This is a nice little course. The greens are tough to read at times since you need to account for some ocean break in them. But they can be slow, so it makes it difficult to figure how much to add. It's a good layout, with some short par 5's reachable in 2. I played yesterday with a 13 yr/old that played great! He shot 74! Unfortunately, I didn't play as well. We walked on around 12:30 and was on the course by 1. But it was a typical So Cal round of 5 hours, which can effect your game. The back nine has some of the harder holes but is fun. Overall, this is a good course and I recomend it to all.

This is a great layout. Accuracy is a must on most holes. Driver isn't required or recommended on many. The course is all about setting up the next shot, especially to the greens. The greens are tough with some severe slopes and tricky pin placements. They can be tough to hold since they are firm also. VERY quick. Water doesn't come into play much, but it's there to give that little bit of unsettling feeling. The bunkers could be better...some were nice, others a little thin (I was in too many this first round). Overall length is short, but it makes up for it on the greens (and getting there). I played Sat. @ 4 and finished 18 holes just before darkness. Great deal for $34 super twilight! I'll be back for sure.

I've played only the front nine recently, but it is in great shape! The fairways are lush and carpet-like. The greens are good shape, but a little slow and bumpy when I play later in the day. The rough is thick and tough. Rent a cart if you can't handle heavy walking since the course is played on the side of the hill. Some holes play an extra 50+yds longer or shorted due to the elevation changes. There are blinds shots to greens and some great undulations. All and all I see why this course has been so highly rated.

Despite being aerated this past week, the greens were in good shape, running a little slower and softer than normal. These greens are tough with a lot of undulation. It makes up for the shortness of the course. I played 36 holes on Friday and each round was just around 4 hours. This is a great place to work the game. It's not long, but has some 90 degree dog-legs where you can't always use the driver. Some short par 5's make it fun going for the greens in 2. At $20 during the week, it's the best bargin.

You may have seen or heard from others about the change to San Juan Hills new course rating. If you haven't the new rating are as follows:
Men's Blue = 70.1/128
Men's White = 68.7/124
Men's Red = 64.9/103

Ladie's White = 74.6/130
Ladie's Red = 71.7/124

I only played the course once in Nov. (free birthday special) and really liked the course, but thought that the rating was too low. I'm glad they have adjusted it to a more accurate rating. I'll start playing and enjoying it now. It was in great shape then and I'm sure its in even better shape now.

I've been playing the back nine early in the mornings lately but the entire course (and its sister course Mesa Linda) is great! From tee to green, the grounds are lush and well maintained. Greens are maybe the best for any public course in southern CA. Getting out early during the week, I'm able to get right on the back nine and play in less than 1-1/2 hours (usually by myself). The groundskeepers are very tuned in to people playing at that time and don't interfere with play. Playing on the weekend still plays slow, but is worth the money for the conditions and the layout. Definitely the best value around!

This a nice course to play. The back nine is in better shape than the front (especially 14-17). Overall conditions are OK. The greens are not the best with many bare spots and don't roll true often. The fairways are good with some not so good spots, but not terrible. The pace of play for early Sat. morning was good at less than 4 hours. And the starters get you on the tee ASAP. I recomend the course to anyone who wants a good day of golf!

This is a nice course, especially for the money. I had a little wait walking on Sat. morning but not too bad (~1hr). The greens didn't hold well and were fairly quick but rolled fairly true. Conditions were good considering the number of rounds. Goods ocean views and some tough holes on the back nine. Some reachable par fives make it fun. Overall, it was a good challenge and I'll be back soon.

I played this course for the first time last week and enjoyed it. I was disappointed with the greens though. After practicing on the great practice green, the rest were not anywhere as good. There were many areas of blotchy grass and bareness that made it difficult to keep the ball online.

The back nine was much better than the front since it is played mostly on the newer section of the course.

You need to keep it in the fairway or take a chance of being blocked by trees on most holes (unfortunately I was blocked a few times).

The pace of play was great (just around 4 hrs) and I only waited about 30 mins Sat. early morning walking on.

I'll be back again soon!

This is a nice layout with a lot of hilly areas. The views were nice at many of the tee boxes. It plays a little harder than the rating suggests due to some elevation changes and well guarded greens. I found the greens to be fairly slow, but that are still recovering from some aeration a few weeks back. The greens are in good shape though. They seem to like water a lot with the sprinklers running during the round we played starting @ 11am. It didn't slow our play down, but did make the fairways wetter. Pace of play was a little slow also, just over 4-1/2 hours, where we had to wait on more than a few holes. But this is the norm around Orange County, so not too bad. If you walk the course, it can take a lot out of you, with the elevation changes and some long green to tee distances. The carts have GPS which is helpful if you haven't played here before (which I hadn't). I played for free (with a cart) for my birthday, but I will play again at the reg. price for sure (or maybe the twilight rate if I can make 18).

This is a great course and it is in great shape. The only downfall to the course is the pace of play, although I played yesterday in under 4-1/2 hours (it was dark when we finished though). The greens still need another week to fully recover from the aeration done 2 weeks ago, but they are still smooth and quick. The greenskeeper is doing a great job! The starter always tries to get everyone off quickly, but be aware that they do allow 5-somes often. There is a marshall, but not always late in the day.

I've played this course many times since I've moved here in August. It's seems to be one of the best courses for the fees and is almost always in great shape (especially concidering the large number of rounds). The starter gets everyone on ASAP (although they have 5-somes frequently) and the rounds play fairly quickly for so much play on the course. It's a great course to strengthen your course management. It's not long but has many places that you need to be in the fairway to score. This course, and it's sister Los Lobos, both are great places to play.
