Got out here at 5:30 on the 26th. Managed to finish 17 holes on not the quickest of days. Course felt much different than recently. Fairways were in great shape for the course, some brown spots but nothing really dead. A lot more green and living than normal. The rain and no parking seems to have brought the course back to life. Most of the tee boxes were also in good shape. Greens have mostly recovered from being punched a month ago, but still not pristine. First time in a while in a while that I wouldn't have been disappointed at the rack rate during the week. It is a pretty tight and walkable course. Nice that it is tough to lose balls, though you will end up on the wrong side of trees if you spray it too much.

Played out here on Saturday 3/19 at a leisurely pace of 3 hours. For the front nine....Back nine quickened up and we were able to finish is a quick 2.75 hours. At least it was a nice day for a an almost 6 hour round of golf.

On the brightside the course is in much better shape than the last time I was out here. The fairways are green and well covered. The rough is green and mostly covered. Never thick though. Typical muni grass, plays fine but doesn't look great.

Greens were slow, though pretty smooth.

Tee boxes flat in general.

The highlight is the new sand. All the bunkers have new sand and rakes in them. It's like playing out of a course that charges the rack rate that they have on the weekends.

Course is shaping up nicely and will probably be nice for the next few months. Though not worth the rack rate, definitely worth a weekday play if you can get a decent rate.

They have also opened up a new pitching area for practice that looks lush from a distance though I didn't see it up close. It's been fenced off for a few months so hopefully it's a great new practice area.

They are aerating the greens Monday and Tuesday so give it till April before hitting up Course 1.

Must have Just missed Nickesquire out here Saturday. Everything he says is true. Played the blacks for the first time ever here today. Besides playing just 10 minutes behind pace it took about 4.5 hours to finish. Had a great time and the course is in excellent playing shape. Not the prettiest right now but compared to every other public course in LA it is in great shape. Fairways were perfect to hit off of. Greens were fast and smooth. Service from before the pro shop and after the last hole is lacking imho compared to other courses that charge fees as high as they do here. Also a pet peeve is courses that charge more than $80 a round charging for range balls as they do here. At least you are hitting off of grass. Great place to practive if you need to work on your short game though. If you're in LA and don't mind dropping over $100 a round this is the place to play.

Also on the Forelinx tour on Saturday was Monarch. Perfect day on a beautiful course. Ended up matched up with 3 other Forelinx members who also played Strawberry Farms in the morning. Teed off at 1 and probably the 2nd to last group to finish all 18. Pace was never awful just a little slow but nothing frustrating (unless you teed off two rounds behind us ;).

Course was great. Greenskeeper was even out rolling the greens. Really enjoyed that sight. Great views on the first 5-6 holes then moves into a canyon layout. Back 9 is framed by houses but only on one hole can you hook in to them.

Starter was telling players to play the silver if over 10 Handicap or Gold if under. I'm over 10 but the group wanted to play gold and it didn't seem too long. It was a nice touch though as most people seemed to be listening to him.

The course is in the best shape of any I have played in LA/OC/IE so if you want lush and green this is your place, though you will pay for it.

Doing the Forelinx tour with everyone else it seems. Played in a little over 4 hours teeing off before 7 AM on a Saturday. I'd love to see the course in great shape. Overall the course was a let down based on the rack rate. If I paid more than $50 I'd be disappointed. Greens were in good shape. Definitely need to keep in straight on the back 9.

Was told we wouldn't see the cart lady before the end of the round since she doesn't get out till 9. This didn't make much sense, but proved to be true. The group ahead of us and behind us along with our group were wondering what was going on. When she showed up, it all made sense. She goes the same direction as you're playing not backwards. This was the biggest complaint of the day.

Course is in great shape. Greens don't look the best but play great. Fast and smooth. Took almost 2 hours to finish 9 holes on a par 3. My playing partners even got a free round. It was a little cloudy/foggy so didn't get the views. I wouldn't head out here just to play the course but if you are in the area, I'd definitely hit it up.

Similar mintenance to the Dye course. Fairways are slightly tighter than the Dye. Big hooks or slices and houses occasionally will enter your mind. Course plays a little tougher. All of the tee boxes here were perfectly flat. Greens feel slightly bigger.

Everything from my Dye comments otherwise apply here.

Enjoyed the challenge a little more though my scorecard didn't.

Played this morning 2/20/16 in 4:15. Right on time and the marshall was out keeping everyone in line even as it seemed slow on the way out over the first few holes.

The rough does not appear overseeded yet isn't totally dead so the course doesn't look super lush or have that great contrast look.

Fairways are beautiful and play great. Didn't hit any dead spots or GUR

Tee boxes were so so. about 2/3 are great and 1/3 are not flat but with a slight hump that can make finding a flat spot to tee off hard.

Sand is more dirt like. Plays like sand but not the same consistency.

I don't like playing house lined courses but there was plenty of room everywhere where they never come into play so that was a plus. Very little water comes into play also.

Greens play flat with little break but quick and in immaculate shape. Pin placement was very tough though.

A wonderful start to the day.

Played two rounds out here this weekend. Course is in fantastic shape. Fairways and greens play amazing. Rough is visible but not too long. Definitely not long enough to stop a shot from rolling in the water. Sand was soft and fluffy, though a little too easy to find if you are hitting short. Greens are very large and if you are not landing in the right area you are going to be three putting. Tee boxes were really good, not perfect but among the best I've played off of.

Facility is great. Full driving range, multiple practice greens. Sand to practice out of too. $25 for all day practice or free with a round. I've never enjoyed food at a Marriott run property (hotels included) and the restaurant here doesn't change my opinion.

Great people and service, an absolute pleasure to play.

Worth the discount price. Paid $22 this afternoon with a cart. This place feels like a factory though. Even starting at 1:30 there were people lined up on both courses ready to go out and play. Played 15 holes in 3.5 hours. Course is definitely dormant. Would not call any area lush. Only have the greens are good. Course plays pretty short. If you can drive 250-270 you're going to be hitting under 125 most holes as long as you don't end up behind a tree.

If you live close by Brookside has upped its value due to its location. In the past it was quicker to drive 30-40 minutes to somewhere such as Robinson Ranch and play a course in good condition and a fast POP, as you'd be playing a nicer course and get home at the same time. With the drought affecting most other courses being close by makes it worth playing a little more often.

Players Club here is a good value if you don't mind hitting off the mats. 2 large buckets of balls a day and discount tee times.
