Hadn't played here in over a year. Was dissapointed to find the fairways and "rough" to be in such poor condition. Lots of GUR, dirt areas and weeds despite the recent rains. They really need to invest in some grass seed.

On the plus side, the greens were in nice shape-medium speed but rolled smoothly and accepted most approach shots. Bunkers surprisingly in good shape. Excellent service from the pretty girl in the bev cart. Very friendly and must have seen her 6 times on the back nine.

Still, it's hard to justify returning here until playing conditions get better as competing courses nearby are in better shape for less cash.

Played Wed 1/13 for the afternoon rate of $35. Pace of play was excellent, bunkers have lots of nice fluffy sand to play out of. Tee boxes and fairway landing areas have lots of unfixed divot marks. Greens are smooth, roll well but dont accept well struck pitches and approach shots. I prefer fast greens as a rule, but these may have gotten away from the crew. Very hard to put a nice roll on your ball without running it well past the hole. I hadnt played here in a while and don't remember it being so difficult in the past. I've always liked the design of this track and hope to play again when spring comes and conditions normalize.

Oak Quarry is always one of my favorite tracks for its distinctive design and challenging but playable layout. Played yesterday and was dismayed to find most of the greens just pockmarked with numerous unfixed ball marks. Greens in general were hard and to run up all but the shortest approach shots. Rough and fairways were ok, sand bunkers as usual were thin and had little rocks in them-I bring an older sand wedge for courses like these where I know the bunkers are like that. I hope the greens condition isn't a long term trend.

Bev cart came by several times and food at the clubhouse as usual was excellent.

We've played the Lakes course at Menifee several times but somehow not the Palms. Just like its sister course it had nice greens,playable fairways and decent teeboxes. I think the design is just a bit more challenging and interesting though. Greens were medium speed but generally had 2 or 3 tiers so short shots have to be precise. Fair price of $41 for a Friday morning. Bunkers are basically groomed dirt with no imported sand just like everywhere else in this price range, but they are at least soft and playable. Pace of play was excellent as we teed off at 740 and we were done before 11. Did not have a chance to try the food in the clubhouse, but cart service was friendly and efficient. Again, a great value. Any nearby course that is this good or better with the possible exception of Soboba when it's on sale is probably at least $20 more.

We actually meant to play a different golf course altogether (The former SCGA) in this area, but one of my playing partners got confused-not uncommon-by the name change of this course and booked us here. At first we were furious at him "Dude, you booked us at Temeku Hills, that place is a dog track!"

To our relief we were pleasantly surprised. The new ownership has really turned this course around. Conditions were much, much better than when we last played here 4-5 years ago. Greens are quick and in good shape, fairways are firm but the turf is nice, the rough is a little scraggly in spots but no big deal. I never landed in any bunkers but the sand in them looked ok to me. Did not get a chance to try the food service, but the staff encountered all seemed friendly. No sign of a beverage cart on course FWIW. Pace of play on a Sat am just in front of a tournament was excellent, we blazed through the round in 3:45. Nice job Legends!

SixPez's earlier review is spot on. Made the drive up the hill and played this course last week. As he noted, nice fairways and greens with level but hard tee boxes. I too am a bit put off of by the 12 hole concept but realize it's probably a lot more sustainable for golf in a small out of the way community to cut water usage and maintenance. To his review, I'd add that it would be nice if the yardage markers were more visible and easier to find, particularly as this course is so new my Garmin doesn't have it in the database yet. Pleasant, not too challenging "linksy" layout. Kind of reminds me of Diamond Valley in Hemet. The Joshua Trees sprinkling the surrounding hillsides add character to the scenery offsetting the trailer park and dilapidated condos on the other side of the course. Food service still not available, but all staff I encountered were all very friendly. Covered driving range with unusually nice artificial turf. It's good to see a new course open up anywhere these days. Kudos to the ownership of this track!

Played Shandin Hills today. Good Saturday value for only $40 in the morning. The good, conditioning is ok, with the medium speed greens being the best part. Sand, fairways, rough and tee boxes were so-so.

The bad...Pace of play was horrible! Teed off at 830 and finished well after 2. One of our group left in frustration after 9. Had 2 affiliated groups in front of us who just had to follow each other around and hit each of their shots one by one. Guess they were betting and wanted to make sure nobody was cheating. Big gaps in between slow and faster groups. A conscientious Marshall would have really helped.

Hadn't played here in a few years. Went out with a buddy to check it out. The starter commented there was new management since last year and the course was the best it has been in years. Glad I hadn't played here recently then.

Fairways are spotty, lots of GUR. Greens are very inconsistent, some decent some in very bad shape with pockmarks all over them. No sand in bunkers and tee boxes are chewed up. Course design is flat and straightforward, with a few goofy holes. Extra par 5s are fun.

In general, just kind of a dilapidated feel everywhere is kinda depressing. Restroom on back 9 is closed, bridge blocked off by cones and many other signs of gradual neglect of the facility.

The good part is that it is probably the most reasonably priced regulation length course in the wind free part of Palm Springs. I paid $59 on a Friday morning, no special discount and it's almost high season. All the staff encountered were generally nice and friendly. I hope they turn this place around.

Although this course is in my neck of the woods, I've never played it until yesterday. Basically because of cost, the many great choices in the area and its location in the "wind zone" near the I-10 freeway.

Let me get to the good stuff first. Even in an area and time of year where the courses seem engaged in an arms race to claim the title of best conditioned, CC is at the top of the heap. I've played Indian Wells, Mission Hills and PGA West recently and this course is just a touch better right now. The greens are smooth and roll very quickly. Very tough to read. Bunkers are filled nicely with fluffy sand. The fairways though are what puts this course over the top, almost unreal how they look like green carpet. Makes you feel guilty taking a divot.

Would be nice if there was more than just the snack bar and a few outdoor tables to grab a pre or post round bite. I love that there's a bev cart with a friendly attendant on each 9. The clubhouse is impressive, especially as seen from the freeway but has a kinda spooky and enpty feel to it, like a department store that isn't doing too well.

I'd def give this course a shot again if deals come up, but only in the am before the wind blows.

This is a course I've taken to task here for poor conditioning and management. Hadn't played here for a while but our group took a flyer and decided to come out. What a pleasant surprise. Looks like there's new management and they've turned a corner here. The course is in as good condition as I've seen in years. Greens are nice, not premium resort quality but very very good for what you pay. Medium fast, and accepts approach shots and pitches nicely. Fairways are nice and green, bare here and there with some muddy spots but over all quite playable. Tee boxes on par 3s are chewed up reflecting heavy play. Best part is a $99 for 3 rounds any time deal they are running. I've always liked this course design and the fact that it is rarely ever windy here even if it's blowing the house down anywhere else in SoCal. It's also nice that they've opened up a real clubhouse so we can quaff a couple of beers after a round in a nice room and catch the end of the morning football games today. The "foot golf" flags and buckets sprinkled around the course are a bit off putting, but whatever. Hope it makes them some coin. Keep up the good work guys!

This is a great golf course with a couple of rough edges. Challenging but fair, no quirkiness or unexpected outcomes. Fast, Undulating greens, strategically placed traps and rolling terrain present a solid test to your abilities. I used every club in the bag before I was done here. Greens roll well, Sand is in good condition and fairways aren't pristine but seem to give you good lies all the time.

Just a couple of things...First of all, the price for us as out of towners. We were charged $125 on a weekday morning. I know they're asking what the market will bear and it's much less dough than some of its neighbors, but no way is this a 3 figure golf course. I played its sister course Bayonet just 3 years ago and paid about half this price if i recall correctly. I guess the economy is improving! Another minor quibble is the condition of the tee boxes which are incredibly chewed up, and I'm not just talking the par 3's.

Still, this course or it's sister are must plays when visiting the Peninsula.

This is going to sound sacrilegious, but playing this course last week completed the Pebble Beach trifecta for me and I've got to say this is my favorite between it, Pebble and Spyglass. Despite the comments from others about the over the top design and quirky greens, I think smartly played this is the course a mid handicapper playing the right tees can score nearest his handicap. I'm a 12 and shot an 88. You just have to be fortunate enough to get a good forecaddie, keep your shots below the hole and lay up before the hazards. You won't make many putts outside 5 feet so just concentrate on your speed and lag it up there. Course conditioning is impeccable in all aspects as it should be for the price. One advantage as well is that this is the one course I played in the group that allowed carts into the fairway (90*). So the fatigue factor did not play as much of a factor as when I played PB earlier.Also, it's the one course you can reserve without having to stay in one of the resort properties. So, it's merely expensive not prohibitively so.

Excellent food and service at lunch after the round, a lot friendlier and less stuffy than the folks at the Stillwater grill at Pebble.
