water then it's getting. Ball divots on the greens were too often poorly repaired, or not even touched. (I blame this on the players more than the course managers!!) We teed off at about 11 AM and didn't have any problems with groups ahead or behind us. Zero wait on any tee box until the 17th hole. This is still a fun course to play and I will be back. I just hope that American gets the course in a little better shape.
