Played last Friday morning (8/5) as part of an annual tournament in the Solvang/Lompoc area. Conditions were very good, and mirror recent course rating. Traps were a little suspect in spots, but overall nice shape as well.

Enjoyable course for all levels of players, but not a difficult test. Only protection the course has is afternoon winds, and then they usually are not severe enough to tax your game. Nice facilites, and great grill room! Give it a try - I think you'll enjoy yourself!

Course appears to have fully recovered from aeration in early March. Fairways are starting to run a little quicker...maintenance folks are doing a great job with them. Some of the traps are a little inconsistant, but then you're not supposed to hit into them...that's why they call them hazards!

Pace of play is typical for heavily played county facility. Early morning is the best at 4-4.5 hours, but expect 5 hours or more after 10:00am. Marshal is pretty much worthless...drives around, says little, mostly reads paper and hits balls at back of the range. Needs to be replaced with someone who'll move people along...

Played on Sat, 4/3 as part of PLGA Amateur tourney. Tee times were close to being on time - approx 10 minutes behind, which isn't bad for a Saturday at an American Golf facility. Speed of play was normal for tourney play - 5 hours.

Course was in great shape - new traps, defined fairways, receptive greens. Rough has been trimmed back so not as punitive as noted in previous posts.

Better players should enjoy this course if they play from the champ tees. Most of the par fives are reachable in two, but are offset by the tough par threes...most at 200 plus, with water and protective traps. Good overall test...If they can keep the course conditions at the current level, probably one of the best values in LA County.

Greens are still bumpy from aeration, and speed is a little inconsistent from green to green. Another 7-10 days and they should be in nice shape.

Fairways are nice, rough is tough with lots of clover. Avoided the sand today so no comments on this loop around the course.

Tee boxes still need a little work, especially #8 (very uneven with lots of divots).

Overall impression...a nice track for the money, especially during the week. Today's round was just over 4 hours, teeing off at 8:00. Expect 5 hours or more on weekends.

Played Oaks/StoneHouse nines on 2/17. Greens were punched and sanded, most recently on Oaks nine. While the greens were receptive and held shots nicely, they were horrible to putt. I realize that the course needs the maintenance, but I've putted on shag carpet that was faster.

MUST be accurate on this course. It has some of the most severe rough I have ever played. Almost to the point or being extreme...wasted too much time looking for balls, even those where we knew where to look. Would suggest they reduce the length a little to allow higher handicappers a decent chance to score.

Overall a good track...will come back when greens have healed.

Course is playing a little shorter due to trying to protect some tee boxes. Should be back to full length in next couple of weeks.

Greens are running a little slow and bumpy, but this is to be expected at this time of year. They will hold most short iron shots, but long irons will run as many greens are still hard.

Pace of play is slow...expect to take 5 hours.

Played this course today for first time...definitely will return. Challenging for all levels of play. Course is in great shape for being so new...still lots of things left to finish here, including the club house, permanent tee markers, snack shop and/or beverage carts, but definitely worth the trip.

As noted in previous postings, there are a couple of weak holes (#14 and #18), but there are plenty of others to make up for them, especially on back nine. If your game can handle it, play this from the black tees. Higher elevated tees give full effect of hole, and makes you hit every club in the bag.

There are two par 3's that are very similar, severe downhill shots that play two clubs less than yardage...but I think GolfDoc must have bogied them (or worse)...they really aren't bad. Maybe we should offer some cheese to go with his whine...but not until the clubhouse if finished. Hope they decide to keep this open to the public...

Played today as walk-on. Was fortunate to get out within 15 minutes, but played as 5-some. Pace of play was a bit slow considering it was Monday - just under 5 hours. Course is in nice shape at the moment...fairways were tight, with only a few thin spots, rough was not severe, greens accepted/held well struck shots and were good speed overall.

They are currently working on redoing sand traps on several hole on the front nine. Looks very promising as it appears they are trying to add some teeth back to this course. Not sure how long the maintenance schedule will be, but look forward to playing this track when all is finished...and I'll be back again before its done.

Short track, but a few interesting holes. Overall conditions were pretty good, but tee boxes are being worked on, so course play much shorter than normal. Greens were very nice...fast and held well-stuck shots. Wish more people would fix their pitch marks...was constantly fixing 4-5 extras besides my own. Pace of play was slow...expect 5 hours.
