Played the "Goose" today. It had been awhile mainly cuz its hard to get an early morning start time at this "Gem" in the inland empire. The course is usually in good shape but today it was immaculate! Frankly, I thought they were getting it ready for a pro tournament. This is just a wonderful course especially considering it gets a lot of play. They have a great starter who doesn't just throw guys out. We had a foursome in front and a foursome in back and we never felt rushed and had to wait maybe 3 or 4 minutes on the Par 3's. On the fairway you'd think your ball was on a tee. Greens impeccable and quick. The only drawback if there is one about this course is the traps. Sand not the best so stay out of them! PLAY this course. Fun and a good value!

Played San Juan today. Have always liked this course. Staff is always great and very accommodating. It gets a lot of play but they don't send folks out every five minutes so you don't feel rushed. Course in pretty good shape considering drought conditions. Pretty good lies in the fairway most of the time. Green rolled pretty well. Why don't people fix their ball marks! I was repairing the greens all morning. My pet peeve. We got a good rate online. Its a little pricey if you don't catch a deal and really not worth the big money. POP was pretty good, about 3 and half and we had foursomes in front and back.

Played El Dorado today for the first time in about a dozen years. Was pleasantly surprised on how well the course looked. They had punched one fairway otherwise you had pretty good lie most of the time. Greens firm but probably due to the dry and windy conditions we've had the last few days. This course gets a lot of play. The downside is they let out fivesomes and let them walk! If any of them are hackers you're in for a long round. We will play it again.

Played Talega today. Played it last November and was not pleased with the condition. Thought we'd give it a look 6 months later and so glad we did! The course is in the best shape it has ever been! Fairways beautiful! Greens immaculate! The pro's would be impressed with the condition. It's at the high end of the senior rate ($60) but well worth it considering the price of some of the more upscale OC courses. The course is challenging and pace of play is great (for a weekday). They don't seem to get many hackers out here. We tee'd off around 7 AM and done before 10:30. Rack rate is high but if you can score a deal...play it!

Played Black Gold today, been about a year since we played here. Had a "cyber Monday special rate" and glad we did because the rack rate is definitely not worth it. Fairways are terrible. Almost like they never water them. Had to put your ball on some grass. Greens OK. Didn't hold very well but the putted nicely. Sand was alright. You could thump it. Service was very good. Everyone helpful. I like the layout. It is very challenging but as I said not worth the price unless you get a deal.

Played today and boy was it lush! A little too lush! We actually lost some balls in the fairway! They were just getting around to mow after rain from earlier. Have always liked this course, very challenging. Customer service is always superb. My only beef is with the sand. Hard & rocky in a lot of places. The course is a little pricey but it is South OC. Worth a trip if you've never played it.

Played the "Babe" today with their $49 rate which is one of the BEST value's in SoCal. The course was in superb shape. Ball sat up in the fairway like it was on a tee! Greens a tad on the hard side but NO ball marks rolling very true. This is a hard course but a wonderful challenge. If you've never played here or haven't in a while, do so, you won't be disappointed.

Played San Clemente today and was surprised how lush it was. Fairways really nice, ball sat up well. Rough was pretty long, at least a couple inches. Traps fine, you could really thump it. Greens playing pretty slow. They didn't look as if they had been mowed. Got off right away but this course gets a lot of play and it can be pretty long in spots and a lot of people walk (cheap for residents). Our round took about 4 hours but we had a walking foursome in front of us. Weather was great and it was a fun round.

Played Monarch Beach last week. Hadn't played the course in about 7 years. Had a special SCGA rate (tee off before 8AM) of $74. This is usually out of my price range but my partner and I gave ourselves an early Christmas present. The staff was excellent as far as the service. Very attentive and helpful. As for the course...well..the greens were find and the ball rolled pretty true. Sand was very good for this time of year. A good thump when you hit your shot. I was disappointed with the fairways. Too many bare spots and real tight lies. For what you pay here as regular rate, you'd think the fairways would be excellent. I played the "Ike" at Industry Hills a couple weeks ago for the same price and you'd think it was PGA tour ready. We had a good round, pace of play was good. I wouldn't play this course at their regular rate. Money better spent at other courses,

Played Shorecliffs today for the first time in a long time and was pleasantly surprised. I always liked this course because it does provide some diversity for a Muni. Greens today were in GREAT shape, a little hard so you couldn't really flag hunt but they rolled pretty true. Sand traps were in good shape, fairways decent some bare spots but overall pretty good. Excellent senior rate of $34 was well worth it. Enjoyable round!

Played Jurupa Hills for the first time today. Have to admit I was pleasantly surprised. Nice place to work on your game. Greens slow but held most shots, fairways decent. Kikuya made it tough at times, you don't want to be in the rough. Rate was great for a Senior $29. Long drive for someone like me who lives in Orange County but as I said it was very pleasant. Nice staff, may play it again sometime.

Played Talega this morning. Course is coming back in shape. Fairways a little thin in spots but greens in very good shape. Ball rolled pretty true. Sand traps are terrible and there are a lot of them. I wish courses with a lot of traps would do their best to make them playable. These were rock hard and like hitting out of clay. This is a beautiful course but really overpriced unless you get a deal or a senior rate (like me). Best to play early when its cool and not windy because there are some tough tee shots if you have to hit into the wind.
